The federal government provides tens of millions of dollars each year to a nonprofit group that supports the movement to defund police departments and dismantle the criminal justice system. Officials with the Brooklyn-based Vera Institute of Justice have urged the government to “radically dismantle” police departments in order to fix a system they say dehumanizes people of color. The institute is heavily funded by the federal government. So far this fiscal year, the Department of Justice, Department of Health and Human Services, and other agencies have awarded the Vera Institute more than $89 million in contracts and grants. The organization...

Washington -- We at The American Spectator call it "Kultursmog," and it is the only kind of smog of which our friends on the left approve. Actually, they not only approve of Kultursmog, but they contribute to it. Kultursmog is that aspect of American culture that is utterly politicized, and it is politicized by the politics of the left. Its leading centers of pollution are Hollywood, California; New York City; Washington, D.C., and, increasingly, Silicon Valley. I had hoped that Silicon Valley, with its brave claims to libertarianism, might have escaped the pollutants of Kultursmog, but I was wrong. The...

Blog/Lock Down Posted Jul 28, 2021 by Martin Armstrong Spread the love In Britain, Graham Brady, Chairman of the Tory 1922 Committee and member of Parliament, has written an op-ed for the Daily Mail where he made it very clear that the purpose of the lockdowns is to impose social control — not to reduce COVID. He has pointed out that this is approaching what is known as Stockholm Syndrome, where the greater the control to which people are subjected, the greater the dependence people develop. I have been warning about this because this is the precise talk behind the...

Most Americans were as indifferent to the U.S. women's soccer team's recent loss to Sweden in the Olympics as they were excited about the team's World Cup win in 2019. In between was the team's nonstop politicking, from whining about compensation to virtue-signaling their disrespect for the United States. The celebrity face of the team, perennial scold Megan Rapinoe, is going the way of teenage grouch Greta Thunberg, becoming more pinched the more she is tuned out. Black Lives Matter co-founder Patrisse Marie Khan-Cullors Brignac used her corporate grifting to buy four homes. The one she bought in California's Topanga...

There are twelve total positive cases, manager Dave Martinez told reporters (including Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post). Those are four players (including Turner) and eight staff members. Eleven of the twelve have been vaccinated, according to Martinez. Fortunately, no one involved feels seriously ill, which the skipper attributed to the high vaccination rate among those infected.

Start with: Why do counties in California with low vaccination rates do better than counties with high vaccination rates? Why do the media and the White House always lie and blame low vaccination rates for the increase in cases when counties in California with low vaccination rates are doing better than counties with high vaccination rates? Why do they lie and blame Trump voters for not being vaccinated when there are people of all races and political parties who aren't getting vaccinated? Why are they giving VA workers 8 more weeks to get the vaccine? Why have so many health...

It’s the disappearing act of the year – the story of the illegal alien invasion at the southern border. More than a million people will march into the country with a sense of entitlement, encouraged and embraced by the Biden administration and every Democrat, and it’s like it isn’t happening. But it is happening, and the system is collapsing because of it, which can only be thought of as by design. When you want to destroy something you don’t offer to “fix” it; why would you fix something you’ve denounced as “fundamentally racist?” No, you must destroy it so you...

UPDATE JULY 25, 2021: U.S. admits training Haitian assassins; Madagascar foils assassination attempt against anti-mRNA/anti-viral vector DNA President Andry Rajoelina. See below. LONDON — The British Medical Journal (BMJ Global Health) published a study in April entitled “Why have so many African leaders died of COVID-19?” University of Edinburgh (Scotland) researchers found that 24 national government ministers and heads of state died of COVID-19 between February 6, 2020 and February 6, 2021. This demographic died of COVID-19 at a rate “seven times above estimates of the world’s average for a demographic profile of similar sex and age average for the...

The most hostile work environments I ever experienced were public schools in Washington, D.C. and in Cleveland. I interned in DCPS (District of Columbia Public Schools) and crisscrossed CMSD (Cleveland Municipal School District) as a substitute teacher. On several occasions, a teenager got in my face and “bucked” at me as if he were going to punch me. Many more kids, some as young as seven or eight, cussed me out. I knew better than to take these almost daily attacks personally. Still, no one should have to endure such a hostile work environment. I find Black juvenile delinquency alarming....

Anyone working for Google or Facebook will be mandated to take the COVID vaccine, in a move that will affect tens of thousands of people in more than 40 countries. Google announced the decision along with a delay until October for employees returning to offices. The company said that the policy will initially be put into place at Google’s California headquarters and other U.S. offices, before being imposed on its global locations with the policy being “adjusted” to meet the laws of different countries. “Anyone coming to work on our campuses will need to be vaccinated,” chief executive Sundar Pichai...

