Every piston-powered brag must now come with an asterisk; every Cars and Coffee, a sacrament of denial. While much has been made of the Plaid’s straight-line acceleration—0-60 mph in 1.99 seconds and ¼-mile time of 9.2 seconds, both records for a series-production automobile—not enough has been said about its lateral acceleration, its race car-like roadholding and mechanical grip. Forget planking. Route 299 is the core workout you’ve been looking for. At a 250 kW Supercharger, the Plaid can recharge at a rate equivalent to 1,000 miles of range per hour—or 187 miles gained in 15 minutes. One last, unfathomable number:...

Authorities in Colorado on Friday released chilling excerpts from the twisted writings of the killer of Arvada police Officer Gordon Beesley, who was slain Monday. The remarks were contained in a four-page letter seething with hatred for police officers. The existence of the letter had been confirmed by a source to FOX 31 of Denver earlier in the week but Friday was the first time the station saw the letter."My goal today is to kill Arvada PD officers," shooter Ronald Troyke, 59, wrote, according to the letter.Other comments in the letter were equally frightening."Hundreds of you pigs should be killed...

On March 5, 2021, the Guardian’s editorial team made a scathing attack on Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro in an article titled “The Guardian view on Jair Bolsonaro: a danger to Brazil, and the world.” This is the latest of a string of attacks that the mainstream media (MSM) have carried out on Bolsonaro ever since he became President. The MSM and radical environmentalists have often criticized, and even ostracized him. In the past, many of these criticisms were aimed at his policy decisions on natural resource utilization. The Guardian, in 2021, called Biden’s negotiations with Bolsonaro “Negotiating with your worst...

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on June 25, discussed the countries' joint commitments to Transatlantic security and to the enduring NATO Alliance. This was announced by the press secretary of the US Department of State Ned Price. "Secretary Blinken and President Macron emphasized the shared goals of establishing a stable and predictable relationship with Moscow while addressing Russia’s aggressive and irresponsible behavior, including towards Ukraine," the statement said. Related: US, Germany working on Nord Stream 2 agreement to protect Ukraine from risks, - Blinken In addition, among the topics...

Living in Northern Virginia for years, I have seen firsthand the perils of injecting critical race theory into our schools. A generation of young men and women are being taught that race is the lens through which all other issues are examined, whether history, math or science. In a recent commencement speech, Abrar Omeish, a Fairfax County school board member, articulated this ideology, asserting, "You understand that social justice is only political for those that can afford to ignore it. You understand that 'neutral' is another word for complicit. And you have made a choice to take a stand." This...

The government has handed Elon Musk the keys to the city once again. The Federal Communications Commission recently awarded a nearly $1 billion subsidy to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, and the company is now ready to use it to litter the sky with thousands of the company’s new Starlink satellites. With these new satellites, Starlink hopes to bring internet to thousands of places across the world. But some are concerned that this government subsidy could lead to a slippery slope of a space monopoly. Because of the number of lower-Earth orbit satellites that Musk wants to launch, the sky could quickly...

It is if you’re a general who is more interested in defending leftist shibboleths and trendy racism than in the Constitution. General Barry McCaffrey (retired, thank God), graduated from West Point, served in Vietnam, and put an end to his honorable career by attaching himself to the Clinton White House. Instead of fading decently away as old generals should, McCaffrey continues to insert himself into military politics, always with an eye to tilting the military towards the left. His latest opinion is that Tucker Carlson, a civilian, should be fired for daring to say that General Mark Milley, who is...

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Republican Gov. Mike DeWine has questioned the need for a legislative ban on transgender girls competing in sports. The proposal, titled the Save Women’s Sports Act, would require schools and higher education institutions in the state to designate “separate single-sex teams and sports for each sex.”

The infantilization of black and Hispanic Americans by Democrats has been on overdrive this week as they have tripped over themselves to show how phony their new “anti-racism” act really is. President Joe Biden led the way for his party, using the “Latinx” label to refer to Latinos despite the fact that 76% of them have never heard of the term and 97% of them don’t use it. On top of that, Biden implied that all Latinos in the United States are here illegally. Not to be outdone, conspiracy theorist Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse defended his membership in an allegedly exclusionary...

