Ukrainian forces have suffered losses in heavy equipment and soldiers as they met greater than expected resistance from Russian forces in their first attempt to breach Russian lines in the east of the country in recent days, two senior US officials tell CNN.
One US official described the losses – which include US supplied MRAP armored personnel vehicles as “significant.”
Ukrainian forces managed to overrun some Russian forces in the east around Bakhmut. However, Russian forces, armed with anti-tank missiles, grenades and mortars, have put up “stiff resistance,” with their forces dug into defensive lines that are several layers deep in some areas and marked by minefields that have taken a heavy toll on Ukrainian armored vehicles.
US and Western officials have been bracing for the counteroffensive for months, moving to shore up Ukraine’s defenses ahead of its start. This week, Ukraine’s Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Maliar said an offensive was “taking place in several directions.”
“It is not only about Bakhmut. The offensive is taking place in several directions,” Maliar said. “We are happy about every meter. Today is a successful day for our forces.”

Except Victoria Nuland.
And she was the deciding vote.
How long until Zelensky gets the Ngo Dinh Diem treatment?
Ngo Dinh Diem was unavailable for comment.
Did the Ukrainians forget about Russian air attack, drones and artillery?

She needs to be put against a wall and shot.
She is the idealized model of everything wrong with the deep state.
They should stop sacrificing their citizens and call for a ceasefire. If we’d stop sending them money and arms, that would help save lives and end this senseless war, which I still see as more of a civil war. And one that we had absolutely no business involving ourselves in or promoting. Blood on our hands.
They draw them out and bombard them. Old tactic that goes back to the Napoleonic war they had.
Wait for it.
That’s our tax dollars being blown up.
The Russian offering “stiff resistance” I guess that means that the Ukrainians are on the “limp” side.

I’ve heard rumors they are already trying to get troops from the Baltic countries involved. The neocons are desperate to bring NATO into this. The Ukies won’t be able to hold them off much longer by themselves.
Something is happening that is causing the corrupt media to report some negative news regarding Ukraine. I’ve been seeing more negative stories in the last week then I’ve seen in a year. Are they being forced to report these stories because they can’t hide the truth much longer? It seems unusual to me. They still report propaganda but they are adding some negative stories about Ukraine all of a sudden. We will find out soon enough.

This is obviously pro Putin boot licking butt kissing Ruzzian propaganda.
Also FWIW it’s not going as well as Ukraine hoped/expected it appears.
At least not the Ukraine social media.
I follow all sides of this and comment based on what I believe is reality, so no one come here and call me a russian troll. Just look at my posting history.
Personally I think Ukraine should have seized the undefended Russian Territory to the North. Then either force Russia to move their troops there and then start the counter attack. OR use the land grabbed from Russia to make a deal to get their land back.
Defense is easier/loses less lives than trying to take land that is well defended.
I already saw something about NATO troops being used to enforce a peace settlement.
I've lived in Communist/one-party countries. The divisions in opinion among the top party factions are played it in contradictory articles in the state-run media.
Sadly, Washington DC is now quite similar.
