Research from Saint Louis University finds that high fat or "ketogenic" diets could completely prevent, or even reverse heart failure caused by a metabolic process.
In an animal model, drastic heart failure in mice was bypassed by switching to high fat or "ketogenic" diets, which could completely prevent, or even reverse the heart failure.
"Thus, these studies suggest that consumption of higher fat and lower carbohydrate diets may be a nutritional therapeutic intervention to treat heart failure," McCommis said.
"Interestingly, this heart failure can be prevented or even reversed by providing a high-fat, low carbohydrate "ketogenic" diet," McCommis said. "A 24-hour fast in mice, which is also "ketogenic" also provided significant improvement in heart remodeling."
Diets with higher fat content, but enough carbohydrates to limit ketosis also significantly improved heart failure in mice lacking cardiac MPC expression.
"Our study reveals a critical role for mitochondrial pyruvate utilization in cardiac function, and highlights the potential of dietary interventions to enhance cardiac fat metabolism to prevent or reverse cardiac dysfunction and remodeling in the setting of MPC-deficiency," McCommis said.Ongoing studies will seek to uncover the importance of ketone body versus fate metabolism in this process of improved cardiac remodeling.

Cheese almost kilt me but will now fix me?
Bacon! Yeah!
Yeah...Dairy makes me fat...
As long as you dont die from lactose intolerance or its aroma.
I’m a big believer that our high carbohydrate diets are the major cause of not just diabetes, but also cancer, cardio-vascular diseases and even some forms of dementia. Insulin is the culprit and the way you control insulin is to cut out carbs in the diet. When you replace them you only have two choices, proteins and fats.
Humans can live without carbohydrates. They aren’t necessary for good health.
I have been Keto for about a year, have lost 114 lbs, HDL went up, LDL and Triglycerides went down, blood sugar went from 200 down to normal levels and was able to get off my Type II diabetic meds.
So yeah, I would say it works. Turn the food pyramid over and start your life.
Did you fall into a vat of cheez whiz?
Ping to you.
Well known. Carbs kill. Just stay with a low carb diet. Less than 20 carbs a day will do. Widely known, most of the best nutritionists are on board. But the Government is not. Don’t listen to plant based crap. Green vegys and animals will save your health.
Its because of how processed American wheat and grains are. French, Italians people the world over eat *fresh* bread with no problem.
Congratulations! I kinda went keto like a few years ago...my LDL went up by 50%...and HDL down a little. But...I’m thinking it was the dairy...we shall see in retest in a few months
Just cant pull the trigger until I find a solution for soft pretzels. The wife found net zero bread, and +1 hamburger buns. But I just cant see me saying I will never have a hot soft pretzel ever again.
be careful because it sounds as if you were morbidly obese, and when you cut out food groups you dramatically will reduce your calories causing weight loss.
You’re good results are more than likely due to losing all that weight thanks to a caloric restriction.
your*
Congrats, to you!! That is awesome.
I bet you feel like a new person, too.

= = = =
What are you even talking about?
Are you that clueless? Keto does not impose caloric restrictions.
Make a soft pretzel out of fathead dough.
LDL tends to go up for up to six months or so.
Interestingly, LDL isnt quite as bad as is claimed, in my current understanding.
>> Insulin is the culprit
The insulin, not the glucose?
