Attorney General Merrick Garland launched a special counsel investigation into former President Donald Trump on Friday, the week before Thanksgiving, to ensure a permanent prosecution of public enemy number one on a third bid for the White House. The special counsel, Garland said, will take over the investigation of Trump’s purported mishandling of presidential records and probe whether Trump can be held criminally liable for the events that unfolded on Jan. 6, 2021. The former is a desperate follow-up to the latter after the House Select Committee on Jan. 6 emerged empty-handed from an 18-month investigation. “It is in the...

Our commentator puts the case of the Carmel in Philadelphia in a larger context of the crisis in the Church which started with the Second Vatican Council, and he issues a sort of battle cry, calling Catholics to resistance.(LifeSiteNews) — LifeSite’s recent reports on Rome’s suppression of a historic Carmel monastery in Philadelphia, which was the first foothold in the U.S. for the devotion to St. Therese of Lisieux, has received many responses. Many Catholics, not only in Philadelphia, but in the entire U.S., are indignant about how Rome tried to discourage the preservation of this Carmel, whose founding sister...

[Catholic Caucus] “Is There a Mass of the Council?” — Article by Michael Charlier “Is There a Mass of the Council?” — Article by Michael Charlier Papal High Mass with Pope John XXIII in St. Peter's Basilica for the opening of the Council(Published in German on November 19, 2022: source.)Funny question — of course there is. It is the Mass celebrated by 10,000 participating priests and bishops on all days of the Council, and by the Roman clergy as well: the Mass whose Ordo had been purged of some of the errors of the then-modern age after the Council...

The cases were weeks apart and eerily similar: Two young men at popular New York City gay bars. They each left with at least one mysterious person. They were both found dead. Both of their bank accounts were drained. And they may not be the only ones. More gay New Yorkers are coming forward for the first time with accounts that share notable similarities to the unexplained deaths this spring of Julio Ramirez, 25, a social worker, and John Umberger, 33, a political consultant. The biggest difference so far: They survived. ...

At a Nov. 15 hearing on cannabis reform at the federal level, House Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) said President Joe Biden’s pardon of people convicted of “simple possession” of marijuana under federal law was “a good first step,” and added that the next step is that “cannabis must be decriminalized at the federal level as a matter of basic justice in the country.” Under current federal law, marijuana is classified as a Schedule 1 illegal drug, which means it has a “high potential for abuse” and is not a “currently accepted medical treatment in the U.S.,” according to Drugs.com. The practice of adding ‘leap seconds’ to official clocks to keep them in sync with Earth’s rotation will be put on hold from 2035, the world’s foremost metrology body has decided. The decision was made by representatives from governments worldwide at the General Conference on Weights and Measures (CGPM) outside Paris on 18 November. It means that from 2035, or possibly earlier, astronomical time (known as UT1) will be allowed to diverge by more than one second from coordinated universal time (UTC), which is based on the steady tick of atomic clocks. Since 1972, whenever the two time systems have...

~ GIVING THANKS ~ Psalm 92:1 - 5 1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: 2 To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, 3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. 4 For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. 5 O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep." Cameron Bertuzzi, a popular Protestant YouTube host, announced Thursday online that he is in the process of converting to Catholicism. “So, the big announcement is that on Sept. 20, 2022, I decided to become Catholic. I’m currently in an RCIA program and will be confirmed this coming Easter,” Bertuzzi said in a YouTube video. His conversion “came at the tail end of a deep study into the evidence for and against the papacy,” he said. “As a Protestant, I went into the study with an open mind. Ultimately, I told myself that I would follow the evidence wherever it leads,...

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Four University of Idaho students who were found dead in a rental house near campus were stabbed to death in their beds and likely were asleep when they were attacked, a county coroner told a cable news channel. Latah County Coroner Cathy Mabbutt also told NewsNation on Thursday that each victim suffered multiple stab wounds from a “pretty large knife.” “It has to be somebody pretty angry in order to stab four people to death,” Mabbutt told NewsNation. The victims were stabbed in the chest and upper body, the coroner said. Efforts by The Associated Press...

The Biden Department of Justice has some explaining to do. Police body camera footage of the attack on Paul Pelosi contradicts what federal officials had claimed happened on that day. It's the latest revelation of what has turned into extraordinarily bizarre coverage and conflicting stories about the attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband. There are contradictory accounts surrounding the details of who opened the door to the house on the night of the attack when San Francisco police arrived at Pelosi's house. Biden's Department of Justice claimed, according to a federal indictment filed earlier this week, that "two officers opened the...
