The New Testament is the story of stories, and it starts off all wrong. Most adventure stories begin with the wondrous “Once upon a time”, but Matthew starts his book with a genealogy. Why in the world would he do that? The greatest story ever told starts like a phone book with a long list of unpronounceable names. This is important, though. What makes this list amazing is that some names belong to people who had sketchy pasts. One of these names is Rahab from the Old Testament book of Joshua whose act of saving Hebrew spies got her inducted...

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday told his country’s traditional Victory Day parade on Moscow’s Red Square that the West’s “untamed ambitions, arrogance and impunity” are driving “a real war” against Russia, while the Kremlin’s forces fired another cruise missile barrage at Ukraine. “Today civilization is once again at a decisive turning point,” Putin said at the annual commemorations celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War II. “A real war has been unleashed against our Motherland.” Putin’s remarks came just hours after the Kremlin’s forces fired its latest barrage of cruise missiles at Ukraine, which Russia invaded more...

A far-right faction that has gained clout in the Georgia GOP wants to give the state party new powers to block candidates from qualifying to run as Republicans if they’re deemed to be insufficiently conservative or a “traitor” to the party. The rule change is being championed by leaders of the Georgia Republican Assembly, a conservative faction that has vilified Gov. Brian Kemp, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and other Republicans who rejected Donald Trump’s demands to overturn his election defeat. Under the proposed rule change, the Georgia GOP convention could vote to prevent a political candidate from qualifying to...

The editorial board of the conservative, Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal has urged its readers to take heed of William Barr’s recent warning about Donald Trump, and the former attorney general’s caution about what would happen if the former president won a second term in the White House. Barr last week described Trump’s first term as a “horror show. He predicted Trump would fail to deliver on conservative policies, even if he did win the 2024 election. The Journal wholeheartedly agreed. “The rebuttal from the Trump establishment will be to cite his first term, but that record supports Mr. Barr’s...

Will technology stop at transgenderism? No. Western populations are being conditioned — ‘groomed’ — to more easily accept transhumanism via the booming transgender industry.

Katherine Sasser announced her plan to resign from the Columbia School Board on Monday evening. Sasser said her resignation stemmed from her family’s decision to move from Missouri. She shared Monday — and in a February board meeting — that her family has been targeted by legislation attacking LGBTQ+ and transgender youth. “As a family we have made the difficult but necessary decision that Missouri is no longer a safe state for us,” Sasser said. Her voice quavered as she thanked the district administration, the board, teachers, friends and family.

“One can truly know the measure of a society by how it treats its prisoners”It is here that 687 of your loyal subjects are held, supporting the United Kingdom’s record as the nation with the largest prison population in Western Europe. As your noble government has recently declared, your kingdom is currently undergoing “the biggest expansion of prison places in over a century”, with its ambitious projections showing an increase of the prison population from 82,000 to 106,000 within the next four years. Quite the legacy, indeed. As a political prisoner, held at Your Majesty’s pleasure on behalf of an embarrassed...

Today is the 65th anniversary of the release of the Hitchcock classic “Vertigo”. Today my head is spinning. Living in a nascent police state which used to be more democratic will do that to you. Vertigo. Today, I went on trial in Victoria. I had proudly sought prayer and spiritual communion with a Warthaurong man at an Anglican cathedral last year. Police removed me from that prayer and physically assaulted me when I protested loudly to them at being removed from my prayer at the entrance to a crowded cathedral. At this morning's hearing, I angrily told the magistrate that...

SAN ANTONIO – Proposition A was defeated by a large margin of 28-72 Saturday night. The measure was the biggest turnout driver this election: more people voted on the contentious proposal than in the San Antonio mayor’s race. Called the “San Antonio Justice Charter” by supporters, Prop A would have decriminalized marijuana possession and abortion, expanded the city’s expanded cite-and-release program, created a new “justice director” position, and embedded bans on choke holds and no-knock warrants in the city charter. The cite-and-release expansion proved to be the most controversial element, with opponents arguing it would increase crime. The proposition would...

The city of Phoenix, Arizona, is being sued by more than a dozen people who live and work near the largest homeless camp in the state over its “failure to address, and its exacerbation of the growing homelessness crisis within the city.” They argued that the city does not offer shelter or resources to those who are homeless and does not enforce “quality of life ordinances” that forbid activities like loitering, intoxicated behavior, and drug use. […] The Human Services Campus, which holds the largest homeless shelter in the state, is surrounded by the sizable homeless encampment known as “the...

I dont think I have done a film review here, so let me catch up, huge film buff here. My long standing list of best films were as follows. 1&2 tied: Monty Python Holy Grail/Monty Python Life of Brian. 3:Aliens 4:5th Element 5:Rubber I know thats an odd list, but they all have their certain appeal to me. That list changed recently when Clerks 3 came out. I am a massive Kevin Smith fan (yeah I know hes far to the left), but all of the weird crap that has happened to me in life, is almost as if he...

Three Stockton men were arrested over the weekend, accused of cutting and stealing cable and phone lines in an incident that left a rural California county’s dispatch center unable to receive 911 calls for several hours. AT&T fiber optic cable lines were found cut near Highway 88 around 9:30 a.m. Sunday — for the second time in as many weeks at the same location — the Amador County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. Deputies and California Highway Patrol personnel responded that afternoon to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked off of Highway 124 south of Ione, according...

Alex Mercouris describes the situation in BakhmutApparently there are still a couple of thousand ukies holed up in one little corner of Bakhmut in basements and hide holes of verious sorts. Mercouris claims that the order has gone out to those unfortunates that their "job" is to prevent Bakhmut falling prior to May 10; that is, their job is to prevent Russians from celebrating the capture of the place on or prior to VE day, which is a big annual celebratiion in Russia. Whoever issued that order plainly does not give a rat's ass about the lives of country 404's...

@RepThomasMassie I will NOT vote to require EVERY American to get Biden’s permission if they want to work. Specifically, I’m opposed to E-verify. Giving the federal government more power over YOU is a mistake in my opinion. I support border security, but not E-verify.
