LET’S BUILD INFRASTRUCTURE is preparing to launch formally in Washington, D.C., next week with a six-figure advertising blitz focused on pressing lawmakers to use privatization, rather than taxation, to pay for the infrastructure proposals debated in Congress. The organization touts public-private partnerships and a process known as “asset recycling,” in which the government finances new construction and repairs by selling or leasing roads, bridges, water utilities, parking lots, and other infrastructure assets to private contractors instead of paying for them with public funding. The private operators in turn recoup costs by adding tolls or increasing user fees, such as water...

British Paratroopers have desperately tried to hold the line at Kabul airport amid fears the rescue mission could collapse in days, leaving thousands behind. As dramatic pictures showed the airport being surrounded by scenes of anarchy and anguish, the Paras mounted a frantic last stand to prevent the operation descending into chaos. Women and children were crushed in a stampede as huge crowds tried to escape the Afghan capital and reach the sanctuary of an evacuation flight. US President Joe Biden said it was one of the ‘most difficult’ airlifts in history and admitted he could not guarantee what the...

The Al Qaeda leader made his prediction in a 2010 letter to a key lieutenant. It pains me to point out that, on this issue at least, he’s unfortunately been proved completely right, albeit a few years later than he hoped. In May 2010, the leader of Al-Qaeda, Osama Bin Laden, wrote a remarkable letter to one of his acolytes. In it, he urged his lieutenant to plot to kill President Barack Obama, because a Joe Biden presidency would result in a “crisis”, as the then vice-president was “totally unprepared for that post.” The assassination attempt on Obama’s life was...

President Biden gave remarks at the White House on military efforts to evacuate Americans and Afghans in Afghanistan after the Taliban seized control. After announcing that approximately 18,000 people have been evacuated from Afghanistan since July, including 13,000 people since evacuation operations began on August 14, the president said, “any American who wants to come home, we will get you home.” President Biden went on to say, “this evacuation mission is dangerous,” and that he cannot guarantee the outcome.

(CNN) Tropical Storm Henri will be a hurricane by Saturday and make a rare landfall on New York's Long Island or southern New England by Sunday, according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC). Henri strengthened in recent hours and is almost a hurricane with winds of 70 mph, according to the 5 p.m. Friday update from the NHC. "Although steady to rapid weakening is forecast while Henri moves over cooler waters south of Long Island and New England, it will likely still be at or very near hurricane intensity when it reaches the coast," the center said Friday afternoon. The...

Skip 1. He was not “presidential.” He was considered crude in speech, rough-hewn in manner, and given over to bluster and hyperbole unbefitting the highest office in the land. ... 2. He was an outsider, ... He was never a member of the Beltway club, whether Republicrats or Democrats. ... 3. He was competent and proudly patriotic. He put America first, cutting taxes, renegotiating bad trade deals to the nation’s advantage, ... For the “question of Trump” factors down to the three elements for which he was held accountable—personality, independence, and ability—and, of course, to the unbridgeable rift between the...

Fearing a new refugee crisis, Turkey is reinforcing its border with Iran to stop a potential influx of Afghans fleeing Taliban rule. Some refugees who fled weeks and months ago have already started to show up at the rugged border area. Now, three-metre-high concrete slabs are being installed to stop them. According to Turkish authorities, security forces have prevented the passage of over 69 thousand irregular migrants and arrested 904 suspects accused of being human traffickers. Local media report a 155-kilometre stretch of a planned 241-kilometre wall has already been erected at the border.

Greece said on Friday it had completed a 40-km fence on its border with Turkey (extension to the existing 12.5-kilometre fence) and a new surveillance system was in place to stop possible asylum seekers from trying to reach Europe following the Taliban's takeover of Afghanistan.

Police have identified the suspect accused of making a bomb threat outside of the Library of Congress on Thursday. Authorities said 49-year-old Floyd Roseberry of North Carolina was taken into custody without incident. This comes after officers negotiated with the suspect for hours. The suspect appeared to be holding a detonator in a pickup truck, however, Roseberry eventually surrendered. Police said they are still trying to determine the man’s motives and said he has suffered from severe psychological distress. Meanwhile, authorities said there was no bomb found in Roseberry’s truck, but they did find suspected bomb-making materials.....

Bishop Schneider: Pope Francis 10 Commandments comments contradict Church teaching, akin to teaching of Martin LutherSchneider said that Pope Francis’ statement 'contradicts the teaching of the Church and is very much a kind of sola fide teaching of Martin Luther.'(LifeSiteNews) – Bishop Athanasius Schneider has responded to Pope Francis’ suggestion that the Ten Commandments are not absolute, describing the Pope’s words as contradictory to Scripture and following the teaching of the heresiarch Martin Luther. In exclusive comments to LifeSiteNews, Schneider highlighted two key problems with the Pope’s denial of the binding nature of the Decalogue. We’ve often heard grace defined as the unmerited favor and blessing of God, yet I believe grace is much more than this. In my opinion, grace is everything that Christ is to us in our times of suffering — power, mercy and love — to see us through our afflictions. As I look back over the years of great trials, temptation and affliction, I can testify that God’s grace has been enough. I know what it is to question God because my wife Donna and I have endured many afflictions and affirmatives over and over, and then all of our...

“Abraham raised his eyes and looked, and behold, behind him a ram caught in the thicket by his horns; and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the place of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, ‘In the mount of the Lord it will be provided’” (Genesis 22:13-14). When God provides for a believer, He’s being true to His name. The Old Testament gives God many names, but one of the most lovely is Jehovah-Jireh, translated in...

Policies requiring vaccination against COVID-19 need not include, and should not include, exceptions for those who have religious objections to vaccinations. Many universities, including the University of California, are requiring vaccination for all students, staff and faculty returning to campus. Many employers, public and private, are doing so as well. These policies are essential to protect public health. The virulent Delta variant of the coronavirus has made it imperative to ensure vaccination of as many people as possible. Unfortunately, though, many of these policies have an exception for those who have a religious objection to vaccination. These are neither required...

A man who shot an AK-47 into the air near Temple University’s main campus has been arrested along with two other people, police say. It happened shortly after 3 a.m. at the intersection at Broad and Norris Streets in North Philadelphia on Friday. A surveillance photo sent to Eyewitness News shows a man standing out of a car window with a large gun that appears to be an AK-47 in his hand. The suspect fired an unknown number of shots into the air.

Bank of America, Lowe's, and Truist Financial Corporation sponsored a United Way critical race theory "Racial Equity 21-Day Challenge" claiming that America is systemically and institutionally racist, encouraging participants to "decolonize [their] mind[s]" and to get "woke at work," and urging white people to "cede power to people of color." Christopher Rufo, a senior fellow at the Manhattan Institute, first revealed the critical race theory challenge, presenting documents he obtained from a whistleblower. Rufo reported that Bank of America encouraged North Carolina employees to undertake the "Racial Equity 21-Day Challenge," but support for the critical race theory training extended far...
