Two reasons the leftward ratchet continues: 1. leftism in practice creates the conditions it claims to correct. 2. it has an extremely legible scapegoat. Let's start with the second one.

Equilibria between illiberalisms is fragile. If one of them ever gets the upper hand, then decadent transitory liberalism collapses into a stabler, illiberal state.

Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is extending the order requiring facial coverings in public places until Nov. 8. The governor announced the extension at a press conference today in Montgomery. Ivey and State Health Officer Dr. Scott Harris issued the mask order effective July 16 as the state saw increasing numbers of coronavirus cases. The order was extended twice, most recently on Aug. 27, and was set to expire Friday. It is now extended through Sunday, Nov. 8. Ivey mentioned the national election as one reason for extending the order past Nov. 3. “I want everyone to (vote) and to be...

Anyone know what Biden's Campaign schedule is today? I assumed after last night he would have a LID Day or several of them. Talked to a friend a short time ago and he said where he saw Biden was on a Train Whistle Stop tour to someplace. If true Joe is certainly campaigning 19th Century Style so he can rest and sleep.

Deonte Lee Murray, the man accused in the ambush shooting of two Los Angeles County deputies in Compton earlier this month, has been charged with attempted murder, prosecutors announced Wednesday. Murray, 36, was taken into custody after a lengthy standoff three days after the deputies were shot, though his arrest was unrelated to the attack on the deputies, Sheriff Alex Villanueva initially said. The deputies, a 31-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, were shot in the face and head while sitting in their patrol car near the Compton metro station. Both underwent surgery and have been released from the hospital....

The operation will target at least three jurisdictions. he Trump administration is preparing a series of immigration enforcement operations targeting illegal immigrants in at least three sanctuary jurisdictions, a source familiar with the operations told Fox News Tuesday. The Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations will be in California, Denver and Philadelphia, and could potentially include other cities and jurisdictions across the country. The Washington Post first reported about the operations, which could take place as soon as this week in California. Acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf may travel to at least one of the areas, it said. “We...

Chris Wallace has received negative marks for his constant interruptions of President Donald Trump, and for his poor time management, but the worst thing about his moderation of the first presidential debate on Wednesday were the questions he asked. Here are the 11 dumbest, most slanted questions asked by Wallace. 1. ‘What is radical about racial sensitivity training?’ “This month, your administration directed federal agencies to end racial sensitivity training that addresses white privilege or critical race theory. Why did you decide to do that, to end racial sensitivity training? And do you believe that there is systemic racism in...

VIDEO James Comey had a rather funny defense for all the shenanigans going under his nose while he was FBI Director: he was completely incompetent. As you can see in the clip in the video above and at greater length at the video link below, Comey went full incompetent fool at the Senate Judiciary hearing. It had to be incredibly humiliating but it sure beat the alternative of testifying that he knew what was going on all around him and end up indicted.

September 30, 2020 The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate. Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly. The Commission is grateful to Chris Wallace for the professionalism and skill he brought to last night’s debate and intends to ensure that additional tools to maintain order are in place for the remaining debates.

Jessica Hertz, a former Associate General Counsel for regulatory matters at Facebook, has joined the transition team of Democratic Presidential campaign Joe Biden. The hire speaks to the close relationship between the Biden camp and big tech platforms such as Facebook which frequently weaponizes its service to censor and suppress conservative users and content. In lockstep with narratives pushed by the Transition Integrity Project, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently declared the social media platform would aim to convince Americans that “there’s nothing illegitimate about this election taking additional days or even weeks” to identify the winner. Hertz is part of...

'Well, first of all, I guess I’m debating you, not him,' Trump said to Chris Wallace during Tuesday's 2020 presidential debate. Fact check: True. Debating one person is difficult, especially if he’s had oodles of alone time in his basement to prepare while you’ve been a little busy leading the country. Debating that person and a partisan media hack at the same time is just BS.That, however, was President Donald Trump’s exact plight Tuesday night at the first 2020 presidential debate, when he was treated to a two-on-one showdown with his actual opponent Joe Biden and his honorary rival, Fox...

The organizer of a Southern California rally against police brutality and racism was charged with attempted murder Tuesday for driving her car into counterprotesters and running over a woman’s head. “When you’re talking about attempted murder, you’re talking a requirement that the state prove that … she drove into the crowd with the true purpose to cause someone’s death,” Armour said. “That says something about their motivations, their character, their state of mind. It’s a value judgment. It’s a moral judgment.” Prosecutors are alleging just that. The felony complaint said Turner had the “specific intent to kill” the woman who...

With the CDC looking to possibly extend the No Sail Order to next year, the White House overruling the CDC, and cruise line executives meeting in the White House on Friday, it seems that chaos reigns in the cruise industry. In the meantime, some ships have been laid up for over six months. Carnival Corporation is expediting the process of selling 18 vessels. Cruise & Maritime Voyages entered administration. Businesses dependent on the cruise industry ashore are recording record losses, and most crew members have been at home with no income for six months now. The scale of the industry?...

MEMORIAL OF SAINT JEROME LUKE 9:57-62 Friends, today’s Gospel invites us to follow Jesus above all. The heart of the message is the claim that he is everything, the one for whom a totalizing decision has to be made. I want to consider in detail how one man in our Gospel responded to the Lord’s call to discipleship. Jesus simply said, “Follow me,” and the man replied, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” Well, then as now, nothing would seem more reasonable! Of course, you have to take care of your own father’s funeral. What could be...

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court weighed Tuesday whether to go along with conservatives who argue that 130,000 voters should be removed from the rolls in the hotly contested presidential battleground state, while the Democratic attorney general defended not purging them. The Wisconsin case is one of several lawsuits across the country, many in battleground states, that seek to purge voters from registration rolls. It is being closely watched because President Donald Trump won the swing state by fewer than 23,000 votes in 2016. However, the lawsuit was unlikely to be resolved by the state Supreme Court before...
