The trial tested an approach that allows doctors to transplant hearts from donors who have succumbed to "circulatory death" -- meaning the heart has stopped beating. Traditionally, heart transplants could only be done with a heart from a donor on life support who has been declared brain dead. A new transplant method that "reanimates" donor hearts appears safe and effective, a new clinical trial has found -- in an advance that could substantially expand the supply of donor hearts available in the United States. The trial tested an approach that allows doctors to transplant hearts from donors who have succumbed...

Ukraine’s main counteroffensive against Russia’s invasion appears to have begun, multiple Western news agencies have reported. The long-discussed Ukrainian counteroffensive may be underway, although not heralded as such by the Ukrainian government, but rather by a series of no-name comments from military figures briefing to Western newspapers. Indeed, Ukraine insisted the counteroffensive was not yet happening as recently as yesterday, but they have also recently said they would not discuss it for strategic reasons.

California Governor Gavin Newsom is proposing a 28th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution to restrict gun ownership, following a record year of mass shootings. The Democrat's plan would leave the 2nd Amendment unchanged and 'respect' America's 'gun-owning tradition'. But he has demanded 'common sense constitutional protections and gun safety measures that Democrats, Republicans, independent voters, and gun owners overwhelmingly support'. It would include 'universal background checks, raising the firearm purchase age to 21, instituting a firearm purchase waiting period, and barring the civilian purchase of assault weapons.' All of those are hot political topics that have divided Congress as well...

The left wasted little time on Thursday celebrating the passing of Christian television evangelist Pat Robertson. The 93-year-old’s death was announced earlier in the day by his broadcasting network. No cause was given. As Breitbart News reported, Robertson was a familiar presence in American living rooms for over half a century, known for his “700 Club” television show, and in later years, his televised pronouncements of God’s judgment on a host of topics. His energy and business sense turned a tiny Virginia TV station into a global evangelical network before he sought the GOP presidential nomination in 1988 and helped...

Left-wing nutballs have had the upper hand in America’s culture wars for a long time. They are hyperaggressive and focused on pushing America in a radical direction. They push their agenda on school boards, in local and national political venues, and on many corporations. To date, resistance has been isolated to a small number of dedicated conservative activists. Most Americans just want to get along whenever possible, not fight about sensitive social issues if they can help it and, most of all, not be mean to people. That’s a laudable attitude in general, but when up against radical, ideologically driven...

One performer attempted to "titty weight lift" with various objects that included a sword, five pound weights, and a wooden spoon. Children were subjected to adult nudity at a recent drag show at Oregon State University which included stripping, fully exposed breasts, and something called "titty weight lifting." The event titled, "Illegal Drag Show," was hosted by an LGBTQ student club on campus called Rainbow Continuum, which marketed the show for "all-ages," despite its explicit nature, Campus Reform reports. Video footage from the event that occured on June 2 shows a female performer's fully-exposed breasts after she took off her...

Ukrainian forces have suffered losses in heavy equipment and soldiers as they met greater than expected resistance from Russian forces in their first attempt to breach Russian lines in the east of the country in recent days, two senior US officials tell CNN.One US official described the losses – which include US supplied MRAP armored personnel vehicles as “significant.”Ukrainian forces managed to overrun some Russian forces in the east around Bakhmut. However, Russian forces, armed with anti-tank missiles, grenades and mortars, have put up “stiff resistance,” with their forces dug into defensive lines that are several layers deep in some...

Several House Republican members of the Freedom Caucus have revolted against Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) over his Debt ceiling deal with Democrat President Joe Biden. Republicans have been outraged that McCarthy struck a deal with the Biden White House to raise the debt ceiling last month. Twelve Republicans voted with the Democrats to defeat the GOP’s attempt to bring four bills to the House floor. The bills were related to gas stoves and regulatory reform. This is the first time a House rule vote has been defeated since November 2002. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said: “Today, we took down the...

Chilling video footage caught a Syrian refugee repeatedly stabbing screaming adults and kids in a French playground Thursday — including at least one toddler in a stroller. A 90-second clip shared online shows the knifeman repeatedly running at people in the picturesque Alps town of Annecy, injuring at least six people, including four kids aged under 5 left fighting for their lives. Police later blamed a 31-year-old Syrian national with legal refugee status in France for the attack that President Emmanuel Macron called “an act of absolute cowardice.” The footage starts with the black-clad suspect rushing out of the play...

Is Democrat ex-senator Claire McCaskill still bitter about being trounced by Josh Hawley in her 2018 re-election bid, or was she always this spiteful? On today's Morning Joe, McCaskill, now an MSNBC analyst, managed to take nasty swipes at the two frontrunners for the Republican presidential nomination. She began by disparaging the field of Republican candidates as the "Seven Dwarfs." McCaskill then cast Ron DeSantis as "Snow White," because "he likes white boots." Are we trying to imply DeSantis is somehow secretly gay, Claire? McCaskill then took her shot at Donald Trump. With mock seriousness, butter not melting in her...

