As Catholic Bishops in the United States, we join with the Tyler Clementi Foundation in standing up for at-risk LGBT youth in our country. As we see in the Gospels, Jesus Christ taught love, mercy and welcome for all people, especially for those who felt persecuted or marginalized in any way; and the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches that LGBT people are to be treated with “respect, compassion and sensitivity.” All people of goodwill should help, support, and defend LGBT youth; who attempt suicide at much higher rates than their straight counterparts; who are often homeless because of families...

Our Education Establishment brags about its wonderful doctrines and the many advances seen in our public schools. The real story is quite the opposite, and chronicles a steady and unnecessary decline. Notre Dame Professor Patrick Deneen says that many students at even the best schools are know-nothings and cannot state who won the Civil War. Deneen concludes that such dismal ignorance could not possibly be accidental. Ergo, it's what our schools are designed to do—i.e., stupefy young brains with cultural amnesia. Students emerging from high school, after 12 or 13 years in classrooms, remain shockingly ignorant. That's nearly 10,000 hours...

Making Florida Great Again On June 22, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law three bills to strengthen civics education in the Sunshine State. As De Santis said at the signing ceremony, “The sad reality is that only two in five Americans can correctly name the three branches of government, and more than a third of Americans cannot name any of the rights guaranteed by the First Amendment.” And so, he concluded, “It is abundantly clear that we need to do a much better job of educating our students in civics to prepare them for the rest of their lives.”...

In a statement, he demanded the US to “sever all military ties with Taiwan”. He said: “The complete reunification of China is a historical necessity and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is an unstoppable trend. “The common aspirations of the people are peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. “‘Taiwan independence’ is a dead-end road and seeking it means war.” Mr Ren also demanded Washington abide by its one-China policy and the joint communiques. The warning follows the largest recorded aerial incursion into Taiwan’s airspace on June 15 which saw as many as 28 warplanes breach the sovereign...

Researchers have found evidence that a coronavirus epidemic swept East Asia some 20,000 years ago and was devastating enough to leave an evolutionary imprint on the DNA of people alive today. The new study suggests that an ancient coronavirus plagued the region for many years, researchers say. The finding could have dire implications for the Covid-19 pandemic if it’s not brought under control soon through vaccination. Four other coronaviruses can also infect people, but they usually cause only mild colds. Scientists did not directly observe these coronaviruses becoming human pathogens, so they have relied on indirect clues to estimate when...

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the United States' top infections disease expert, resisted a directive from President Trump to cancel a research grant for a non-profit that was linked to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, according to a new book detailing the Trump administration's handling of COVID-19 pandemic. Trump issued a directive to Fauci and the National Institutes of Health in April 2020 to cut funding for a study examining how coronaviruses jump from infected bats to humans after it was reportedly linked to the lab in Wuhan, suspected of having leaked the virus. The exchange between Fauci and the White House...

New, difficult-to-detect variants of the African swine fever virus circulating in China have spread the disease to pig herds across the country this year, leading to rising incidents of mass infection on farms and stepped-up control measures to stop swine fever’s further spread into livestock supply chains. Since late last year, provinces including Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Jiangsu and Guangdong, as well as the Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, have reported new outbreaks. Farms have reported that infected pigs typically show only mild symptoms in the early stages but have a longer incubation period, making it difficult to diagnose the disease before...

“A Perilous Journey” –Our Solar System Has Completed 20 Orbits of the Milky Way Posted on Jun 26, 2021 in Astronomy, Milky Way Galaxy, Science In 1999 astronomers focusing on a star at the center of the Milky Way, measured precisely how long it takes the sun to complete one orbit (a galactic year) of our home galaxy: 226 million years, bobbing our fraught journey through the disc of the Milky Way, drifting through ghostly spiral arms and the darkness of dense nebulae, keeping a constant 30,000 light years between Earth and the violent galactic core. The last time the...

The most highly cited physician on the early treatment of COVID-19 has come out with an explosive new video that blows the lid off the medical establishment’s complicity in the unnecessary deaths of tens of thousands of Americans.Dr. Peter McCullough said these deaths have been facilitated by a false narrative bent on pushing an all-new, unproven vaccine for a disease that was highly treatable. He said COVID was a bioweapon and the vaccines represent “phase two” of that bioweapon.“As this, in a sense, bioterrorism phase one was rolled out, it was really all about keeping the population in fear and in...

Found the Video! Please someone share this with President Trump and his people. I found the video President Trump has been mocked for even today, in that the Main Stream Media says it doesn't exist. But he was right. He saw it, we all saw it, on September 12, 2021, and then we never saw it again. From: The Video of Revelers Cheering 9/11 That No One Got To See By Harry Litman, New York Post, December 3, 2015 at: https://nypost.com/2015/12/03/the-video-of-revelers-cheering-911-that-no-one-got-to-see/ "If Donald Trump believes he saw videos of revelers celebrating after the Sept. 11 attacks that in fact never...

With New York City’s municipal elections moving into the rearview mirror, the bill for the city has come due, with Gotham taxpayers on the hook for more than $109 million, records from the city Campaign Finance Board show. The nine-figure payout is a result of the city’s incredibly generous system of public matching funds for those who run for mayor, comptroller, public advocate, borough president and City Council. Leading the pack with their hands out were the city’s Democratic mayoral hopefuls, who were offered $8 for every dollar contributed by a donor up to their first $250. That means a...

D.C. attorney H. Heather Shaner says that books and movies about the uglier parts of American history are “a revelation” for some of her Capitol attack clients. Capitol defendant Anna Morgan Lloyd told the judge that she watched "Burning Tulsa" on the History Channel. This week, Morgan-Lloyd will become the first of nearly 500 defendants arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol to face sentencing. She wants a judge to know she’s changed, and her book report-style filings are meant to illustrate that growth. “I’ve lived a sheltered life and truly haven’t experienced life the...

New York's City's Washington Square Park which has been the scene of a number of late night brawls and scuffles with police over last few weeks has now become host to fighting of a different kind - unlicensed boxing matches complete with a referee and time keeper. The Manhattan park appeared more like Madison Square Garden as boxing matches took place in front of hundreds of people, all of which was all caught on camera. At least five matches took place close to the famous arch in Greenwich Village with participants paying five dollars to take part. One fighter ended...

ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before; Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe; Forward into battle see His banners go. Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war, With the cross of Jesus going on before. At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee; On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory. Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise; Brothers lift your voices proud your anthems raise. Like a mighty army moves the church of God; Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod; We...

Food prices are surging in grocery stores and restaurants, hitting small businesses very hard. “They haven’t gone up. They’ve almost doubled,” said Nick Rando, owner of an Italian restaurant in Natick, Massachusetts. Rando said that in January, red meat and steak cost him $7.35 a pound. “Last week, it was $13.20 a pound.” People in Massachusetts have been complaining about the rising costs of other food products like produce, meat and prepared foods. But this phenomenon isn’t just happening in one state. According to the National Bureau of Labor Statistics, the price of cereal and bakery items have risen by...
