With race the topic du jour, it is odd that more attention isn’t being paid to the most obvious discrimination in our society: that against Asians. While employers commonly engage in such discrimination, the most viciously discriminatory organizations in our society are universities. Thus, Senate Republicans offered an amendment to the new “COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act” that would have ended federal funding of universities that discriminate against Asian American applicants. The amendment, sponsored by Ted Cruz and John Kennedy, was narrowly defeated by Senate Democrats. Aaron Ginn comments:

President Biden is expected to announce a proposal to nearly double the capital gains tax rate in order to help fund a forthcoming spending package, according to multiple reports. The proposal would set the capital gains tax rate for individuals earning over $1 million at 39.6 percent, two people familiar with the plan told Bloomberg. When combined with an existing federal surtax on investment income, investors could pay federal taxes at a rate of as high as 43.4 percent. In states with high taxes, rates for wealthy individuals could be even higher. New Yorkers making over $1 million would see combined federal...

While the George Floyd murder trial ended in a guilty verdict for Officer Derek Chauvin this week, the firefighters of ABC’s Station 19 just found out about Floyd's death in the April 22 episode, "Get Up, Stand Up." A grief counselor was brought to the fire station to give professional counseling and preach critical race theory to the firefighters. Dr. Diane Lewis (Tracie Thoms), a former firefighter, now a therapist, was called in by Captain Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre). Maya, a white woman, thought it was something she could do to help her crew cope with their shock and anger...

Debate has emerged in France due to news about the diocese of Tours helping fund a new Muslim worship center. According to La Nouvelle République, Salah Merabti, president of the Muslim community of Indre-et-Loire —which is about 150 miles southwest of Paris — recently thanked the local Catholic diocese for its contribution to the mosque, which is just a part of a brand new community center. He told the paper that his co-religionists received 150,000 euros from Coca-Cola Algeria, as well as funding from local elected officials, the Jewish community and the Catholic diocese. "This is comforting," he said. In...

Yesterday, I wrote about a major M7.2 earthquake off Colombia, first reported by all networks around the world before being deleted… I started searching and found a new scientific study published on April 19, 2021 that actually reports about a shallow and fully locked part on the Caribbean subduction zone in Colombia capable of creating destructive earthquake and tsunami in the northwest region, off Cartagena. Yesterday’s M7.2 ‘ghost’ earthquake happened exactly in the region where scientists predicted in the science paper. This may be one of the reason why the powerful earthquake was deliberately hidden from the public. What do...

Since the beginning of his pontificate, Pope Francis has gone out of his way to push the concept of “discernment” – a much-beloved process in Jesuit spirituality – as key to the spiritual life, yet according to one expert, while the term is used often, not many people actually know what this means. “For me to discern means to decide in the sense of taking on one’s own responsibility, that which we cannot or should not leave to others,” Jesuit Father Miguel Yañez told Crux. “In life, we are continually discerning, perhaps without realizing that we are ‘making a discernment,’”...

One of the first things that Joe Biden did upon taking office was to begin firing people at the National Labor Relations Board, an unprecedented move designed to tilt the board in favor of union advocates that support Democratic campaigns. That investment is already paying off for liberals who oppose right-to-work laws. At a food processing plant in Delaware, workers voted overwhelmingly to reject the leadership of the local chapter of the United Food and Commercial Workers union (UFCW). When the vote was challenged by the union, a regional NLRB director ruled in favor of the workers’ right to reject...

Secretary of State Antony Blinken will allow U.S. diplomatic outposts to fly the Pride flag alongside the U.S. flag, in a reversal from the State Department under his predecessor, Mike Pompeo. Blinken, in a confidential cable obtained by Foreign Policy, gave the authorization to fly the Pride flag ahead of May 17, which is the international day against homophobia, transphobia, and biphobia, and before Pride month begins in June. However, this authorization does include a caveat saying that the heads of a mission or embassy can choose whether or not to fly the flag based on if it’s "appropriate in...

The New York Times economist Paul Krugman misrepresented a document by the United Mine Workers of America (UMWA) to claim that the union endorsed President Joe Biden’s anti-coal, eco-extremist agenda. Krugman’s latest op-ed cited only a portion of a line from a newly released UMWA document — "a true energy transition that will enhance opportunities for miners, their families and their communities.” He twisted the context of the quote to claim that it was "in effect an endorsement, at least in principle” of Biden’s “Green New Deal” variant called “Build Back Better.” Krugman pivoted off his mischaracterization to claim that...

