A new ad for Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney features former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson, a political icon in the state, backing Cheney's re-election. But in an interview with NBC News about the ad, the Wyoming political giant minced few words about his frustration with former President Donald Trump, who is backing a primary challenge against Cheney over her repeated criticism of the former president. In the ad, Simpson joins a handful of others — including prominent Wyoming politicians — with a simple message: "Join me in voting for Liz Cheney on August 16th," Simpsons says, while the screen simply...

RALEIGH, N.C. (WGHP) – There should be no such thing as a free charge for an electronic vehicle unless there is also free gasoline and diesel fuel for all other motorists. (Reuters) - Wall Street’s main indexes tumbled in midday trading on Tuesday as a sharp drop in consumer confidence brought to the fore growth risks from rising inflation. The Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 shed the initial gains from a rise in bank shares as the latest batch of economic data raised doubts on the U.S. economy’s resilience to withstand hefty interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve. The consumer confidence index dropped 4.5 points to a reading of 98.7 in June, a Conference Board survey showed, as consumers anticipated economic growth would weaken significantly in the...

During an interview with "CBS Mornings" Tuesday, twice failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton launched an attack on the character of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. But just two weeks ago, liberal Justice Sonia Sotomayor, who works with Justice Thomas nearly every day, detailed how kind and generous he is. "I suspect that I have disagreed with him more than any other Justice...and yet, Justice Thomas is the one Justice in the building that literally knows every employee's name. Every one of them. And not only does he know their names, he remembers their families' names and histories. He's the...

VIDEOLife really does imitate art!!! One of the funniest SCTV skits ever was "Play It Again, Bob" in which Woody Allen tries to convince Bob Hope to be directed by him. It was funny because it seemed to be highly unlikely. Or at least it seemed to be unlikely until Woody Allen himself confirmed it during his Instagram interview with Alec Baldwin. Oh, and Woody Allen also expressed a desire to have directed Jerry Lewis. If the SCTV writers had pitched the latter scenario, the producers would have probably nixed it since they already went out on the limb with...

Artist's illustration of VY Canis Majoris. (NASA, ESA, Roberta Humphreys (UMN), Joseph Olmsted (STScI)) Three-dimensional models of astronomical objects can be ridiculously complex. They can range from black holes that light doesn't even escape to the literal size of the Universe and everything in between. But not every object has received the attention needed to develop a complete model of it, but we can officially add another highly complex model to our lists. Astronomers at the University of Arizona have developed a model of VY Canis Majoris, a red hypergiant that is quite possibly the largest star in the Milky...

Democrats need a strong voice ready to fight to restore women’s rights, now that the Supreme Court has struck down Roe v. Wade. There’s only one Hillary Clinton. Right-wingers on the Supreme Court rescinding the constitutional right to abortion “is incredibly dangerous and it is not just about a woman’s right to choose. It is about much more than that,” Clinton told CBS News back in May, when a draft version of Friday’s decision emerged. “Any American who says, ‘Look, I’m not a woman, this doesn’t affect me. I’m not Black, that doesn’t affect me. I’m not gay, that doesn’t...
