It may have been set in a galaxy far, far away but the Star Wars films feature some rather familiar looking firearms.
Then again, the saga isn’t exactly what one could call “original” – it borrowed heavily from American westerns, World War II films, movie serials notably Flash Gordon, and the original film’s plot is borrowed so heavily from The Hidden Fortress that writer/director George Lucas should have paid royalties to Japanese director Akira Kurosawa.

Yeah. So. That’s what props departments do. The medical scanner in the first Star Trek were salt shakers they stole from Paramount’s cafeteria. Doesn’t matter how they started, it matters if they look good on film.
Ummm. It’s only a movie, right? There are no blasters or Jedi Knights. It’s all make believe so you can just make up anything you want.
People actually argue about this crap.
Actually a lot of these “futuristic” weapons are stupid. They take a Smith and Wesson revolver and attach a bunch of crap to it making it heavy and unwieldy.
They were real blasters but the sites were way off as we can see that the imperial soldiers missed most of what they were firing at.
The LaMat shows up in
“Cold Mountain” and strangely In
“Twelve Monkeys.” Suppose
It’s just a cool Piece.
