NYC considering allowing city employees to work remotely: Adams

New York City is considering allowing some city employees to work remotely again, Mayor Eric Adams said Tuesday.

When asked during a news conference if he would consider allowing city employees to work from home, Adams said he has already asked city agencies to “come up with creative ways of having flexibility.”

Adam’s commitment to operating “as a team” and accommodating remote work is a drastic shift from his stance just a year ago when he decried remote work and famously told New Yorkers: “You can’t stay home in your pajamas all day.”

At the time, Adams argued that remote workers were hurting service-oriented businesses that rely on a steady stream of customers.

“That accountant that’s not in his office space is not going to the cleaners,” Adams said during a speech last February at the state Democratic Committee’s Nominating Convention.

So, NYCers can work in a civilized location rather than the city?

Deep State doesn’t care.

The public exists to service our so-called public servants.

I’d love to see these New Yawk idiots fix a broken water main from home. That would be a real trip.

Just furthering the grift. These politicians have no regard for being faithful stewards of the hard working, law abiding citizens’ taxes.

I’m guessing that includes the sanitation workers.

Due to the rank smells here in Manhattan, I don't blame the sanitation workers for wanting to work from home either.

Remote work can lower costs and compensation for NYC government. If the work gets done AND the city saves money then why not?

Haven’t they been doing this for years with city union “no show” jobs?

I can remember the prestige and pride of having an office on Manhattan.

Now it’s a costly burden.

"NYC considering allowing city employees to work remotely"

NYC sanitation workers should appreciate not have to work around smelly garbage cans and sewers.

So how can they pick up the garbage working remotely?
I’m glad I’ve never been to the sewer called NYC!

He was right the first time…and economy depends on people being there. However, he’s made the city such an unpleasant place nobody wants to be there.

Why doesn’t he try making it safer and cleaner first?

Business owners put money in Eric Adams pockets and told him to force people into his city.

The taxpayers got screwed when the city could only retain or hire people willing to do so.

New York City, like any other employer, needs to expand their potential pool of employees to include those who live too far away to commute, or the city will suffer accordingly. New York City, like most cities, is too expensive for employees to live in at the wages the city government deems sufficient. The working class can't afford to pay their own rents, much less subsidize the homeless people, the illegal alien invaders, and welfare recipients.
