When Chinese state-owned AVIC Auto and state-controlled Bohai Harvest RST partnered to purchase Michigan automotive supplier Henniges in September 2015, the transaction had to first be approved by the United States through the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) since it resulted in foreign “control†of a U.S. business that might pose a threat to national security. The fact that Henniges’ anti-vibration technology is used on U.S. joint strike fighters like the F-35 and that the Chinese government would effectively obtain to that technology through its purchase should have been enough for CFIUS to deny approval. Government...

A riot has erupted in Philadelphia after a black male was shot by police after charging at officers with a knife. The shooting took place shortly before 5 p.m. on Monday, and footage of the incident quickly went viral on social media. The man, Walter Wallace, was pronounced dead at the hospital. “Officers ordered him several times to drop the weapon,” Philadelphia Police Sergeant Eric Gripp said. “He did not do so.”

Popular evangelical pastor John Piper made his case for Christians not voting for either Donald Trump or Joe Biden. Piper makes clear Biden’s far-left policies are abhorrent to Christians, acknowledging that they’re geared toward what Piper describes as “baby-killing, sex-switching, freedom-limiting and socialistic overreach.” But what about Trump, whose policies for the past four years have proven to be overwhelmingly consistent with, and supportive of, evangelical Christian sensibilities and concerns? Donald Trump is, in fact, widely regarded as the most pro-life president of our lifetime. Likewise, as president he has been the best friend of Israel in a generation, courageously...

The Fisheries Agency moved to secure the safety of Japanese fishing boats operating in the rich Yamatotai fishing grounds within the nation’s exclusive economic zone by requesting they avoid certain areas and go elsewhere due to a recent surge in Chinese vessels moving in. The request, directed at Japanese fisheries cooperatives, caused considerable grumbling with a fisherman in Ishikawa Prefecture, facing the Sea of Japan, griping, “When a burglar has entered one’s backyard, would anyone say do not get near the thief?” Fisheries Agency officials declined to go into details, saying only that its request was aimed at securing the...

Research from Saint Louis University finds that high fat or "ketogenic" diets could completely prevent, or even reverse heart failure caused by a metabolic process. In an animal model, drastic heart failure in mice was bypassed by switching to high fat or "ketogenic" diets, which could completely prevent, or even reverse the heart failure. "Thus, these studies suggest that consumption of higher fat and lower carbohydrate diets may be a nutritional therapeutic intervention to treat heart failure," McCommis said. "Interestingly, this heart failure can be prevented or even reversed by providing a high-fat, low carbohydrate "ketogenic" diet," McCommis said. "A...

Coons said, “[W]e’ve got to have a wide-open conversation about how do we rebalance our courts. Yes, the two Supreme Court [seats] that have been stolen through these processes that are just wildly hypocritical have been used to jam through partisan nominees. But we’ve got to look at our federal courts as a whole. Because we’ve seen hundreds of conservative judges put on circuit courts and district courts all over this country in the last four years, in many cases, too young, too unqualified, and too far right to be allowed to sit peaceably without our re-examining the process, the...

I begin with charity. The most charitable thing I can say upfront about Democratic presidential candidate Joseph Biden and his son Hunter is that if they haven't been up to no good, they've done a marvelously convincing job of pretending to be. If actually innocent, we must say these simulators of guilt would put to shame an All-Star Team of Thespians made up of Laurence Olivier, Richard Burbage, Lionel Barrymore, Lillian Gish, and Michael Caine, prepped by the Strasbergs, approved by Stanislavski, and directed by Ingmar Bergman. If innocent, these guys are way above Oscar level. But what if the...

Amy Barrett will decide key Pennsylvania ballot case Republicans return to Supreme Court to challenge extended deadline for mail-in ballots Last Monday, the Supreme Court upheld a decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that allows the state to count mailed-in ballots received within three days after the election, and allows for signatures that don’t match. Last Friday, though, the Pennsylvania Republican Party returned to the Supreme Court. This time, rather than asking the court to put the state supreme court’s ruling on hold, they asked the justices to rule on the merits of the case – and to do so...

