I watched the Super Bowl yesterday. I don’t follow pro-sports. Heck, I didn’t know who was playing until Saturday, but my son plays high school football so it was fun to watch it with him. (the boy is nearly Gronk sized) I rooted for the team with all the old dudes, and as an added bonus I found out afterwards that Brady is a Trumpkin, so him winning caused a great deal of wailing and gnashing of teeth among certain circles of super obnoxious dorks on Twitter. So double victory. But the highlight of the whole evening for me was...

Editor's Note: This is Part Two in a two-part series. You can read Part One here.In my previous article, I laid out the general case for why conservatives need to take action to ensure the taking back of the House and Senate in 2022 and electing a Republican president in 2024.In this part, I lay out a few specific actions that each of us can take to make a difference for the Republican Party during the next two to four years. Here are those recommendations.1. Do not give up. Ever. Opportunities will present themselves. We have to be ready to take...

The Senate has overwhelmingly voted to confirm President Joe Biden’s pick to oversee the Department of Veterans Affairs. The Senate confirmed Denis McDonough as VA secretary by a vote of 87-7 on Monday. McDonough was President Barack Obama’s chief of staff. McDonough will oversee a sprawling agency that has presented organizational challenges for both parties over the years. But he never served in the armed forces, a fact noted by leading veterans advocacy groups. McDonough touted his experience working in the Obama administration, telling lawmakers he understood how to untangle and solve complex challenges across the government. He said his...

It may have been set in a galaxy far, far away but the Star Wars films feature some rather familiar looking firearms. Then again, the saga isn’t exactly what one could call “original” – it borrowed heavily from American westerns, World War II films, movie serials notably Flash Gordon, and the original film’s plot is borrowed so heavily from The Hidden Fortress that writer/director George Lucas should have paid royalties to Japanese director Akira Kurosawa.

Biden Team Revamps Weekly Address (Now With Soft Piano, Tight Editing). Following in former president Trump’s footsteps, Biden has given the traditional weekly address a revamp. In their first “Weekly Conversation,” the Biden team opted for a tightly-edited, piano-backed montage depicting a reconstructed phone call between Biden and an ordinary American mom, “Michele from California,” who was laid off because of the pandemic and had written to the president. It might even be impressive if it wasn’t so obvious Joe is reading from a script in front of him: On the call, Biden pitches his “American Rescue Plan” legislation to...

MSN, CNN and other liberal media outlets refer to the "kickoff" of the circus impeachment trial. Starting Tuesday at 12 pm ET, four hours equally divided between the Impeachment Managers and Trump’s lawyers to present arguments on the constitutionality of the trial. After the arguments, the Senate will vote on whether the Senate trial is proper, with a 51-vote threshold. Wednesday, February 10 both sides begin 16 hours each to present their case. Each side must use their time over no more than two days and each day’s presentation will not exceed eight hours. Next, both sides will get a...

If you think state and federal government COVID-19 policies are too restrictive, you haven’t been to a college campus lately. Schools across the country have imposed extreme, micromanaging rules on 19-22 year olds—a demographic more likely to die from the seasonal flu and pneumonia than COVID.Paying top dollar at already overpriced institutions for vastly inferior remote learning, university students remain unnecessarily isolated and barred from using the services and facilities they and their families are paying for. Many schools, like Southern Methodist University, forbid students from having guests in their dorm rooms. Others have even installed security cameras in the...

One of the most difficult things for a conservative to write about is McCarthyism. Oh, I don’t mean “difficult” in the Oprah Book Club sense of difficult. It’s not painful, or heart-wrenching, or cathartic. I mean it is technically challenging to write about it with clarity and precision. The problem is simple: McCarthyism has come to mean anything liberals or leftists consider to be unfair, unjust, un-nice. It’s simply another example of the general phenomenon described by George Orwell when he wrote in “Politics and the English Language” that “The word Fascism has now no meaning except in so far...

State Senator's Measure Would Violate Federal LawBy Greg Burt/CFCSacramento, Calif. -- In defiance of federal law, California currently requires all private health insurance plans to include coverage for abortion. Last December, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) said it would withhold $200 million from California unless the state changed course. Unconcerned about the threat, State Senator Lena Gonzales (D-Los Angeles) wants to push the state’s noncompliance further with the introduction of SB-245, a bill to force all private insurance policies to pay for abortions free of charge, no co-pays, no deductibles. “Everyone should have the right to...

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer’s PRO Act is a case study in unintended consequences. With control of Congress and the White House, Democrats are making labor policy one of their first priorities. Ironically enough, that’s actually bad news for independent contractors and gig economy workers across the country. The legislation at the core of their agenda is the PRO Act, which Democrats just re-introduced with sponsors including Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority leader Chuck Schumer. Among many other things, the bill would severely restrict the legal definition of independent contractors in a way that would largely...

On Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki dismissed a reporter’s question on where the American workers who lost their jobs due to Joe Biden’s executive order shutting down the Keystone XL pipeline would get the promised “green jobs” by giving a snarky response as callous and out of touch as anything uttered by Marie Antoinette. “Well, I’d certainly welcome you to present your data of all the thousands and thousands of people who won’t be getting a green job,” Psaki answered. “Maybe next time you’re here you can present that.“In Psaki’s world, government officials are not to be questioned...

Almost exactly one year ago, The Washington Post loudly ridiculed U.S. Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) in a news story — not an opinion piece — about the origins of the coronavirus pandemic. The Post‘s headline: “Tom Cotton keeps repeating a coronavirus conspiracy theory that was already debunked.”Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) repeated a fringe theory suggesting that the ongoing spread of a coronavirus is connected to research in the disease-ravaged epicenter of Wuhan, China. The Post‘s story on February 17, 2020, came in response to Cotton’s interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo the day before. In the interview, Cotton stated the coronavirus...

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — With guns drawn in the middle of a cold winter’s night, home security video captures armed bounty hunters with their fingers on the trigger, pointing a gun at Seneca Babcock resident Jake Reinhardt on his property on Oakdale Place. “Up until that point I thought there was a mistaken address,” he said.” Barefoot and barely clothed, Reinhardt says he was ordered to leave his home. “Unite the country” may be the three scariest words coming out of D.C. right now. Conform or be crushed is what they mean. Thankfully, Second Amendment sanctuary state efforts are drawing bold lines against federal encroachment.Missouri is close to nullifying federal gun control within its borders. On Tuesday, the Missouri House overwhelmingly passed the “Second Amendment Preservation Act,” which prohibits public officers, state employees, and political subdivisions from enforcing federal acts, laws, executive orders, court orders, and other edicts that transgress the right to bear arms. The Tenth Amendment Center, the premier think tank for nullification advocacy, calls this legislation “a...

Salvatore Anello, the man who pleaded guilty last year in connection with his 1-year-old granddaughter's fatal fall from a cruise ship, has been sentenced to three years of probation, Puerto Rican authorities announced Monday. Anello was charged with negligent homicide in the death of Chloe Wiegand, who fell more than 100 feet from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship window in July 2019. Wiegand fell from the docked ship after Anello held her up against what he said he believed was a set of closed windows and she slipped from his hands. Surveillance video obtained by CBS News showed the moments...
