Democrats are using the mass shooting in Colorado on Monday to renew their push to eliminate the filibuster and pass new gun control legislation. Prominent Democrats said the Senate must eliminate the filibuster in order to push through new gun control laws in response to the killings. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), Rep. Jason Crow (Colo.), Rep. David Cicilline (R.I.), Pennsylvania lieutenant governor candidate John Fetterman, and Pennsylvania Senate candidate Malcolm Kenyatta all called for the filibuster to end in the wake of Monday's attack. "Things won't get better until Democrats get rid of the filibuster and finally pass gun safety...

Bandy Lee, the psychiatrist who repeatedly diagnosed Trump as mentally unfit and dangerous, without ever even having met him, has apparently been fired by Yale University. What a shame. At one point, Lee’s frequent long-distance diagnoses extended to Professor Alan Dershowitz. He wrote a strongly worded letter to Yale, which apparently played a role. This all began unfolding last spring, but we’re just finding out now. Yale Daily News reports: Former professor says Yale fired her over tweet on Trump, Dershowitz... Bandy Lee MED ’94 DIV ’95, a formerly Yale-affiliated faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry in School of...

ANN ARBOR, MI—According to sources, some residents of a local upper-class suburb have accumulated "Black Lives Matter", "Hispanic Lives Matter", and "Asian Lives Matter" signs in their perfectly manicured front yards. Experts warn, however, that with the addition of more people groups every day, they are getting dangerously close to saying "All Lives Matter." "We need to guard against this," said local sociology professor Dr. Cam Duncatilly as she added a "Trans Lives Matter" and "Indigenous Lives Matter" sign in her front yard. "We have to make sure that as we add more minorities, we stop short of the damnable...

The documents in these images were found in trash receptacles outside of Dekalb County election facilities after the inauguration of Joe Biden on Jan 20th of this year. Dekalb County, GA is breaking the law as the possibility of audits and inspection of ballots from the Nov 3rd U.S. general election and the Jan 5th Senate runoff in Georgia become more likely. Multiple legal challenges are working their way through the courts to the massive election fraud executed in the Peach State last election cycle. Today a Gwinnett County court looks to be forcing ballot images to be presented in...

On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in a case about whether law enforcement officers can enter people’s home and confiscate guns without a warrant, Forbes reported. This comes in the wake of two mass shootings in the past eight days that have renewed the gun control debate, which has been relatively dormant throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Caniglia v. Strom, Forbes senior contributor Nick Sibilla wrote, is a case that could have wide-ranging consequences for policing, due process, mental health, as well as the Fourth Amendment. Notably, as part of the case, the Biden administration and attorneys...

President Joe Biden on Wednesday said the current surge of illegal immigrants at the U.S.-Mexico border started under the Trump administration. “This new surge we are dealing with now started with the last administration, but it’s our responsibility to deal with it humanely,” Biden said as he met with Vice President Kamala Harris, chief of staff Ron Klain, and other advisers in the White House. He did not elaborate. “There was a serious spike in people heading to the southern border even in the midst of that [the Trump administration]. That was because there were serious natural disasters” in Latin...

On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate confirmed President Joe Biden’s nominee for Assistant Secretary at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the openly transgender Pennsylvania Health Secretary Rachel Levine. Levine directed nursing homes to admit COVID-19-positive patients. Levine has also openly supported experimental transgender drugs for gender-confused children. The Senate confirmed Levine, 52 to 48. Every single Democrat voted for the transgender nominee, while every Republican except Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) voted against him. LGBT activists celebrated Levine’s confirmation. “At a time when hateful politicians are weaponizing trans lives for their own perceived political gain,...

Does anyone else find it odd that so many Asian activists reacted to the mass murder of (mostly) Asian women last week by talking about how smoking hot they are? I was at law school when I first noticed the phenomenon of liberal women pretending to be outraged as a cover for bragging. Average-to-ugly girls would work up feigned indignation about how a guy had “sexually harassed” them that day, then launch into a 20-minute retelling of some compliment they’d received. A man talked to me! I think he likes me … Let’s see, how do I work this into...

Former President Barack Obama and legendary musician Bruce Springsteen discussed toxic male behaviors, the definition of masculinity in America and struggles with their fathers in the latest episode of their “Renegades: Born in the USA” podcast, released on Monday. In a monologue opening the episode, Obama argued that, unfortunately, society’s definition of masculinity has not substantially changed since the days when he and Springsteen were children and many of these “narrow distorted ideas ... contributed to so many of the damaging trends we continue to see in the country, whether it is the growing inequality in our economy or our...

