‘What’s done is done’: Okanagan man one of the first in Canada to be compensated for vaccine injury

Being able to walk, albeit with orthopedic braces, is not something Ross Wightman takes for granted.

Wightman, 40, suffers from Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare condition that affects the nervous system.

A husband and father of two young boys, the Lake Country man said he was diagnosed with the disorder last spring, less than two weeks after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine.

“At that point, (the concern was around) blood clotting,” Wightman said, reflecting on when he took the vaccine.

“But I figured it was best just to get it over with and move on with life, hopefully, and, you know, do the right thing.”

Just days after getting the shot, he started to experience extreme back pain.

“The pain got worse and worse,” Wightman said.

He was diagnosed with the disorder and spent the next 67 days in the hospital.

Now, after nearly a year of paperwork and medical submissions, Wightman is one of only a handful of Canadians to have the illness validated as a vaccine-related injury by the federal government.

He’s now been approved for compensation from the Vaccine Injury Support Program.

“I’d rather not be in that club, in a heartbeat,” he said. “It’s nice to have some recognition and there’s vindication.”

This is unpossible. We were assured it was “safe and effective”..

Wait a minute. He was concerned about blood clotting before getting a clot shot. But instead he got GBS?

What a fool. He deserves what he gets. I wouldn’t have awarded him any settlement due to his “eyes wide open” understanding of how dangerous this vaccine is.

Per the article, no max smount for him.

He’d be far better off suing.

Does Canada have something similar to the US PREP Act that would make it impossible for him to do so?

Well, lookee here, from 2020 and our neighbor to the north...

Coronavirus vaccine makers are shielded from liability. Here’s why officials say that’s normal

The lawyers will love this.

Will be bigger than the talcum powder settlement bigger than the tobacco settlement

There are literally hundreds of thousands who were given the choice of “Shot, or you are suspended and/or fired immediately without pay”.

I am one of them, but was able to put in my retirement paperwork THE DAY the demand was made of ALL staff in the health system.

So, would you get the shot? Or starve yourself and your family? Because THAT was the choice forced on him and many others.

Before one judges, perhaps researching a little information about the individual situation would prevent one looking like an ass.

I just looked at your screen name. Accurate choice.

Everybody in Canada and California should be compensated for their abridged liberties during the period of Covid tyranny.

You’re correct. All the while telling people/employees that sometimes you don’t HAVE do get the jab; but you know, you’ll get extra freedoms, rights, eligible for vaccine lottery prizes, and of course, get to keep your job if you simply “choose” to get the jab. 😡

You bring up points not mentioned in the excerpt or my comment.

Therefore your snarky reply to me is unjustified and makes YOU look like an ass.
