(CNN) Sen. Joe Manchin, the Democrats' most pivotal swing vote, expressed his most serious concerns yet about a key element in their party's $3.5 trillion sweeping economic plan: Provisions dealing with climate change that have been sought by progressives. Manchin, who hails from coal-producing West Virginia, told CNN that he's "very, very disturbed" by provisions he believes would eliminate fossil fuels -- a warning sign for Democrats who need all 50 members of their caucus to sign off on the plan in order to get it through the Senate. But the climate provisions are key to getting support from liberals,...

Responding to a knock, Cheyenne Harris cracked open the front door of her Fort Davis Park home and peeked outside to find two people in bright green work vests. “Hello, we’re with the Mayor’s Office on covid-19,” they said. “We’re wondering if you and your family have been vaccinated?” ..... Most of the doors Saturday morning were left unanswered. Occasionally, they’d be greeted by a barking dog or an automated voice from a security system. Many of those who did answer said they were already vaccinated. “They ain’t! Go down there,” one woman said, pointing to her neighbors’ house. .

AUSTIN, TX—The media is calling a brave little group of Texas toddlers heroes after they responded to the oppression of being told to eat their vegetables in the most mature, patriotic way imaginable: by chartering a jet to flee the state. The brave little tots chartered their very own Boeing 737 and climbed aboard, taking selfies along the way to keep their social media followers updated on their courageous stand against tyranny. They are flying to Washington, D.C., where they hope to appeal their case to "the pwesident." When asked for comment, the group's leader Timmy said, "Waaaa! I don't...

On this episode of the Resistance Library Podcast, Sam and David discuss the untold story of the Boers and the ANC. South African farm murders have long been a niche cause on the Internet, and the country has made headlines again due to a South African government plan to seize the land of white farmers under the guise of “South African land reform.” News of these farm murders and land seizures have gained steam with the release of Lauren Southern’s documentary Farmlands. And United States President Donald Trump has brought even more attention to the plight of Afrikaners with his...

Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill Wednesday afternoon that prohibits K-12 schools and colleges from requiring the coronavirus vaccine. House Bill 244 started as a bill to help military children transition to school when they move to and from Ohio. Then, in the flurry of the final days of June before lawmakers went on summer recess, the bill was amended to prohibit schools, universities and other public entitles from requiring vaccines that haven’t been fully approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Currently, the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson coronavirus shots are authorized under emergency use. Pfizer filed...

The Biden administration is looking at the possibility of setting up an emergency direct hotline between the US and China, a new report alleges. Citing a US official and another source familiar with early conversations about the device, CNN reported Wednesday that the administration was pursuing an idea similar to that of the “red telephone” set up between the US and the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The Moscow-Washington hotline — as it was also known, as there was never actually a red phone used for the communications — was established in 1963 under President John F. Kennedy. At...

Tuesday’s telecast delivered 8.24 million viewers, about 100,000 more than the 2019 game’s 8.14 million. (Last year’s All-Star Game was canceled due to the pandemic.) It’s also worth noting that the Nielsen figures for Tuesday include out of home viewing and 2019’s do not. Still, the audience for the All-Star Game is in keeping with both improved ratings for baseball this season — including Monday’s Home Run Derby on ESPN — and a general uptick for sports following last year’s pandemic-snarled calendar.

Sen. Lindsey Graham says it would be Biden's "biggest mistake yet," but the U.S. troop departure is long overdue. On July 8, President Joe Biden updated his timeline for the U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. The mission is now set to reach its end on August 31 rather than the original September 11 deadline. Nearly 20 years in the making, America's longest war looks to be finally drawing to a close. For some, it's too soon. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle say so, claiming that the departure is hasty and leaves no clear path forward for the Afghan government....

Should I be charged with a felony, I know that as an American I am presumed innocent. This presumption of innocence means I will remain in possession of my God-given liberty until a jury of my peers finds me guilty, and a judge determines that I shall forfeit an element of my liberty, my freedom to move about in society as I please. In a larger sense encompassing the presumption of innocence, there is the presumption of liberty. Liberty comprises all of the enumerated, unenumerated as well as implied rights and privileges of our Constitution. Until I prove myself unfit...

For the second time in two months, Portland leaders have blocked a request to expand a groundbreaking program designed to reduce interactions between armed police officers and people experiencing homelessness or mental health crises. The 5-month-old program, called Portland Street Response, offers an alternative to dispatching armed officers to certain types of mental health crisis calls. Instead, emergency dispatchers can send a two-member crisis team: one paramedic and one licensed mental health crisis therapist. But the program has limits: Portland Street Response can only respond to calls within the Lents neighborhood, and it can only assist people who are either...

National Nurses United wants the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to tighten its mask recommendations and call for mask-wearing regardless of whether an individual has been vaccinated against COVID-19. "NNU strongly urges the CDC to reinstate universal masking, irrespective of vaccination status, to help reduce the spread of the virus, especially from infected individuals who do not have any symptoms. SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19 disease, spreads easily from person to person via aerosol transmission when an infected person breathes, speaks, coughs, or sneezes. Asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic infected individuals can spread infectious SARS-CoV-2 aerosols during breathing and speaking,...

Morning Joe served up a classic example today of the liberal media's double standard when it comes to covering Republicans versus Democrats. The subject was the fleeing from the Lone Star state of Texas state House Democrats, and Republican efforts to return them to the state to do their legislative duty. Morning Joe painted the Democrats in near-heroic terms. But Jonathan Lemire's take on Republican efforts to haul the deserting Dems back to Austin was altogether more negative. He derided it as: "a political show. It's a way to stir up passions and play to the base."Get the rest of...

The federal government’s count of the COVID-19 death toll in New York has 11,000 more victims than the tally publicized by the administration of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, which has stuck with a far more conservative approach to counting virus deaths. The discrepancy in death counts continued to widen this year, according to an Associated Press review, even as the Democrat has come under fire over allegations that his office purposely obscured the number of deaths of nursing home residents to protect his reputation. New York state’s official death count, presented daily to the public and on the state’s Department of...
