Yes, you have to click for each one.
And yes, I'm easily amused.
Are there now only 44 states?
I thought there were 57.
Oklahoma is Love of Loves Travel Stops.
Pretty cool.
Good dog stops.
They skipped North Dakota, probably for lack of billionaires. I suspect they skipped others.

Depends who you ask.
Negative people hate billionaires, but I am inspired by billionaires, especially when I read many of their life stories.
My first billionaire inspiration was George Mitchell, when he was just another $400mm guy in the Fortune 500. He was the son of Armenian immigrants and built a Texas oil empire. I used to work staking his west Texas oil wells. He was a very generous and incredibly creative man. He helped my father start his own business. (I think he liked that my dad was an immigrant who came to America with nothing.) He invented the rotating drill bit that unleashed the fracking revolution. IIRC, he sold the design to Baker Hughes, who improved it and caused it to really take off. He sold his Mitchell Energy company to Devon Energy late in life.
He was known for his philanthropy, gave away many millions. Billionaires are the only people in the world that CAN give away many millions.

That was almost as surprising as the number of women (widows).
They say it is boatloads of old ladies visiting Italy, not many old men?
Wrong kind of dogs.
I question the accuracy of the site:
Iowa | Harry Stine
City: Adel
Net Worth: $5.4 Billion
Rank: 520
Source Of Wealth: Agriculture
The seed billionaire continues to reside in Iowa, where he grew up as the son of a farmer and began helping out with the family business at age 5. He’s given to multiple institutions in his home state, including McPherson College, Drake University and Spurgeon Manor.
Problem is: McPherson College is NOT in Iowa but in McPherson KANSAS.
—”I think he liked that my dad was an immigrant who came to America with nothing”
Reading down the list more than a few came from money, but many did not.
Reminds me of a fun book “The Millionaire Next Door”.
I don’t recall any billionaires in the book, but it would probably scale up?

Owning nearly 15,000 acres of land in Iowa through his private ownership of Stine Seed, Harry Stine is Iowa’s largest land owner.

I love this kind of stuff, too!
Here are all of the Wisconsin billionaires that made the list, in order of net worth:
John Menard Jr., founder of Menards, $14.2 billion
Herbert Kohler Jr. and family, executive chairman of Kohler Company, $9.8 billion
Diane Hendricks, owner of Hendricks Holding Company and ABC Supply Co., $8 billion
Judy Faulkner, founder and CEO of Epic Systems, $6 billion
James Cargill Jr., Cargill Inc., $3.6 billion
S. Curtis Johnson, S.C. Johnson & Sons, $3.6 billion
Helen Johnson-Leipold, chairwoman and CEO of Johnson Outdoors, $3.6 billion
H. Fisk Johnson, chairman and CEO of S.C. Johnson & Sons, $3.5 billion
Lumber yard, plumbing supplies, toilets, bathtubs & sinks, hospital computer systems, food and OTC medicines and personal hygiene items.
Doesn’t get much better than that!
Suppose he was born in KS and now lives in IA.
There were a couple states that didnt have billionaires calling them primary homes.
—”John Menard Jr., founder of Menards, $14.2 billion”
Menards is my go-to hardware store, for many reasons.
Home Depot, used to hire retired tradespeople and pay more, long ago... no more. Now nobody knows about anything.
I needed an oddball combination of adapters to get from an ancient bathroom sink faucet to a garden hose. I think over a million possible combinations?
A young female clerk, mostly covered in tattoos came to my assistance.
She said she knew what I needed and in a few minutes, she found exactly what I needed! Thank you, Mr. Menard and your clerks!!!
I have mixed feelings about George Mitchell. Pro: his rags-to-riches story; his role in the fracking revolution; the fact that I live in the community he planned out in the 70s. Con: the only time I met him, I heard him speak just before Clinton’s inauguration. He went on and on about how great our economy and the oil industry would do when Clinton was in charge! I always thought that was idiotic, but benefit of the doubt, maybe he just hated the Bushes. Also con: when he was drawing up my hometown, he initially wanted not to allow churches but force congregations to share time at community centers. Fortunately he had an adviser who told him no one would move here without churches. (We currently have 75 for 115,000 population.)
**Problem is: McPherson College is NOT in Iowa but in McPherson KANSAS.**
Well, maybe that college identifies as being in Iowa.
(Was at that college for a track meet, spring of 73, and a football game, fall of same year)
Agreed. Proof that some people are a million times more productive than others. Something to aspire to.
“Reminds me of a fun book “The Millionaire Next Door”.
One day a professional friend called me and said, “I’m reading a book about people called The Millionaire Next Door and the people being written about do everything you do.”
I read the book and she was right. So I think it’s a great book, heh!
Interesting input, thanks. One thing I had to get used to, that generation of immigrants were almost all Democrats, including my father. The good news was, they were also capitalists.