The Ukrainian government has hit back at Tucker Carlson after the former Fox News host said a "fair person would conclude" Kyiv blew up the Nova Kakhovka dam in southern Ukraine, which collapsed on Tuesday causing widespread flooding. Ukraine's Centre for Strategic Communication and Information Security (CSCIS), a government agency, hit back at Carlson in a Twitter thread on Thursday. The body posted a screenshot from Carlson's former Fox News show, edited to include a photo of Vladimir Putin and the strapline "agent of Putin." They added the clown face emoji, then said: "Tucker Carlson, a TV presenter who was...

The Supreme Court on Thursday issued a surprising 5-4 ruling in favor of Black voters in a congressional redistricting case, ordering the creation of a second district with a large Black population. Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Brett Kavanaugh joined with the court’s liberals in affirming a lower-court ruling that found a likely violation of the Voting Rights Act in an Alabama congressional map with one majority Black seat out of seven congressional districts in a state where more than one in four residents is Black.

(Daily readings from the USCCB)And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding, he said to him, “You are not far from the Kingdom of God.” And no one dared to ask him any more questions. Mark 12:34Finally, we have the witness of one of the religious leaders, a scribe, who got it right. The passage above is the conclusion of the interaction with this scribe who asks Jesus which of all the commandments is the first and greatest. Jesus gives the twofold answer that we are to love God above all, with all your heart, mind, soul and strength,...

COVID is blamed for the vast ruin and destruction of the past few years. After all, there were a more than a million deaths in the U.S., mass layoffs, and the destruction of hundreds of thousands of small businesses. There's been learning loss and speech delays in children, and depression and other mental health crises in teenagers. There's the massive inflation seen today and a huge surge in the federal debt brought on by federal COVID spending and let's not even get into the fraud. There's also the refusal of workers to return to work, the still-empty churches and downtown...

Starter homes are simply unaffordable. Treasury Secretary Janet “Too Low For Too Long” Yellen, and former Federal Reserve Chair, is partly responsible for a phenomenon plaguing America: the death of starter homes. As Mish has discussed, with main markets no longer an option for first-time buyers, Point2 looked at the country’s 100 largest secondary cities for the median price of a starter home and renter households’ median income. Defined as large non-core cities within a metro, these cities used to be fruitful house-hunting grounds for first-time buyers exploring less-expensive options away from main cities. But as it turns out, unaffordability...

Does it really matter that a bunch of second and third-tier candidates have announced for the GOP presidential nomination? Other than DeSantis -- who’s first tier -- are any of them really running for president or are they running to pump a little air into their brands? Well, one second-tier candidate is doing more than pumping air. His name is Vivek Ramaswamy. He’s young -- just 37 -- and has made waves with his Twitter postings. I’ll wager he’s running for future consideration. Ramaswamy isn’t a reformer. He’s a conservative firebrand. He’s articulating positions that are bold, would upend the...

Emerald Robinson, the host of “Absolute Truth with Emerald Robinson” at Frank Speech was able to obtain a copy of Tucker Carlson’s final monologue for his canceled show on FOX News. Emerald posted the transcript from Tucker’s final monologue at Emerald.TV. Tucker starts out by blasting Jen Psaki, a top Democrat and totalitarian who believes freedom of speech is a thing of the past. Members of Congress aren’t allowed to talk like this. The Constitution of the United States prohibits it. American citizens have an inalienable right to critique and criticize their political leaders. Our politicians are not gods. They’re...

The Moscow-aligned information space is reporting Kremlin troop setbacks amid Russian sources suggesting Ukraine has begun its counter-offensive. Kyiv has not commented on Russian claims that its long-awaited push to retake captured territory has commenced, but milbloggers have reported on Telegram how Ukrainian troops have used tanks and other armored vehicles in the Zaporizhzhia oblast. On Thursday, milblogger War Gonzo said that a battle had been ongoing during the night in Orekhov-Tokmak, writing that the Ukrainian side had not made significant progress. However, the post described how on the Donetsk front where Russian troops had conducted assault operations in Maryinka...

There is nothing more fundamental to electioneering than taking a list of registered voters, knocking on their doors, pitching your candidate, handing each a flyer, and getting them all out to vote. This is the building block of election management. It is stunning how absolutely incompetent the Republican Party is performing this fundamental task. Last week, NBC News did a story about how the canvassing for Republican candidates was so bad that it likely lost the Senate elections in Nevada and Georgia, and probably others as well. Our Republican Party pals could not deliver a list of voters that was...

Canada looks set to face another record-shattering year of euthanasia deaths in 2023 after a reported 35 percent rise to some 13,500 state-sponsored suicides in 2022, an analysis of official data shows. Regional health chiefs won’t release their formal tally for some weeks, but data from Ontario, Alberta, Quebec, and Nova Scotia already show steep rises in euthanasia deaths last year right across Justin Trudeau’s Canada, the Daily Mail reports. The data claim was shared with the outlet.
