‘Dystopian’ homeless encampments overtake Chicago’s O’Hare Airport

Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport has turned into a sprawling, “dystopian” encampment for the Windy City’s rising homeless population — sparking serious safety concerns among staff and passengers, who say they’ve been followed and harassed.

Shocking photos show filthy makeshift shelters set up inside the major travel hub’s terminals. One photo even shows a vagrant collapsed and asleep inside a terminal vestibule.

“It’s out of control. None of us feel safe,” Vonkisha Chatman, a custodian who works the overnight shift in Terminal 1 and 2, told CBS News.

Chatman said she and her co-workers have been harassed by the unwelcome guests, who leave litter behind and trash the bathrooms.

“They will come up behind you. This one man followed us last night,” another airport worker, Catherine Thompson, told the news outlet.

Dear Chicago, make your mayor feel unsafe. Very unsafe. Very, very unsafe. Make the b*tch afraid to show her unmatched fulgly face. Long past time to give to the left what they have given to you. Not even close to kidding. And, dammit, quit electing morons DemocRATs.

Yes, it’s a Beetlejuice thing — homelessness & crime, like peas & carrots.

Well, since flying is now like what bus travel used to be, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that airports are becoming more like bus stations.

I think cellphone cameras are a big reason these homeless camps are appearing everywhere.

Mayor Lightfoot’s staff will probably respond to this crisis by handing the homeless folks voter registration cards. Because Chicago needs more Democrat voters. That would solve everything.

Chicago has such a good grasp on things, I think Texas should help them out and ship them their illegals.

Line up the buses!

i can’t believe that’s really happening.
You would think tourist $$ would trump druggies and bums.

That’s a swell idea, but the entire block where she and her kosher “wife” live is guarded 24/7 by at least a dozen on-duty Chicago cops.

Used to be that there were only homeless people when a Republican held the Oval Office.

It must really be bad for the newsies to even mention it during a Democrat _resident.

I think cellphone cameras are a big reason these homeless camps are appearing everywhere.

Perhaps. More likely, it's because many municipalities have decided to stop enforcing drug laws and the myriad of quality-of-life laws that are routinely broken by drug addicts.

Looks like homeless paradise. Shower in the sink, bathrooms, food, heat, tourist. Perfect spot, enjoy.

If I was ever driven to be homeless, a major airport with multiple terminals is where I would want to be.

Open 24/7. Always heated or air-conditioned. Plenty of restroom facilities. So long as you can stay clean and neat, nobody is going to have a problem with you sleeping there as there are many legitimate passengers doing the same thing. You can even earn pocket change for food by returning luggage carts, offering to carry heavy bags for elderly people, etc.

So long as you don't spend too much time in one terminal, you can do this indefinitely and hardly get noticed by airport employees.

There are many examples of people successfully living in airports for weeks, months, and even years at a time. The key is to be inconspicuous and not cause any trouble.

Of course, the dirty and smelly homeless are going to ruin it for everybody else.

I’ve seen homeless people camped out in the long tunnels leading to the subway. I can’t imagine how they get in the terminal.

That the “police” and management of O’hare don’t / can’t do anything is a sign of how bloated and woke Chicago and Illinois have become

Newark has always been the absolute worst airport in the USA, but Chicago O’hare IMO has always been a close second, so this doesn’t come as a surprise.
