The former Senate sergeant-at-arms who oversaw security during last year’s Capitol insurrection has died — one day before Tuesday’s hearing to present new evidence.
Michael Stenger, who resigned a day after pro-Trump rioters easily stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, died Monday morning, Politico reported.
The Marine Corps veteran, 71, spent 35 years in the Secret Service before joining the Senate sergeant-at-arms team in 2011. He was later appointed to the post in 2018. Former colleagues were notified of his death Monday afternoon, Politico reported.

If you mean the recently deceased Michael Stenger, age 71, who found dead at his home yesterday morning, maybe his body is at the coroner’s or maybe at a funeral home. How should I know?
I suppose the Michael Stenger who was shot and killed in California in 2013 at age 20 has long since been laid to rest.

Since he died at home an autopsy would need to be done prior to disclosure as well. Thus no cause of death, yet. It won’t matter what it entails, no matter facts, it’ll still reach a feverish and hysterical conspiracy. 😜

True, but I have no way of knowing whether the coroner is done with the body and sent along to funeral yet or not. Even if it’s a clear cut case (massive heart attack, gunshot, etc.), it can take some days for the report to be finished and death certificate issued.
In the meantime, there will be wild speculation. I feel so sad for his family having to endure this on top of his death.

No hard feelings at all :) We can’t see each others’ facial expressions or hear the tone of words, so these sorts of misunderstandings happen.
Also, emotions have been running high around here with so many posters snapping and snarling at each other, it’s easy to become so accustomed to rudeness that it feels like a default.
It just now occurred to me why you asked that maybe?
My post was to clear up the confusion between the two Michael Stengers. There had already been four or five threads here with that same “he was shot” rumor based on the tweet of someone who was either a liar or the dupe of a liar. The tweet quoted a court report about the murder trial of the man accused of shooting 20-year-old Michael Stenger in California in 2013 — but leaving out the date and claiming it was the 71-year-old Michael Stenger who died yesterday.
Because it had already been discussed so much on other threads, I did not make clear there are two Michael Stengers, *both deceased*, in my post.
So you thought I was trying to say the Michael Stenger who died yesterday was still alive(?). I can see how you might think I was saying that now, but at the time, I could not for the life of me figure out why anyone would ask me where a dead man was.
So I misunderstood you, too, and apologize for that!
It’s really a bit a comical, now that’s all cleared up. Like a Monty Python or Roseanne Roseannadanna sketch.