As the covid-19 scandal continues, authorities are increasingly using censorship and intimidation tactics to control the narrative and shut down the truth. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is taking censorship to a whole new level and is targeting anyone who promotes a healthy immune system to combat SARS-CoV-2. The FTC recently charged a St. Louis man for making fraudulent claims about covid-19. The FTC is charging Eric Nepute and Quickwork LLC in a federal court for the heinous crime of advertising zinc and vitamin D to combat covid-19. Nepute is charged with ten counts of violating the Covid-19 Consumer Protection...

The MTA on Thursday abruptly halted a program to test new security cameras on subway cars — a day after the Daily News raised questions about the ties the company providing the technology has to a Chinese firm that specializes in facial recognition technology. Transit managers last week sent a memo to subway crews alerting them of new video cameras installed on a four-car G line train. The new tech is part of a years-long effort by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority to improve security and put more eyes underground. The test program installed four cameras in each of the cars,...

The virus is a dreadful enemy and by all accounts most countries were unprepared to deal with it. But as we...learn to deal with the virus, curiously several scientists have begun pointing out that estimates of COVID-19 deaths in countries such as the USA and Italy are possible ‘overestimates’. Nina Schwalbe, Principal Visiting Fellow at the United Nations University’s International Institute for Global Health... argued that while calculating fatality percentage or rate, the denominator in the form of number of infections is underestimated, hence the fatality rate appears to be much higher than what it actually is. What is more,...

A group of Senate Republicans and Democrats met privately this week to discuss striking a deal on immigration – mainly on providing amnesty to potentially millions of illegal aliens enrolled and eligible for former President Obama’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) led a meeting with 12 other Senate Republicans and Democrats to explore the possibility of passing an amnesty to give legal status to 3.5 million enrolled and eligible DACA illegal aliens. Other Senators in attendance included Chris Coons (D-DE), Susan Collins (R-ME), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Patrick...

A suspect in the weekend murder of a 7-year-old girl at a West Side McDonald’s was chased by police on the Eisenhower Expressway Thursday afternoon and shot while he allegedly tried to carjack someone, police said. Police shot the man multiple times after he crashed a vehicle and then tried to carjack a family on inbound I-290 near Mannheim Road, Police Supt. David Brown told reporters. Brown said the man was wanted in the murder of Jaslyn Adams, who was shot Sunday afternoon inside a car with her father in Homan Square. Shortly after 4 p.m., Chicago police officers performing...

The coronavirus pandemic has given scammers plenty of new opportunities to separate people from their money and personal information. The latest could keep people from getting properly vaccinated: Pfizer says it has identified fake COVID-19 shots in both Poland and Mexico. The Wall Street Journal reports that about 80 people were administered the fraudulent vaccine in Mexico, with doses being sold for about $1,000 each. The fake vaccine found in Poland hadn't yet been used before it was distributed. Fortunately, those who received the counterfeit vaccinations seem to be unharmed. Pfizer confirmed the report, tell CNET that finding the counterfeit...

As major hospitals in New Delhi pleaded for more supplies to save COVID-19 patients who were unable to breathe on social media on Friday, India put oxygen tankers on special express trains. An oxygen-fed fire tore through a coronavirus ward in a populated western province, killing more than a dozen people. The world's worst coronavirus surge is wearing down India's underfunded health sector, which set a global high of daily infections for the second day in a row with 332,730. In a nation of nearly 1.4 billion inhabitants, India has confirmed 16 million cases, second only to the United States. In...

Statehood proposals for the District of Columbia have been around for years. Today, however, we have a President pledged to support D.C. statehood. Congress is controlled by the Democrats, whose platform supports statehood. Eleanor Holmes Norton, the so-called non-voting delegate to the House of Representatives from D.C., has introduced a statehood proposal in the current session of Congress.1 Jesse Jackson, the "Shadow Senator” from the District, was recently arrested while leading a group of pro-statehood protesters blocking an intersection near the Capitol.2 And readers of The Washington Post received an Independence Day issue of the Post's Sunday magazine devoted to...
