Attack On Europe: Documenting Russian Equipment Losses During The 2022 Russian Invasion Of Ukraine
ORYX ^ | Since February 24, 2022 and daily | ORYX

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the origin of a piece of equipment can't be established, it is not included in the list. The Soviet flag is used when the equipment in question was produced prior to 1991. This list is constantly updated as additional footage becomes available.

6 more tanks lost by the invaders.

Using my assumption that 80% of RuZZian losses are cataloged, that would put total ‘potential’ losses at 1733/.8 = 2166!

-—> Ukraine Situation Report: Front Lines ‘Quite Stable’ Top US General Says <——
So far, the Russian offensive is largely a “grinding battle of attrition” in and around Bakhmut, Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Mark Milley said.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/ukraine-situation-report-front-lines-quite-stable-top-us-general-says

Excerpts:
The Russians, he [Milley] said, “primarily the Wagner group, are attacking but there’s a what I would describe as a really a very significant grinding battle of attrition with very high casualties, especially on the Russian side. There’s no fancy arts of maneuver going on here. This is frontal attacks. Wave attacks. Lots of artillery with extremely high levels of casualties in that particular area.”

Despite the heavy costs in terms of personnel and equipment Ukraine is incurring while defending Bakhmut, the U.S. is not telling Kyiv what to do there, the White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters in Washington Tuesday.

“I am certainly not going to talk about any of the conversations that we have with the Ukrainians,” Kirby said when asked if the U.S. was advising Kyiv to surrender and conserve its resources for an offensive later on this year.

“They decide what operations they’re going to conduct and with what energy and resources they’re going to conduct them,” Kirby said. “We don’t do that for them. We don’t tell them what to do or what not to do.”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “has been very clear about how he regards the fighting,” said Kirby. ‘He and his military have been fighting bravely to prevent it from falling to the Russians, more specifically to Mr. Prigozhin and his ex-convicts.”

“In terms of whether or not Russia is massing its aircraft for some massive aerial attack, we don’t currently see that,” he said. “We do know that Russia has a substantial number of aircraft in its inventory and a lot of capability and that’s why we need to do everything that we can to get Ukraine as much air defense capability as we possibly can.”

“Ukraine has been at this for a year and so they have used a lot of artillery ammunition,” he said. “We’re going to do everything we can working with our international partners to ensure that we give them as much ammunition as quickly as possible and that we will do everything we can to sustain our efforts there as well.”

Austin added that by giving Ukrainian troops “additional training on maneuver...there’s a good chance that they’ll require less artillery munitions, but that’s left to be seen.”

All told, the U.S. and its allies “have committed nearly $50 billion in lethal assistance to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s all-out invasion last February 24th,” Austin said.

“Norway will donate 8 tanks and up to 4 special purpose tanks to Ukraine, according to the Norwegian government. “We are also earmarking funds to ammunition and spare parts, says Minister of Defence Bjørn Arild Gram.”

Bradleys are heading east from Germany.

As its all-out war on Ukraine drags on, Russia is forced to move personnel and equipment from many locations to back-fill losses. The latest appears to be troops from the Kola Peninsula, where Russia’s Olenya Air Base is home to Tu-22M Backfire bombers, but also serves as a staging location for Tu-95 Bears.

“The land forces on Kola are reduced to a fifth of their original numbers before the invasion of Ukraine,” the Chief of the Norwegian Intelligence Service, Vice Admiral Nils Andreas Stensønes told the Barents Observer.

-—> Balloon-Like Object Closed Down Moldova’s Airspace Next To Ukraine Today <——
The mysterious balloon-like object appeared over Moldova and Romania amid reports that Russia is launching radar-confusing balloon decoys over Ukraine.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/balloon-like-object-closed-down-moldovas-airspace-next-to-ukraine-today

Excerpts:
Moldova briefly closed down its airspace earlier today, following reports of what was described as a balloon-like object over the country, close to the border with Ukraine.

The incident came less than 24 hours after Moldova accused the Kremlin of plotting to bring down its government and amid reports that Russia is making use of decoy balloons launched over Ukraine, to confuse its radars.

