WASHINGTON, D.C.—Democrats have proposed a controversial new law that would require vaccine passports for voting. The bill currently under deliberation in Congress would ban all forms of ID for voting -- because that's racist -- but require voters to show their COVID-19 vaccine passport at polling places. Republicans and Democrats alike were confused by the proposal, not sure if they agreed with it or not. "I like requiring people to show documentation to vote, but not like this, I don't think," said one Republican man in Georgia. "I'll have to think about it." "No one should have to show documentation...

Another week, another psychotic shooting spree, this time in Orange, Calif., where among the four killed last Wednesday was a 9-year-old boy. It was sobering to learn that this murdered child, with whom I share a first name, died at the same age I was when the Columbine shooting happened in 1999. Predictably, the killer used a semi-automatic handgun, a type of weapon the vast majority of civilians don’t need and which is far too easy to obtain in this country. Yet even the most moderate and sensible calls for restrictions on firearm ownership continue to be met with the...

Hundreds of male inmates in California who identify as female have requested to be transferred to a women’s prison since a new law went into effect on the first of the year allowing them to make that choice. Last fall, California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed legislation that allows incarcerated “transgender, non-binary and intersex people” to choose if they want to be housed in a male or female prison, according to the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Since the bill took effect on Jan. 1, there have been 261 requests for transfers, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday. All but...

(...) SUMMARY A method of utilizing vitamin C in amounts just short of the doses which produce diarrhea is described (TITRATING TO BOWEL TOLERANCE). The amount of oral ascorbic acid tolerated by a patient without producing diarrhea increases somewhat proportionately to the stress or toxicity of his disease. Bowel tolerance doses of ascorbic acid ameliorate the acute symptoms of many diseases. Lesser doses often have little effect on acute symptoms but assist the body in handling the stress of disease and may reduce the morbidity of the disease. However, if doses of ascorbate are not provided to satisfy this potential...

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a bill into law on Tuesday that repeals legal immunity that the state had granted to nursing homes during the pandemic. Effective immediately, nursing homes and other healthcare facilities can be held civilly and criminally liable for treatment of individuals with COVID-19 after the bill was sponsored and championed by critics including state senator Alessandra Biaggi. Cuomo himself has faced calls to resign amid probes into whether the state mishandled nursing home deaths related to the pandemic and accusations that the state miscounted hundreds of nursing home deaths as hospital deaths.

Tucker Carlson ripped into Arkansas Gov Asa Hutchinson over his decision to veto a bill that would ban gender confirming treatments and surgery for transgender youth, accusing him of supporting the 'chemical castration' of children. Carlson and Hutchinson engaged in a heated debate on Fox News on Tuesday night after Arkansas' Republican legislature voted to override the governor's veto and move forward with enacting the bill. The interview was rocky out of the gate as Hutchinson, a Republican, immediately took issue with Carlson's description of the bill.

Amazon has become the first company to endorse Joe Biden's corporate tax hike to pay for its $2 trillion infrastructure plan - despite the online giant being one of the savviest tax strategists in the world. Jeff Bezos, CEO and founder of the company, and the world's richest man, said in a statement on Tuesday that Biden's plan 'will require concessions from all sides'. He spoke on the day Forbes, for the fourth year running, crowned him the world's richest. Despite his company's own highly-controversial tax schemes, Bezos said Amazon was 'supportive of a rise in the corporate tax rate,'...

Republicans on the House Committee on Homeland Security have slammed Customs and Border Protection (CBP) after the agency deleted a press release that detailed the arrest of two Yemeni illegal immigrants who were identified on a terrorism watch list. On Monday, CBP announced how two Yemeni nationals who were placed on the FBI's terror watchlist were arrested in California after crossing illegally from Mexico into the United States. But the announcement was deleted from the CBP website and Twitter account on Tuesday, on the grounds of 'national security'.

Rep Matt Gaetz allegedly asked President Donald Trump for pre-emptive pardons for himself and his congressional allies for any crimes they may have committed months before he was revealed to be under federal investigation for sex trafficking. Two sources with knowledge of the situation told the New York Times that Gaetz, one of Trump's fiercest defenders, approached the president with the extraordinary request in his final weeks in office. It came as investigators with the Department of Justice began questioning Gaetz' associates about allegations against him, including that he'd had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl, according to the...

The most harrowing story I’ve read in The Times in recent days was Miriam Jordan’s account of a car crash last month in Southern California involving a Ford Expedition that had come from Mexico, straight through a breach in the border wall. The Ford was crammed with 25 people when it hit a tractor-trailer rig on Route 115, 110 miles east of San Diego. “Few of the survivors have been able to describe what happened next,” Jordan writes. “The crunch of metal and glass, the bodies flung dozens of feet across the pavement. Twelve people died on the spot, a...
