The US economy will likely avoid a recession or even a slowdown as inflation cools, according to Ed Yardeni. "I'm not in the recession camp. I'm in the soft landing camp now and I'm wondering whether it should be in the no landing camp," Yardeni told CNBC.

"It's clear to me this is not a recent phenomenon," he told reporters, saying "this has been going on" since at least 2017. Calling for more transparency, he said: "If you are confused, you understand the situation perfectly." Concluding his comments to the gathered media, Kennedy added: "Lock your doors tonight."

On February 15th, National Wisconsin Day recognizes The Badger State. #NationalWisconsinDay Rich in copper, lead, forest and fertile farmland, Wisconsin became the 30th state on May 29, 1848. In 1634, French explorer Jean Nicolet was the first European to reach Wisconsin while seeking a Northwest passage to China. A mining boom, not fur trading, led to the nickname The Badger State. According to oral history, the miners burrowed into the hillsides much like badgers for shelter instead of setting up more permanent homesteads. The first wave of settlers to the area also began the uprooting of the Ho-Chunk, Menominee, Chippewa...

After obtaining that elusive data, Shendure proceeded to analyze the information using programming languages Python and R, and went on to build the fully interactive website completely from scratch. Within weeks, Shendure said that he discovered that well over 100 people who own private jets are emitting at the very least dozens - and in many cases, hundreds - of times what the average American does in a year, solely through flying. The realization, Shendure said, came as particularly pronounced due to the fact that Americans boast some of the highest carbon emissions per capita in the world. 'It was...

CAPE CORAL, Fla. — Sometimes the situation just calls for a cold one. Just before midnight on February 8th, Lee County Sheriff’s deputies drove North on Chiquita Boulevard. As they approached Gleason Parkway, something caught their eye. A black Mercedes-Benz parked in the opposite lane. The vehicle was just sitting there. Lights on. With no traffic causing the stoppage. Deputies crept behind the car, flicked on their flashing lights, and tried to determine if the vehicle might have been abandoned. As they approached the vehicle, they found 40-year-old Michael Sereda sitting alone in the passenger seat. Beer cans littered the...

New York Senator Rand Paul is spearheading the effort to hold publicly funded medical facilities accountable for withholding lifesaving care, including as organ transplants, from people who are not immunized. On Tuesday, Paul (R-Ky.) presented legislation that would prevent government funds from going to hospitals that have turned away patients because of their COVID-19 vaccination status. Additionally, it would safeguard patients’ freedom to choose their own healthcare without suffering consequences. “No American should be denied access to critical care based on a personal medical decision, yet tragically, many hospitals and other medical facilities continue to discriminate against those unvaccinated for...

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville City Council approved a bill that they said will help make roadways safer and what some believe will crackdown on panhandling. The ordinance passed 16-3 and makes it illegal for someone to stand in the median of a roadway for an extended period of time and to physically interact with any car on the roadway that isn’t illegally parked. This doesn’t just cover the median either. It is now illegal to solicit from the sidewalk or any place near the road.

This clip is from 1979 Harry Reid vs Frank Rosenthal This clip of Rosenthal’s meltdown at a Gaming Commission meeting, then chaired by future senator Reid – taken from Ned Day and Robert Stoldal’s series “Mob on the Run” for KLAS TV – became the basis for a fictionalized scene in Casino (1996). Both Reid and Rosenthal survived subsequent car-bombing attempts. Rosenthal, who ran the Stardust, Fremont, Marina, and Hacienda casinos in the 70s, was formally banned from Nevada casinos in ‘87.

New Republican polling shows that Gov. Jim Justice (R) stands the best chance to beat Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) in West Virginia’s 2024 Senate race. Polling commissioned by the Senate Leadership Fund (SLF) — a super PAC aligned with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) — and obtained by The Hill showed that in three hypothetical matchups between Manchin and several possible Republican challengers, Justice was the only GOP challenger listed who won more support than Manchin among likely registered voters polled.

Dozens of damaged military vehicles with Russian markings could be seen scattered chaotically across a snow-covered field in footage released last week of a battlefield near the eastern Ukrainian mining town of Vuhledar, southwest of the Russian-held city of Donetsk. The hulls of some of the armored vehicles were covered in black soot from what appeared to be recent fires. Lying nearby were tank turrets and other parts from combat vehicles that had been dismembered by explosions. Next to the burned-out vehicles, the drone footage clearly showed the dead bodies of what appeared to be Russian soldiers. The intense fighting...

The U.S. southern border has been weaponized as millions of unvetted foreigners are distributed throughout the country amid the ongoing Biden Border Rush. But how does the Mexican government fit into the big picture? For years, Mexico's illegal immigration policies have been a mishmash. On the one hand, Mexico has its own immigration law and has detained and deported many illegal aliens. On the other hand, Mexico often just lets illegals pass through, correctly assuming most of them are going to the United States. Sometimes Mexico even helps them get to the U.S. border. American leadership makes a big difference....

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport has turned into a sprawling, “dystopian” encampment for the Windy City’s rising homeless population — sparking serious safety concerns among staff and passengers, who say they’ve been followed and harassed. Shocking photos show filthy makeshift shelters set up inside the major travel hub’s terminals. One photo even shows a vagrant collapsed and asleep inside a terminal vestibule. “It’s out of control. None of us feel safe,” Vonkisha Chatman, a custodian who works the overnight shift in Terminal 1 and 2, told CBS News. Chatman said she and her co-workers have been harassed by the unwelcome guests,...

New York City is considering allowing some city employees to work remotely again, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday. When asked during a news conference if he would consider allowing city employees to work from home, Adams said he has already asked city agencies to “come up with creative ways of having flexibility.” Adam’s commitment to operating “as a team” and accommodating remote work is a drastic shift from his stance just a year ago when he decried remote work and famously told New Yorkers: “You can’t stay home in your pajamas all day.” At the time, Adams argued that remote...

(Daily readings from the USCCB)When Jesus and his disciples arrived at Bethsaida, people brought to him a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him. He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. Mark 8:22–23Bethsaida was one of the towns just north of the Sea of Galilee in which Jesus preached. Later in His public ministry, Jesus condemns the town of Bethsaida for its failure to convert. “Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented in...

"It is only right for me to feel this way about you all, because I have you in my heart, since both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel, you all are partakers of grace with me. For God is my witness, how I long for you all with the affection of Christ Jesus" (Phil. 1:7-8). Often the strongest and deepest relationships are forged in the crucible of Christian ministry. Undoubtedly there are people who occupy a special place in your heart. Perhaps you seldom see them or talk to them, but they are on...

A Michigan state representative released a statement in the aftermath of the Michigan State University mass shooting that left three dead and five others wounded, saying, "F**k your thoughts and prayers," and the state needs more gun control laws on the books. "I want to extend my deepest condolences to the Michigan State University community," said Michigan House Majority Whip Ranjeev Puri (D). "What happened in East Lansing is unfortunately far too common. Going to school in America, whether it's pre-school or college, means risking your life every day to the threat of a mass shooting. Yet all we have...