Moldova’s neighbor Romania also reported that it had detected a small weather balloon in its airspace today, and it scrambled two MiG-21 Lancer fighter jets (as seen at the top of this story) to investigate.

The pilots were unable to confirm whether the object was still there. Moldova, unlike Romania, no longer operates any combat aircraft, with just a handful of transports and helicopters currently in use.

The precise nature of the aerial object remains unclear at this stage.

However, the incident comes hot on the heels of reports from Ukraine that Russia is now making use of balloons fitted with radar reflectors to confuse Ukrainian radar systems.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces recently claimed that several of these balloons had been brought down by its air defense systems ahead of an attack by Russian-operated, Iranian-supplied Shahed-type ‘kamikaze’ drones.

Whatever is going on behind the scenes, Moldova finds itself at a critical crossroads, and its proximity to both Russia and Ukraine means that it’s very much a potential flashpoint in Eastern Europe. With tensions already high, incidents such as today’s reported airspace incursion provide a reminder of the serious underlying issues at play.

-—> Seized Iranian Weapons Could Go To Ukraine: Report <——
The U.S. government has thousands of guns, millions of rounds of ammo, and more that’s been seized heading from Iran to Yemen.
https://www.thedrive.com/the-war-zone/seized-iranian-weapons-could-go-to-ukraine-report

Excerpts:
U.S. government is reportedly considering sending Ukraine weapons and ammunition previously seized as part of efforts to combat Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. The transfers could include assault rifles and associated ammunition, as well as anti-tank guided missiles, among other things.

U.S. officials said they are looking at sending Ukraine more than 5,000 assault rifles, 1.6 million rounds of small arms ammunition, a small number of antitank missiles, and more than 7,000 proximity fuses seized in recent months off the Yemen coast from smugglers suspected of working for Iran,” according to The Journal. “The unusual move would open up a new supply of firepower [that] America and its allies could tap into as they struggle to meet Ukraine’s need for military support as its war with Russia enters its second year.”

The first seizure, conducted by U.S. forces, came on December 1, 2022. “More than 1 million rounds of 7.62mm ammunition; 25,000 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition; nearly 7,000 proximity fuses for rockets; and over 2,100 kilograms of propellant used to launch rocket propelled grenades,” were captured,

Pictures that the command subsequently released showed more specifically 7.62x54mmR and 12.7x99mm small arms ammunition of indeterminate origin and Iranian-made M122-K proximity fuzes for use with 122mm artillery rockets.

Another seizure on January 6, again carried out by U.S. Forces, netted “more than 2,000 AK-47 assault rifles,” CENTCOM said.

Pictures of the captured weapons showed that they were actually a mixture of Chinese-style 7.62x39mm Type 56-1 rifles, a derivative of the Soviet-designed AK family, or Iranian clones thereof, and what appeared to be Russian-made Molot VEPR VPO-158N-06s.

The VPO-158N-06, also known as the AKS20U, is a semi-automatic only version of the 5.45x39mm AKS-74U compact assault rifle primarily intended for sale on the civilian market.

On January 15, French forces captured “more than 3,000 assault rifles, 578,000 rounds of ammunition and 23 advanced anti-tank guided missiles were recovered,” according to CENTCOM.

Pictures that were released afterward again showed what looked to be Type 56-1-style and VPO-158N-06 rifles, as well as Soviet-designed 7.62x54mmR PK-series machine guns, or derivatives. The missiles appeared to be Soviet-design Kornets or Iranian-made clones, called Dehlaviyeh.

••Day 356.

Today there is some good news.

The Russians continued prioritizing their least successful direction and throwing their best forces in an attempt to capture Vuhledar.

Despite successfully rebuffing previous Russian attacks, the Ukrainians have found a way how to destroy Russian attackers even more easily because today it was reported that they eliminated a Russian commander in charge of the assault units with a precision strike, which allowed them to destroy the disorganized troops on the ground much faster.

Last time I told you that the Russians attempted to penetrate the front line west of Vuhledar in order to create a bulge, stretch Ukrainian reserves, and diminish the supply and support of Vuhledar.

As you remember, the Ukrainians met the attackers with fire and prevented them from establishing control over the hills. But as it turned out, the Ukrainians did not stop there.

