During its North American aerial odyssey, The Big Chinese Balloon passed within intel-gathering distance of ICBM silo fields, strategic bomber bases, key global logistics hubs (Charleston for example) and major Army and USAF headquarters. The balloon wasn't just blowing in the wind. Its calculated military itinerary tells reasonable Americans and Canadians -- reasonable being a qualifier that excludes media influencers and politicians bribed or blackmailed by communist China -- that the balloon was spying on critical North American defense installations. Which means it had a War Mission. Note I did not write "pre-War"; I wrote "War." I'll explain why in...

[Catholic Caucus] "A Formal Canonical Analysis of the Rescriptum" - Circular Logic and the Grandfathering of Existing Parish MassesUpon reading the rescriptum ex audientia of +Arthur Cardinal Roche dated 21 February 2023, several brief reflections come to mind: 1) Despite the Curial reforms issued in Praedicate Evangelium, the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments still does not possess legislative authority. To "exercise the authority of the Holy See" in these matters, as described in Traditionis Custodes art. 7, is unclear. Therefore, the very notion that this rescript is a legal text is highly questionable, as it...

[Catholic Caucus] The Rescript: Press Release from the LMS and FIUV On Tuesday 21st February the Holy See Press Office published a Rescript confirming, for the Dicastery for Divine Worship, certain legal points in relation to the interpretation of Pope Francis’ Apostolic Letter Traditionis Custodes. The key point is that from now on permission for the use of a parish church for celebrations of the 1962 Missal may only be granted by the Dicastery. This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

VIDEOThere is no way to watch the interviews with the forewoman of the Georgia Trump phone call grand jury forewoman, Emily Kohrs, and NOT think "Attention seeking weirdo." To that I would add ditzy into the description as well. You might call my categorization of Kohrs a bit cruel until you actually watch these clips from the interviews with her. Then you will call my description, "accurate." Keep in mind this woman was the person that the Georgia grand jury designated to serve as their forewoman. What does that say about that grand jury?

The grand jury’s conclusions flowed from what the DA presented to the Fulton County jurors — a case built on lies about a telephone call.“Jury in Georgia Trump Inquiry Recommended Multiple Indictments, Forewoman Says,” The New York Times blared with its midday breaking news headline on Tuesday. But it is what followed that revealed the real story: that the grand jury recommended bogus charges based on the Fulton County district attorney’s misrepresentation of evidence. “We definitely started with the first phone call, the call to Secretary Raffensperger that was so publicized,” Emily Kohrs, the forewoman of the special purpose grand...

Last week, news broke that multiple Walmart stores across the U.S. would be closing their doors. The retailer previously said that there's no single reason for the closures, only that decisions were made following a "thorough review process," per a statement to Footwear News. According to Walmart, the stores on the chopping block are "underperforming." "We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them," Felicia McCranie, director of global communications at Walmart, said in a statement to Best Life. "We look forward to serving them at our other stores in the surrounding communities and...

The first time I voted for president, I was a college student in New York City in 1980. I was intrigued by Jimmy Carter as he campaigned for re-election, wondering why a southern white man had strong support in the Black community. The sad news that the 98-year old former president is under home hospice care brought back memories of those days of crisis. That summer, I had a chance to see Carter at the NAACP national convention in Miami Beach. It occurred shortly after a riot over police brutality in the predominantly Black neighborhoods of Liberty City and Overton...

Astronomers have spotted a runaway supermassive black hole, seemingly ejected from its home galaxy and racing through space with a chain of stars trailing in its wake. - snip - The researchers discovered the runaway black hole as a bright streak of light while they were using the Hubble Space Telescope to observe the dwarf galaxy RCP 28, located about 7.5 billion light-years from Earth. Follow-up observations showed that the streak measures more than 200,000 light-years long — roughly twice the width of the Milky Way — and is thought to be made of compressed gas that is actively forming...

While President Biden was in Ukraine on Monday, Russia tested an intercontinental ballistic missile that appears to have failed, according to a report. US officials told CNN on Tuesday that Russia used a deconfliction line to notify the US in advance of the missile test, which reportedly did not pose a risk to the country. According to the officials, the US did not view the test as an anomaly or an escalation. The test was of a nuclear-capable heavy SARMAT missile, dubbed Satan II by NATO, and classified as a “superweapon” by the head of Russia’s aerospace research agency. US...

INTERESTING OFFICIAL DOCUMENTS. The Southern papers, the receipt of which we acknowledged yesterday morning, furnish us a number of interesting extracts. AFFAIRS AT VICKSBURGH. The Vicksburgh correspondent of the Jackson (Miss.) Appeal writes under date of Feb. 3: "The passage of the Federal ram Queen of the West by our batteries yesterday morning is regarded here by the non-military as a remarkable affair, and a deal of indignation is expressed against the manner in which the guns of our batteries were served. Some contend that those who were in charge of the batteries were found not only napping, but really...

A previously unknown correspondence shows that Joseph Ratzinger, as head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, knew about Peter H.'s abuses in 1986 at the latest. Despite this, the priest was still employed in pastoral care. As head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger and later Pope Benedict XVI had information about the sexual offences committed by the priest Peter H. against children as early as 1986, research by CORRECTIV and BR shows. This emerges from a previously unknown Vatican document that CORRECTIV and Bayerischer Rundfunk were able to...
