A sense of unreality continues to permeate Russia and their claims to annexation of southern Ukraine, and that may be almost literally. Newsweek reports today that the Kremlin added “fake cheers” to Vladimir Putin’s speech on Friday announcing the annexation to sell this glorious nonsense to a Russian audience that has clearly grown tired of the war. And speaking of the audience … Unedited footage from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s annexation speech in Moscow on Friday appears to show fake cheers were edited onto clips broadcast on state TV, while reports say that people were bussed in to attend the...

SVIATOHIRSK/KYIV (Reuters) - Ukrainian forces have broken through Russia’s defences in the south of the country while expanding their rapid offensive in the east, seizing back more territory in areas annexed by Moscow and threatening supply lines for Russian troops. Making their biggest breakthrough in the south since the war began, Ukrainian forces recaptured several villages in an advance along the strategic Dnipro River on Monday, Ukrainian officials and a Russian-installed leader in the area said. The southern breakthrough mirrors recent Ukrainian advances in the east, even as Moscow has tried to raise the stakes by annexing land, ordering mobilisation,...

CHICAGO (CBS) -- It has been happening with frightening regularity – children in Chicago are being shot, and in many cases killed, while riding in cars with family. As CBS 2's Sabrina Franza reported Monday, one child of course is too many. But there have been five kids shot this year in Chicago while sitting in the back seats of their parents' cars. "We actually are seeing relatively the same numbers as we saw last year, and last year was definitely an uptick from the prior year," said Dr. Marion Henry, a pediatric trauma surgeon at the University of Chicago's...

When a student complained that a San Diego middle school classroom had Adolf Hitler’s picture placed on a wall next to positive historical leaders, the teacher allegedly responded that “Hitler may have done some bad things, but he also had strong leadership qualities.” According to the StopAntisemitism advocacy organization, the teacher’s reply was in reference to the student’s request to have Hitler’s photo removed from the class wall of inspirational leaders. “‘Hitler may have done some bad things, but he also had strong leadership qualities’ - Tabitha Barry, 7th grade teacher at Carmel Valley Middle School in San Diego. Politico appears to believe that the mountains of cash that taxpayers dish out to the federal government belong to President Joe Biden’s own “wallet.” The liberal outlet tried to go after Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis for being a persistent Biden critic, and ended up making itself look totally stupid in the process. Politico harrumphed: “Gov. Ron DeSantis has been a persistent critic of President Joe Biden on nearly every policy front as he moves toward a likely potential 2024 presidential bid. But the Florida Republican likes one thing about the president: his wallet.” Yikes.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Joe Biden will announce new guidelines and grants to protect reproductive rights on Tuesday, and describe how abortion rights have been curtailed since the Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to terminating pregnancies. VIDEOI really HATE unisex changing rooms and bathrooms. Do I have some sort of weird hangup? No. The reason from my animus towards unisex is that several years ago Target stores suddenly got woke and decided that if a man identified as a woman then he could use the women's restrooms at Target. Essentially they made the restrooms unisex. And the type of men who would use a woman's restroom could be easily classified as sicko creeps which is why women quickly began avoiding Target. And as a result of the completely predictable drop in Target business, around 2016 they...

The presence of some fungal species in tumors predicts—and may even help drive—worse cancer outcomes. The study provides a scientific framework to develop tests to delineate in tumors specific fungal species that are relevant for prediction of cancer progression and therapy. The results also point to the possibility of using antifungal treatments to augment conventional cancer treatments. The idea that viruses and bacteria can trigger or accelerate cancer development is now well established. However, little is known about the cancer-related roles of fungi. The analysis revealed that the DNA of certain fungal species are relatively abundant in some tumor types....

This list only includes destroyed vehicles and equipment of which photo or videographic evidence is available. Therefore, the amount of equipment destroyed is significantly higher than recorded here. Small arms, ATGMs, MANPADS, loitering munitions, drones used as unmanned bait, civilian vehicles, trailers and derelict equipment are not included in this list. All possible effort has gone into avoiding duplicate entries and discerning the status of equipment between captured or abandoned. Many of the entries listed as 'abandoned' will likely end up captured or destroyed. Similarly, some of the captured equipment might be destroyed if it can't be recovered. When the...

Reasons for the retreat near Kherson. Of the units I am acquainted with, almost all of them reached out, losses are small. The men fought like lions, but this time fortune was not in their favor. The reasons I see are: 1. No unit rotation. Units of the 126th Brigade have been fighting since March. Soldiers would go on leave for five days at best. Seven months on the front line without rotation. Constant battles, wounds, experienced and seasoned men were bombarded for seven months in a row. End of August, these same guys knocked out the AFU’s 128th Transcarpathian...

Los Angeles Rams linebackers Bobby Wagner and Takkarist McKinley tackled an animal rights activist who disrupted the team’s game against the San Francisco 49ers during Monday Night Football. Just before halftime, a member of Direct Action Everywhere, an animal rights group, who were attending Monday night’s game ran across the 49ers Levi’s Stadium with a device releasing red and pink smoke to raise awareness about a massive pig factory farm allegedly hiding its abuses inside the facility. The nonprofit reports Allison Fluty and Alex Taylor were cited, with one still in police custody, after running onto the field at separate...

A Bloomberg TV host pushed back against Columbia University economist Jeffrey Sachs on Monday when he suggested that the U.S. and Poland are probably behind the destruction of the Nord Stream pipeline. "A lot of the world is watching these events in horror," Sachs said. "They view this as a horrible clash between Russia and the U.S. They don't see this, as we do in the media, as an unprovoked attack by Russia on Ukraine." "Most of the world doesn't see it the way we describe it. Most of the world is just terrified right now, frankly," he added. "The...

Germany's largest power producer RWE said on Tuesday it is bringing forward its coal phase-out by eight years and is ready to end lignite-based electricity generation in 2030 as part of a deal reached with the government. However, faced with a Europe-wide energy crisis after Russia slashed gas deliveries following its invasion of Ukraine, RWE said it would temporarily boost its use of power plants fuelled by heavily polluting lignite, or brown coal. "In the current crisis, we are contributing to security of supply in Germany by temporarily increasing the use of our lignite-fired power plants, and are thus also...