Today a Russian commander of the forces located in this region reported that the Ukrainians immediately launched a counterattack.

Some sources indicate that as a result of this counterattack, the Ukrainians have pushed the Russians back to their initial positions across the river.

After that, some Russian sources said that several Ukrainian groups were spotted between Prechystivka and Pavlivka, they concluded that the Ukrainians were preparing to further penetrate Russian defenses and that the Russians prudently scared them off with artillery.

However, today’s reports about a successful Ukrainian precision strike on the Russian command post of the East battalion strongly indicates that the Ukrainians were not planning an attack, they were just sending reconnaissance groups into the Russian territory.

While the Ukrainians were conducting this reconnaissance mission, the Russians launched yet another assault in the direction of the hamlet east of Vuhledar.

But because the Ukrainian HIMARS strike on the Russian headquarters killed the headquarters commander, the coordination of Russian forces was undermined, and the Ukrainians quickly repelled the Russian attack.

Another Russian commander said that this was a smart move on the part of the Ukrainians because if you destroy the army headquarters - the battle will continue, but if you destroy the battalion headquarters - the battle will quickly die out because battalion headquarters are most involved in the process of managing and collecting and analyzing what is happening on the ground.

All other headquarters build their understanding of the current situation mainly from battalion-level reports.

He added that they were ready for such developments and had prepared alternative ways, but, as many speculate, this was likely added to avoid problems with the higher command.

The most recent updates indicate that the Russians became quieter, which suggests that their further attacks were either put on hold or canceled. This is not the first commander that the Russians have lost here.

Around a week ago, in one of the disastrous Russian attacks, the Russians also lost a colonel [14th Separate Special Guards Brigade, Sergey Polyakov] who was in charge of the whole brigade.

The fact the Russians continue committing significant amounts of resources to the Vuhledar area despite high losses clearly signals that taking Vuhledar is imperative for achieving broader goals.

Furthermore, recently published geolocated footage showed the aftermath of a Russian thermobaric artillery strike near Vuhledar.

As noted by the Institute for the Study of War, thermobaric artillery systems are military district-level assets, which suggests that Russian forces put a high priority on Vuhledar.

Thermobaric artillery is a devastating weapon, but its main shortcoming is that its range is only 4 kilometers, making it an easy target.

The Ukrainians are hunting down these artillery systems, so the Russians usually used them only as the last cause.

The fact that the Russians are continuously engaging them despite very effective counterbattery fire once again emphasizes the importance of Vuhledar.

In order to take advantage of the opportunity to destroy these rare Russian artillery systems, the Ukrainians have relocated to the Vuhledar area another artillery brigade, and now Vuhledar should have as much artillery support as Bakhmut.

Overall, the Russians are spending their resources at a much faster rate than previously, which signals the urgent need for the success of operational significance before they can launch an attack of strategic significance.

Nonetheless, the Ukrainians continue holding their main strongholds and forcing the Russians to put all their plans on hold by rebuffing their attacks.

Recent developments, in particular, the death of several commanders responsible for the battalions and brigades is a much bigger setback because, firstly, they need to cancel their plans and find a replacement, and secondly, the replacements will unlikely be as experienced as previous commanders, which will undermine Russian performance even more.

Prigozhin admitted that he created and financed a “troll factory”

Excerpt:
According to the FBI, Prigozhin was the main sponsor of the St. Petersburg company “Internet Research Agency” and authorized a massive information campaign inside the United States in order to influence the outcome of the presidential election. The FBI statement also says that the agency and Prigozhin were behind the theft of personal data of US citizens and the creation of hundreds of fake accounts in social networks. Denys says:
South of Bakhmut, Russians tried to advance on Chasiv Yar, but were pushed back from the road to Ivanivske, back past the forest strips. North of Bakhmut, the Russian had a small part of the road, but were pushed back there also.

The Wagner SU-24 hit yesterday landed safely, but has significant damage, and will not fly again for a long time.

Yesterday’s images of US equipment, Bradleys, MANRAPS, supply trucks, etc were for NATO allies and for Ukraine - not all are going to Ukraine.