The protracted debate over the government’s role in combatting the spread of the COVID virus has become one of the more divisive issues of our time. Those on the right argue that the decision to wear a mask or be vaccinated should be left entirely up to the individual. Those on the left contend that mask mandates and required vaccinations are necessary to combat the spread of the virus regardless of the individual’s personal preferences; the greater good trumps individual freedom. Neither argument is dispositive, at least as a matter of economics. It is instructive to conceive of the spread...

Everything Democrats have touched or done in the past year has been a disaster, and it’s time that everyone recognizes this. Gobsmacking, as defined by a simple internet search: Adjective, British, informal; utterly astonishing; astounding. “The hypocrisy of the man is gobsmacking” It has been, at least for me, a gobsmacking couple of weeks. I have watched while the Democrat Party, its partisans in state-controlled media, and their ever-so-virtue-signaling but absurdly never-self-aware politicians have had just about everything they say and do “boomerang” on them and hit them square in the noggin. I cannot have been the only guy to...

One of the reasons why the federal mandate for vaccinations will fail will be the backlash and refusal compliance by the blue-collar workforce. While the U.S. ideological media will downplay the scale of power within the middle-class and blue-collar workforce, they know the true power exists. The team behind Biden might poke this bear to test a reaction, but they will not dare confront it directly. They know that. WE know that. The 220,000 members of the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) released a statement saying the federal government has no business attempting to force vaccinate the workforce. This union...

This week in history witnessed a small band of Christian knights terrify and brutally defeat a massive horde of Muslims -- at the battle of Jaffa. On July 27, 1192, Saladin, the great hero sultan of Islam, surrounded and besieged the tiny Christian-held town of Jaffa. According to chroniclers, the Muslims numbered around 20,000 and “covered the face of the earth like locusts.” Messengers were instantly dispatched to King Richard I, who was then in Acre, preparing to sail back to England. Before the battered and bruised messengers had finished relaying their message, “With God as my guide,” Richard declared,...

Though the dangers to the world of China becoming a global powerhouse are evident, a few frilly words from China seem to be all that is needed for Western elites to disbelieve their eyes. A December 2020 report by the U.S. Department of the Navy divulged the following on China's methods for projecting its "true maritime power": China's aggressive actions are undermining the international rules-based order, while its growing military capacity and capabilities are eroding U.S. military advantages at an alarming rate. China has implemented a strategy and revisionist approach that aims at the heart of the United States' maritime...

Close to 70% (68.3%) of the adult population in the United States have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. While this progress represents a marked achievement in vaccinations that has led to steep declines in COVID-19 cases and deaths, vaccination coverage—and the protections provided by it—remains uneven across the country… As of July 19, 2021, CDC reported that race/ethnicity was known for 58% of people who had received at least one dose of the vaccine. Among this group, nearly two thirds were White (59%), 9% were Black, 16% were Hispanic, 6% were Asian, 1% were American Indian...

You may have heard of “murder hornets,” or Asian giant hornets, which made international headlines after a small number were spotted in the Pacific Northwest in 2019 and 2020. They are currently confined to the far northwestern corner of Washington State, in part due to a targeted campaign to find them and eradicate their nests. Even so, the discovery of these aggressive, two-inch-long insects known for decimating entire honeybee colonies led to concern throughout the United States, with many people misidentifying local wasps as murder hornets. What many people are actually seeing, according to entomologist Justin Schmidt at the University...

Everybody wrap something around your face again even though they said you wouldn’t need to if you got vaxxed! But they didn’t lie – no, apparently a bunch of people – and not just those evil white nationalist-Christian-gun-Jesus-flag people – are refusing to get the vaccine, and the reason is that they are moral defectives somehow in thrall to Tucker Carlson’s Svengali-like powers of persuasion. You see, the people who won’t get it are stupid people who hate science because they refuse to trust the people who have spent the last year-and-a-half lying to them. I don’t blame those folks...

Don't be silly -- the January 6 Commission has other business to take care of. The January 6 commission held a dramatic first hearing with lots of crocodile tears and a few real ones. As usual, the Democrats, and the two Democrat-friendly Republicans, seemed to agree on an emotional approach to the topic at hand to gain advantage over their political opponents. However, they failed to ask and answer important questions. Also, they based their hearing on a false premise: “the Jan. 6 event was an insurrection.” No, it wasn’t. If the hundreds of thousands of Americans who attended the...
