In the wake of yet another mass shooting, some Texas politicians have called for increased mental health services to help prevent the next tragedy. But experts working in the field warn that there is no fully effective solution to stop these shootings before they happen, with some saying that blaming mental health is a deflection from the fact that gun control is a necessary part of prevention. "We can do all the things we can to help students, but at the end of the day, if a student has the notion to go shoot up a school and has access...

Prices are soaring, there are widespread shortages of certain items such as baby formula all over the nation, and at the same time U.S. economic activity appears to be really slowing down. Considering all of that, it makes perfect sense why the American people are feeling so negative about the economy right now. In fact, a whopping 85 percent of all Americans believe that there will be a recession within the next year. These days, it is virtually impossible to get Americans to overwhelmingly agree about anything, and so the fact that 85 percent of us are anticipating a recession...

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said Sunday that bipartisan negotiations on possible gun legislation are now underway, coming days after a mass shooting in Texas that left 21 dead. Speaking to ABC News, Murphy, an ally of President Joe Biden, said that possible legislation includes expanding the federal gun background check system, red flag laws, and laws around storing weapons. “We’re talking about red flag laws. We’re talking about strengthening and expanding the background check system, if not universal background checks. We’re talking about safe storage. And yes, we’re also talking about mental health resources and more security dollars for schools,”...

Five years ago, the Excelsior Scholarship became the first in the nation to cover four years of tuition without being tethered to academic performance. Still, many students who could qualify don't apply. Even though college enrollment has slid since the start of the Covid pandemic, many students still want to get a degree, and for some, free tuition programs are the only way to make higher education a reality. In 2017, the state of New York's Excelsior Scholarship made headlines when it became the first in the nation to cover four years of tuition without being tethered to academic performance....

A scientific analysis commissioned by the FBI shortly before agents went digging for buried treasure suggested a huge quantity of gold could be below the surface, according to newly released government documents and photos that deepen the mystery of the 2018 excavation in remote western Pennsylvania. The report, by a geophysicist who performed microgravity testing at the site, hinted at an underground object with a mass of up to 9 tons and a density consistent with gold. The FBI used the consultant's work to obtain a warrant to seize the gold - if there was any to be found. The...

Rumors have been swirling in recent weeks that Russian President Vladimir Putin is unwell and somehow losing his grip. The strongman and former KGB operative, who is pushing 70, has spent years trying to cultivate a macho image — riding a horse without a shirt on, playing hockey, and showing off his judo moves. Throughout his roughly two decades in power, Putin has been thought of as a calculated, emotionless leader. But the bare-chested equestrian's disposition has seemingly shifted since he launched an unprovoked, full-scale war in Ukraine back in late February. His cheeks are puffy, he's fidgety, and his speeches...

Two more Russian colonels have been killed in Russia’s war in Ukraine - including the country’s 'best paratroop commander'. Lieutenant colonel Alexander Dosyagayev, 34, was a commander of an airborne assault battalion of the 104th paratrooper regiment. Troops from his 104th air assault regiment were reportedly in Bucha, the scene of alleged rape and torture atrocities committed by Vladimir Putin’s forces earlier in the war. His battalion based in Pskov had been recognised as the best in Russia in its extensive combat training and military discipline.

Memorial Day weekend is one where families often travel to meet relatives and friends, or travel to Washington DC to remember those who have died in the service of our country. But traveling has gotten a lot more expensive under Biden. Gasoline prices are up 92.4% under Biden, while food prices are up 60%. Those hamburgers and hot dogs for grilling are being replaced by … pizza? Or maybe plant-based products. Zillow’s Rent Index All Homes YoY was only 0.6234% in February 2021, and has soared to 16.36% YoY under Biden. That is an increase of 14.75x. So, not only...

One of the very first things that social media outlets do following a murder or bombing or mass shooting is to delete the account of the alleged perpetrator. That is a mistake. Salvador Ramos threatened teens on the teen app Yubo. He telegraphed his intentions: Mass murderer Salvador Ramos boasted of buying a gun and said some people “deserved to be raped” on the teen app Yubo, where users nicknamed him “school shooter”– even before Tuesday’s massacre in Uvalde, Texas. It was unclear how long before Ramos slaughtered 21 people, including 19 kids inside Robb Elementary School that he was...

