Authorities in Colorado on Friday released chilling excerpts from the twisted writings of the killer of Arvada police Officer Gordon Beesley, who was slain Monday.
The remarks were contained in a four-page letter seething with hatred for police officers. The existence of the letter had been confirmed by a source to FOX 31 of Denver earlier in the week but Friday was the first time the station saw the letter.
"My goal today is to kill Arvada PD officers," shooter Ronald Troyke, 59, wrote, according to the letter.
Other comments in the letter were equally frightening.
"Hundreds of you pigs should be killed daily," he wrote, as well as, "I just hope I don’t die without killing any of you pigs," "Today I will kill as many Arvada officers as I possibly can," "This is what you get, you are the people who are expendable," and "We the people were never your enemy, but we are now."
Arvada police also released a video that shows the suspect get out of his vehicle, armed with a rifle, and shoot Officer Beesley, FOX 31 reported.
"It is clear that the suspect bears responsibility for this tragic sequence of events," the release from the Arvada Police Department says, according to the report.
After Beesley was fatally shot, a citizen later described as a "good Samaritan" arrived at the scene and killed Troyke with a handgun.
But tragically, that gun owner, identified as Johnny Hurley, was fatally shot by a responding police officer who had spotted Hurley holding the dead suspect’s AR-15 rifle, FOX 31 reported.

In every defensive pistol class I teach I drill into the students that when the threat is over either holster your gun or lay it on the ground and get way away from it. When cops arrive hands on top of your head and follow the commands. Arriving police are looking for someone with a gun and don’t have time to try to figure out your intentions no matter how good they may be.
If the police are so dangerous that someone who helps them is themselves in danger then maybe it really is time to rethink why we let such predictably dangerous people run around our streets.
It is not at all acceptable that government terror should be accepted as “normal”.
There just has to be more to this story. Did he aim the rifle at LEO’s? Did he disobey their commands? Obviously, he should not have been “brandishing” the perps rifle, there’s got to be more.
I would even advise against that. As you mentioned, the cops are looking for an individual with a gun — and some can be a bit jumpy, especially with an officer down. For me, it’s gun on the pavement, move away and sit, hands on the head when the authorities arrive, and know that you will spend some time in a jail cell while they sort things out.
Let’s see the dashcam and bodycam video. I suspect that the cop opened fire without even talking to the citizen. Which means the video will likely be accidentally deleted.
This advice was about the same when I took my Peremit class, by retired Police officer. Next was when pulled over put hands on wheel, move slow, tell officer what you are goung to do, be POLITE.
If at home empty the clip or revolver load, different areas, you were scared. You will be sued anyway route you go. Best be sure the home invader can’t testify.
I just had to update my Drivers info to include HARD OF HEARING, Meniere’s 2nd attack. Asked if I wanted the Decal for the car, my reply was we live to close to CRIME RIDDLED MEMPHIS, ONLY A FOOL ANNOUNCES A DISABILITY. Officer running your plate will know. Scared me bad I didn’t hear the Ambulance siren till he was at the drivers window. BIG FAT HUGE FINE FOR NOT GETTING OVER.
I carry my weapon for self-defense.
That is not acceptable. If we’re supposed to accept that police will recklessly and thoughtlessly kill innocent people then we do not need the police. And then to compound this insult to liberty we’re supposed to accept the threat of prosecution for exercising our rights?
That’s not the freedom I’ll be celebrating on July 4th.
I’m of the belief that a holster is the safest place for my carry gun.
Placing it on the ground and stepping away from it after using it against an attacker makes it easy for someone to run by and grab it.
Considering I’d be now unarmed and likely going into shock while puking on my shoes while calling 911, I’d be in no position to prevent the theft.
Certain reduced “hiring standards” have greatly diminished the stellar reputation of several professions. It’s time we got back to the best applicant for the job, not the current fake qualifications.
No, given the trigger-happy and below-average intelligence of the cops these days, better to keep you pistol holstered and let the cops take their chances with the crazies.
With minimal information, I applaud Mr. Hurley for eliminating the threat. That being said, he should not have touched the suspects weapon any more than necessary to get it away from the suspect, as it is evidence.
And perhaps someone needs to remind the police that they are in the business of apprehending suspects, not acting as avengers.
Where is the picture of the perp??? No where to be found that’s where.
No. When he got out of the vehicle, he was armed with a shotgun. He shot Beesley with a shotgun, then went back to his vehicle and got the AR15.
There was reason to insure that Beesley was disarmed. There was an incident in 2005 where an armed Samaritan used his .45 pistol to shoot and knock down an active murderer. The armed Samaritan then ducked behind cover. The murderer recovered from being knocked down (he was wearing body armor), recovered his rifle and killed the armed Samaritan, Mark Alan Wilson.
This account at wikipedia tells the story a bit differently, perhaps more details have been revealed.
If that is what really happened. I think we have all learned not to take government statements at face value.
I can’t wait for you to talk about this with Bill on LockNLoad Radio.
How would the police have known Mr. Hurley wasn’t the perp?. You got 2 down, and a man standing there with an ar15...as far as they can see...Mr. Hurley might have been the killer.
Fog of war casualty. Sad indeed. All the way around.

“How would the police have known Mr. Hurley wasn’t the perp?.”
Confront him and ask?
The job of the police is to apprehend criminal suspects for processing by the justice system. Not to act as mindless avengers.
Now, that being said, I don’t know that Mr. Hurley didn’t do something ill-advised or suspicious, nor what the second officer did.