Lai, who is Chinese American, asked the man and his companion, a white woman, to wear masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.(snip) Lai told the Miami New Times. “My dad is 76, and I can’t afford to bring COVID home.” However, the pair of commuters still refused to cover their faces. New Jersey officials on Wednesday said they’re following social media posts promoting a protest calling for people to go shopping at Freehold Raceway Mall on Saturday without face masks more than a year into restrictions to battle the coronavirus pandemic. “Not only we are aware of this ridiculous flyer that’s gone around about maskless shopping, but I am personally aware of it and extremely unhappy about it,” Gov. Phil Murphy said during his latest COVID-19 briefing in Trenton. The origin of the “maskless shopping” protest is unclear, but officials said they were aware of the event being organized by the...

According to reports in The Astronomer's Telegram, a star in the region of the constellation of Cassiopeia has just gone nova, and the glow is still visible in the night sky. If you live in the Northern Hemisphere and have even a basic telescope, you might want to head out and point it in that direction. The first detection was made on 18 March 2021 by amateur astronomer Yuji Nakamura from the Mie Prefecture in Japan. In four frames captured using a 135-millimeter lens and a 15-second exposure, a bright, magnitude 9.6 glow was visible where none had been just...

Heretic ClericsA rejection of Catholic Church teachingPrelates and priests alike are skirting around Catholic Church doctrine to avoid being declared proper heretics. Bishops like Cdl. Joseph Tobin of Newark, Cdl. Blase Cupich of Chicago and the German Bishops' Conference throw away Catholic teaching on sexual morality.Bp. St. Nicholas allegedly struck Arius It is why they so outwardly oppose the Vatican's recent statement denouncing the blessing of homosexual unions. These improper heretics, for lack of a better term, are just as dangerous as the proper ones. They are perhaps even more dangerous. The Church, luckily, has millennia of experience in dealing...

WASHINGTON (DTN) -- Crude and refined products futures on the New York Mercantile Exchange and Brent crude on the Intercontinental Exchange reversed higher in early trade Wednesday, with the international benchmark trading as much as 2% higher amid reports a massive Evergreen container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal, choking off passage through one of the world's busiest arteries for oil transit. The 200,000-tonne vessel en route from the Red Sea to the Mediterranean suffered an extensive blackout early Wednesday, causing the ship to turn sideways in the middle of the critical corridor for global oil trade, blocking both...

The team’s research was published today in the journal Science Robotics. It comes on the heels of previous research by members of the same team, which saw liquid-coated nanorobots remotely propelled through the jelly-like fluid of the eye. [R]esearchers use a rotating magnetic field to pull them around remotely. On microscales—we’re talking incremental movements about 1% the width of a hair—the researchers were able to make the hybrid bio-bots wend paths like in the video game Snake. They’re dubbed “neutrobots” because they infiltrate the brain in the casing of neutrophils, a type of white blood cell. It ultimately took Wu’s...

TRANSCRIPTBill Dempsey: "The issue here, of course, is one of scandal." Bill Dempsey, chairman of Sycamore Trust, is rallying University of Notre Dame alumni to oppose inviting unelected Joe Biden to be this year's commencement speaker. Dempsey: "It's an action by the country's most prominent Catholic university in honoring the most, I think, the most formidable adversary that the Church has at the present time on issues of abortion and of marriage and of sex and of gender." Sycamore Trust sprung into action when Notre Dame president Rev. John Jenkins revealed in an interview with Crux magazine that the university...

Galveston – It is considered one of the more interesting proposals in the push to get people shots of the COVID-19 vaccine. Galveston’s top doctor wants to give priority boarding on the Galveston-Bolivar ferry to people who have received the COVID-19 vaccine. “We’ll work out a deal with the ferry so that people (who) get vaccinated, get on the ferry first,” said Dr. Philip Keise with the Galveston County Health Authority. Keiser is floating the idea and says they need creative ways like this one to get as many people vaccinated as quickly as possible. Kathy Comeaux of Bolivar said...

Pope Francis and Cardinal Kurt Koch hope that there will be full communion and "visible unity" between the Roman Catholic Church and the Phanar. On March 12, 2021, Pope Francis sent a congratulatory message to the new Metropolitan of Italy of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, Exarch Polycarp (Stavropoulos) of Southern Europe, in which he expressed the hope that the RCC and Phanar would enter into "complete visible unity", the official website of the Vatican reports. The Pope believes that Catholics and Orthodox will be able to transform, "with God's help, the communion already uniting us into a complete visible unity."...
