NPR reporter Nina Totenberg said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that she believed that a conservative law clerk was the likeliest suspect for the leak of Justice Samuel Alito’s draft majority decision overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Totenberg said, “It’s viewed it’s an earthquake, and I think within the court itself it’s an earthquake. There has never been a leak like this. There have been minor, little springs that have emerged from the court, reports of a tentative vote or misbehavior by one justice back in the ’50s, ’60s, ’70s. There were those kinds of leaks but never...

The five year gap in Jimmy Stewart's filmography between 1942 and 1946 was the most vivid and important period in his life, if you believe what the famously reticent and reserved movie star would say later. He spent it in uniform with the U.S. Army Air Force, much of it flying B-24 bombers with the Eighth Air Force over Europe. Interviewed by writer Jonathan Coe for the biography Jimmy Stewart: A Wonderful Life, the actor was asked to compare it to his career as one of the biggest stars in Hollywood for nearly half a century. Was it greater than...

For the past few months, Colorado state Rep. Brianna Titone (D) has kept a close eye on the bills neighboring states have been proposing — bills that aim to curb the rights of transgender children from participating in youth sports, accessing bathrooms and getting gender-affirming health care. There’s Arizona, Oklahoma and Utah, which all passed laws barring trans kids — with a focus on girls, in particular — from playing on teams that align with their gender identity. In Kansas, a similar bill passed the state Senate, but was vetoed by Democratic Gov. Laura Kelly. And in Idaho, lawmakers sought...

The Gift to the Grandparents. When I was carrying our children and felt their life moving within me, my husband told me I had a special glow about me. Later, when holding our babies, as they lay innocent and trusting, smiling as they danced with angels, I thanked God for giving me these wonderful and precious gifts. The Gift to the Grandparents. In the daily acts of loving them, sometimes it was hard. One year, due to our military service, we moved five times; one time I could not afford to buy a new mattress and we had no furniture,...

U.S. intelligence agencies are deeply concerned about a steady flow of leaks pointing to extensive assistance by the United States, helping Ukraine score some of its biggest victories of the war. On Thursday, several news outlets reported on assistance by U.S. intelligence agencies giving the Ukrainian military information on Russian units that have allowed Ukrainians to target and kill many of the Russian generals who have died in the war. Moscow has acknowledged at least 12 general officers were killed — more generals than died in World War II. Then on Friday, some blabbermouth told the Washington Post that the...

Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito is “taking us back to the 1850s” in his draft opinion that shows the court is poised to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. Klobuchar said, “Let’s be clear about what’s going on here. With this leaked opinion, the court is looking at reversing 50 years of women’s rights, and the fall will be swift. Over 20 states have laws in place already. I think the question that voters are going to be asking when 75% of people are with us on this...