Ramstein Conference: confirmed to send more armor, more artillery systems, more ammo. Talk about fighters And tactical planes, like the A-10, which is the only Western version possible. But it’s too early to supply jets to Ukraine; maybe in the March meeting. Ulraine pilots already had F-16 training and are now training on Euro Fighters.

Norway will send 8 Leopard 2 tanks and support vehicles; Germany sending more RST anti-air systems, the best middle range system; UK will supply Shadow Storm rockets [350miles], but they need western fighters to launch them.

Huge fire at Moscow R&D center building was demolished. It was used for research into electronics for cruise missiles and other military equipment.

Russia planned to launch its huge attack in the north toward Lyman, but was unable to gather sufficient forces and it all bogged down.

In Bakhmut the volunteer worker, Pete Reid, wearing civilian clothes in, was killed by a Wagner Group artillery shell because they thought his aide van was UA. There is film of it showing him carrying food to some displaced people sitting on a curb when the shell struck the van, killing them all.

Film of local Ukrainian militia dragging some guy off the street in Odessa of serve in their forces. Very wrong. Against Ukraine law. Relates story of fellow pilots who had military experience and would be fantastic pilots for the UA, but were placed in the infantry. These guys will not resent to the front because they have connections. Corruption in the UA army drives him mad.

Still at it. That’s devotion!

One morning you’re going to wake up to find out nothing is as it seems, at least for you.

Have you noticed all you do is go on a diatribe but others do not even post anything relevant regards what you’re saying anymore?

Do you know why?

Because even though you “may” believe the US MSM and official government narrative (which of course is not propaganda but all factual, objective and moral) no one else believes it anymore. It’s like in the Cold War, only today we are the ones with Pravda and censorship and no one really believes the crap spewed.

May that be the gibberish of the triumphant Ukrainians and all these BS casualty reports and claims of impending future counter offensives where they will take back Crimea (Hahaha) reminiscent of Vietnam where we did the same thing to keep up morale. The constant mentioning of how this invasion was unprovoked when most know that’s not entirely true. The big talk about how the Russian economy is imploding which it isn’t. The stories how Putin is ill or about to be killed / ousted which he hasn’t...

***People don’t believe that crap anymore and they have grown tired of it.***

You’re like the cheerleader that is full of energy and screaming about how the other team is going to get crushed while being down 45 points: https://sports.betmgm.com/en/blog/nfl/biggest-blowouts-super-bowl-history-bm03/#:~:text=What%27s%20the%20Biggest%20Blowout%20in,45%20points%2C%2055%2D10. You’re getting your ass handed to you, but man are you jumping and screaming for those 10 points scored.

It’s costing the people (>$100 Billion so far and that’s just us) in a time of high inflation and economic malaise and they are realizing that. Even our allies are beginning to pull back. In some cases, the economic sanctions are hurting them more than Russia who fairly quickly found others to buy their gas, oil, and coal i.e. India and China. Meanwhile, the German economy is tanking and folks are confronted with rationing and their government knows very well who caused this war and was behind the pipelines being destroyed (The Germans wanted Minsk enforced and we undermined it. It was us that gave the green light for NATO membership)!

Long term (many years): we just killed NATO.

Mid term: you are seeing China and Russia come together and the Russian Indian alliance strengthening.

Short term: NONE OF OUR POLITICAL AND MILITARY OBJECTIVES HAVE BEEN ACCOMPLISHED, NONE.

- Political: Ukraine will NOT be a NATO member and you can forget EU.

- Military: Ukraine has lost Eastern Ukraine and ~20% of it’s landmass and population, including a major industrial area and port city.

Remember this thread - let’s readdress in a year, OK?

You forget morality. You also forget Ukraine’s military objectives that have been reached.

The Russian army was thrown back from Kiev losing even rear echelon self-propelled artillery and all manner of armored vehicles.

The Russian army was pushed back from Kharkov.

A major metropolitan area, Kherson, was completely liberated from the Russian forces.

Ukrainians from the Donbas have not given up on liberating their hometowns. Sure, we can check back on your pro-Bolshevik predictions in the future. They might be just as accurate as NorseViking’s predictions like his early war prophesy that Kiev would fall within days.