China said Monday it would impose sanctions on Lockheed Martin, a Boeing defence division and other US firms involved in arms sales to Taiwan, the self-governed island that Beijing views as its territory. The two US giants were involved in a recent sale of nearly $2 billion worth of missiles to Taiwan, alongside Raytheon, and foreign ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian urged the US to stop arms sales to the island. Beijing says Taiwan is an inviolable part of China to be reclaimed, by force if necessary. Zhao said the sanctions were "to safeguard national interests" and would apply to those...

The study, which was published today in The Planetary Science Journal and presented at the virtual meeting of the American Astronomical Society's Division for Planetary Sciences, paints a clearer view of the asteroid than was previously available. At about 140 miles in diameter, Psyche is one of the most massive objects in the main asteroid belt orbiting between Mars and Jupiter. Previous observations indicate that Psyche is a dense, largely metallic object thought to be the leftover core of a planet that failed in formation. Becker observed the asteroid at two specific points in its rotation to view both sides...

A Catholic charity has launched a campaign urging Prime Minister Boris Johnson to grant UK asylum to a young Christian girl in Pakistan receiving death threats from a Muslim rapist who forced her to marry him and convert to Islam. During the coronavirus lockdown, Mohamad Nakash kidnapped at gunpoint Maira Shahbaz, a 14-year-old Catholic girl from the Punjab Province, gang-raped her with two other accomplices, blackmailed her, and forced her to convert to Islam. In early August, the Lahore High Court ruled that Shahbaz had voluntarily converted to Islam and therefore is legally married to Mr. Nakash, who claimed that...

Britain’s national inquiry into child sex abuse has been blasted for ‘cowardice’ over race as it refused to look at grooming gang scandals carried out by mostly Pakistani gangs, or to hear from key witnesses. Victims of the grooming gangs ... blasted the public probe, ..., after it emerged would not be examining any of the notorious cases in which ‘Asian’ gangs have preyed on thousands of mostly white, working class girls. The Inquiry has so far looked at organisations like the Church of England and the Armed Forces... It was believed that the ‘organised networks’ section of the inquiry...

The Holy See and the Chinese government announced on October 22 that they have agreed to a two-year extension of their secret agreement governing the appointment of Catholic bishops. A Vatican statement announcing the renewal said: The Holy See considers the initial application of the Agreement—which is of great ecclesial and pastoral value—to have been positive, thanks to good communication and cooperation between the Parties on the matters agreed upon, and intends to pursue an open and constructive dialogue for the benefit of the life of the Catholic Church and the good of Chinese people. In renewing the accord, the Vatican...

Texas is preparing to send in 1,000 troops to five major cities across the state 'to deter any civil disturbance' post-election while stores in Washington DC begin to board up their windows Monday. Maj. Gen. James K. Brown, of The Texas National Guard, told The Express News the move would offer support to local law enforcement 'as we did previously to deter any civil disturbance at sites in various cities within Texas'. In the nation's capital businesses close to the White House began to board up their windows Monday. Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills will also board up ahead of...

Pope engages Catholics to advance 'globalist ideology'First published by LiberoJust this morning, Bergoglio has announced the creation of 13 new cardinals (of whom 9 are electors). They are all ultra-Bergoglians. The hasty announcement at this moment, right on the eve of the U.S. election, is significant: Trump has strong momentum and now the Bergoglian Vatican is very afraid that he may be re-elected. Bergoglio, along with the entire globalist establishment, has declared war on Trump. If Trump really wins, then this pontificate, which is already in sharp decline, would be finished indeed, since it has crushed itself on China and...

Paris (AFP) — France’s largest employers’ federation on Monday urged companies to “resist the blackmail” over a product boycott by Arab countries as a backlash widens over Paris’s hardened stance against radical Islam. French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to take the fight to Islamic radicals after the October 16 beheading of a history teacher who had shown cartoons of the Prophet Mohamed to pupils in a class discussion on free speech. But his comments triggered protests in Muslim-majority countries at the weekend, with people burning pictures of Macron in Syria and setting fire to French flags in the Libyan...
