House Democrats remain divided on impeachment, with only 175 out of the party’s 235 U.S. Representatives willing to vote for ousting President Donald Trump, according to a Wednesday report citing Capitol Hill insiders. Politico’s morning Playbook pegs the current whip count at 43 votes shy of the 218 needed to start the impeachment process: “Right now, Democratic insiders say 175 of their members would vote for impeachment today on the House floor,” write authors Anna Palmer and Jake Sherman.

A man spat twice in the face of a fellow straphanger as the doors of a subway car closed at 34th Street in Manhattan, thinking he was in the clear because his target was still on the train, video shows. But his target was able to pry the doors back open — and ran out onto the platform and pummeled him unconscious, according to the footage, which was posted on Reddit. “He’s livid! It’s over!” the person filming the clash can be heard saying of the spat-on man.

Although the wild population did plummet for a...

Street brawls broke out last night as protesters burned the Stars and Stripes during President Donald Trump's $15million fundraising visit to Los Angeles. There were furious skirmishes outside the Beverly Hills Hotel on Tuesday when anti-Trump demonstrators were set upon while trying to set the US flag on fire. Riot police were deployed to deal with the violence and a massive baby blimp of the President flew over Palo Alto as he met with wealthy Republicans to pick up funds for his 2020 re-election bid. The usual traffic chaos during the LA rush hour was dialed up as joyous Trump...

It was decided to form a joint coalition negotiations team for all factions in the bloc. In addition to Netanyahu, the meeting saw the participation of Minister Yariv Levin and faction heads: Yaakov Litzman, Moshe Gafni, Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked, and Bezalel Smotrich. Just wanted to ask a simple question. Do you think history influences culture? I mean particularly American history on American culture. If yes, why? If no why not? Is it a major influence, or only minor?

Costs for renewable power generation have dropped fast, but they will not improve 10-fold anymore - physical limits will be reached...Common comparisons of renewables vs. conventional power generation are misleading. One cannot compare marginal costs for intermittent power with costs for base power...[This is the best essay on this subject I have ever read]

President Donald Trump criticized former Rep. With Microsoft embracing Linux ever more tightly, might it do the heretofore unthinkable and dump the NT kernel in favor of the Linux kernel? No, I’m not ready for the funny farm. As it prepares Windows 11, Microsoft has been laying the groundwork for such a radical release.I’ve long toyed with the idea that Microsoft could release a desktop Linux. Now I’ve started taking that idea more seriously — with a twist. Microsoft could replace Windows’ innards, the NT kernel, with a Linux kernel. It would still look like Windows. For most users, it would still work like Windows. But the...

Perhaps Nancy Pelosi should consider opening up an Impeachment Denial Office on Capitol Hill, as her caucus seems determined to threaten it for pretty much anything. Several Democratic presidential candidates demanded the impeachment of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh over a badly reported smear job at the New York Times, and a few of Pelosi’s colleagues jumped on that bandwagon. By yesterday afternoon, however, the backfire was evident enough for Pelosi to put her foot down: House Democratic leaders and rank-and-file members are dismissing calls to impeach Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, with some arguing the House has limited...

Here is a new book that is about to publish: The Life of Saint Ambrose by Paulinus of Milan, also known as the Vita Sancti Ambrosii. Well, in truth, it’s a reprint of a text that was originally published in 1928. It has been out of print for nearly 100 years and is the only stand-alone English translation of this ancient work currently available. Aurelius Ambrosius is one of the towering figures of Late Antiquity. A voluminous writer and homilist, and a spiritual father to other great saints including Augustine of Hippo, Ambrose was deeply involved in the theological and...

President Trump is blaming Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke for making it “much harder” for him to reach a bipartisan deal with Democrats on gun control legislation in the wake of a string of mass shootings. Trump tweeted early Wednesday that the former Texas congressman, whom he labeled “dummy Beto,” had “convinced many” that Democrats want to take people’s guns away. The tweet came after O’Rourke, whose home state witnessed recent shootings in El Paso and Odessa, proposed a mandatory buyback for assault weapons. “Dummy Beto made it much harder to make a deal. Convinced many that Dems just want...

Based on the reporting in the press, I bet the public has no idea that murders were down under President Trump, compared to President Obama, and murders rose throughout Obama’s term. After murders rising from 2014 to 2016 under Obama, they leveled off in 2017 after Trump was elected and in 2018 there was a substantial drop. So why does so much of the reporting make it appear that Trump is causing more violence? I bet they also have no idea that the murder rate today in the U.S. per 100,000 residents is less than half what it was in...

Apparently, even leftists know a phony when they see one. What else can be concluded from a new Emerson poll which reports that Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris's support has cratered in her home state of California, falling behind that of even eccentric businessman Andrew Yang. It's not good news for the Democrat popularly known on Twitter as 'horizontal Harris': Why is that so bad? Because, well, for starters, it's so low. Harris is trailing badly against rivals Elizabeth Warren, Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders for one. She's also pretty humiliatingly edged out now by Andrew Yang, a marginal candidate...

New evidence has emerged that Rep. Ilhan Omar did indeed marry her brother, and that her real name may actually be Ilhan Nur Said. A resurfaced tweet from 2013 links to a now-deleted Instagram post in which she refers to her father by the name Nur Said. The tweet was later deleted this morning! In 2009, Rep.