The excuses offered by police in Uvalde to excuse their cowardice only confirm their cowardice. Nineteen armed police stood in an elementary school hallway and did nothing for more than an hour while an armed teenager murdered 19 children pleading for help and the two teachers who perished trying to protect them.

As the war in Ukraine rages, Serbia's president announced that he has secured an "extremely favorable" natural gas deal with Russia during a telephone conversation Sunday with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has refused to explicitly condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Serbia has not joined Western sanctions against Moscow. Vucic, a former pro-Russian ultranationalist, claims that he wants to take Serbia into the European Union but has spent recent years cementing ties with Russia, a long-time ally.“The free leader, free people, make decisions that are good for Serbia and do not accept orders” from the West,...

Russian President Vladimir Putin is inflicting unspeakable suffering on Ukrainians and demanding horrible sacrifices of his own people in an effort to seize a city that does not merit the cost, even for him. The Russian invasion of Ukraine that aimed to seize and occupy the entire country has become a desperate and bloody offensive to capture a single city in the east while defending important but limited gains in the south and east. Ukraine has twice forced Putin to define down his military objectives. Ukraine defeated Russia in the Battle of Kyiv, forcing Putin to reduce his subsequent military...

A group of Iowa students is stepping up to help community members get their yards ready for the summer — and they’re earning physical education credit in the process! High school students at the Alternative Learning Center in Dubuque spent the last two weeks of the school year getting their hands dirty, Tim Hitzler, the social studies teacher who started the program, tells PEOPLE. They’ve signed up to help the elderly and those with disabilities with garden work, cutting down bamboo, and even tending to chicken coops...

Trump-endorsed Nevada U.S. Senate candidate Adam Laxalt (R) is hoping to snag Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto’s (D-NV) seat in November, turn the Silver State red, and have one less Democrat to “rubber stamp” President Joe Biden’s radical agenda. Laxalt, who is the state’s former attorney general, accused his potential Democrat competitor of leaving Nevadans floundering as crime and inflation skyrocket, and as Biden’s non-existent immigration policy allows fentanyl and human trafficking to abound. Speaking to Breitbart News Saturday, Laxalt said Biden was able to take the country “dramatically in the wrong direction” in “a few short weeks” with little pushback...

When Marina's two sons were conscripted last winter to the Russian army she welcomed the idea of her children doing a year's military service. "I told them that they had to serve," Marina tells me, "it was their duty to the motherland." But a few weeks later she began to worry. Her sons had been deployed to an area close to the border with Ukraine. -snip- Marina is angry about what happened. "They lied to my face," she told me. "First they lied that my sons weren't in Ukraine. Then they lied that they'd signed military contracts. Officers lied, sergeants...

The latest supply shortage of baby formula comes months after the Biden administration was warned about it and did nothing until it was a crisis, Blackburn told host John Catsimatidis. "And then, lo and behold, here comes the Biden administration saying, 'Well, now cheer for us because we're going to grant waivers to get this formula in from Europe. Cheer for us. We are going to allow Abbott to open up and go back to producing.' But, by this time, the damage is done." And, the border crisis is just another glaring example of creating a crisis by unwinding the...

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said Sunday that a gun law passed by the Florida legislature following the Parkland school shooting was a “signal of what’s possible” when it comes to legislation that could be passed on the federal level. During an appearance on ABC’s “This Week,” moderator Jonathan Karl ran down the intentions of the bill, which included raising the minimum age in which a person can obtain a firearm to 21 and banned bump stocks, noting that it was passed by a GOP-led legislature and signed by a Republican governor. Karl asked Murphy if Florida’s state gun law could...

Carolina Serrano, a Republican candidate running against Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV) in Nevada’s First Congressional District, declared on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday that Nevada is “not a liberal state” and the incumbent is a vulnerable member who can be unseated. Serrano — who paid her way through college working in the hospitality industry and briefly working on Capitol Hill before leading the Hispanic outreach for former President Donald Trump in Las Vegas — spoke to Breitbart News Saturday about her view on immigration, which she is making a large part of her campaign. Serrano explained that immigration is a “total...