Just affirm that this is an awful, racist country and that you are the beneficiary of white privilege, and you can escape lengthy imprisonment for “parading” in the Capitol. Anna Morgan-Lloyd, the 49-year-old grandmother from Indiana who strolled into the US Capitol and spent several minutes peacefully walking around, got the same message that was delivered to Chinese dissidents and “bad elements” during Mao’s Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution: confess to thought crimes, embrace the state-sanctioned ideology, and you will be shown mercy. In the case of Morgan-Lloyd, the message was delivered to her by her own defense lawyer, a public...

Progressives love to congratulate themselves on being morally superior. But in fact, the opposite is true. Progressivism is an immoral, destructive ideology, to the extent it can be described as a coherent ideology at all rather than a set of irrational impulses. And its victims are disproportionately women and children. Consider the current craze (and I mean that literally) of “transgenderism,” which I define as the belief that men are better than women at everything, including being women. It’s true that women who believe they’re men are just as delusional as men who believe they’re women. But the former have...

Rank-and-file boosters of communism don't tend to do so well once the Reds have taken over. As the Marxist revolution oozes forward, I occasionally wonder what will happen to the useful idiots when the commies seize absolute power in this once great Republic. I believe that most AT readers are familiar with the term, but for those who need a brief refresher, a useful idiot, as defined by Wikipedia, "is a derogatory term for a person perceived as propagandizing for a cause without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and who is cynically used by the cause's leaders." In my opinion,...

Nothing is more sacred to American progressives as an Absolute Truth than the contention that the 2020 presidential election was totally fair. But the public isn't buying it -- by a wide margin. Nothing is more sacred to American progressives as an Absolute Truth than the contention that the 2020 presidential election was totally fair. Any dissent is labeled as “the Big Lie,” and that it was corrupt makes you “despicable” in the eyes of the Senate Majority Leader. “Fact-checkers” in the agitprop media insist that there is no evidence of significant fraud, and the social media monopolists enforce discipline...

"He has to get a life." I've cleaned up the actual quote for family newspapers. Disdain would be a kind word to describe the feelings people had for a protester who recently live streamed his time outside a Manhattan Planned Parenthood clinic. A few people crashed his video to let his social media followers know what a loser they think he is. The man walking around talking about the murder of the unborn isn't my style out there, but at least he wasn't pretending there was nothing grave happening on that particular block. The voiceless unborn should be prayed for,...

A flight was delayed out the Los Angeles International Airport on Friday evening after a passenger opened a plane door and jumped out while the aircraft was taxiing before takeoff, according to reports. The incident was reportedly being investigated as a hijacking attempt, though no more details on that allegation were immediately available. It also happened on the same day Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly landed at the same airport en route to her home in L.A.'s Brentwood neighborhood after her visit to El Paso, Texas, earlier in the day. The Texas trip was Harris' first visit to the U.S.-Mexico...

Miles Taylor, a man who was most famous when he was anonymous, threw his name last night into a hat most people were hoping wouldn't open until November 2022. "If [former President Donald] Trump somehow wins the GOP nomination in 2024, I will run against him as an independent. And recruit more conservatives to do the same. We will split the vote and sink him," Taylor tweeted, insisting in a follow-up: "This is not a joke."

"Live not by lies" was the challenge issued by Alexander Solzhenitsyn, upon his departure from the Soviet Union, to individuals still condemned to live behind the Iron Curtain — especially to those who were well aware of the suffocating mendacity that permeated communist societies. Rod Dreher's book gives the same advice to Americans today, especially to Christians who are expected to mouth obvious lies or face social ostracism and economic devastation — punishments administered occasionally by leftist judges and government officials but most frequently by tech giants, woke corporations, and P.C. media sycophants. Dreher was inspired to write his book...

For more than three decades, I played organized baseball -- Little League, Pony, Colt, Thoroughbred, high school, college, semi-pro and scouting teams, and then in a fairly competitive Men’s League (pardon the archaic expression). The national pastime was, assuredly, also my personal pastime, my passion, and my pleasure. Setting aside Major League Baseball’s current self-inflicted infirmity, i.e., its flirtation with progressive politics and pop culture, it saddens me to see the game relinquish its traditional identity as America’s Pastime. Open any newspaper or magazine, click on just about any website, watch a movie or TV show that’s been produced within...
