President Trump announced Thursday he’s slapping tariffs on all goods imported from Mexico as punishment for what he darkly described as the country’s failure to combat “chaos” on the U.S. southern border. In a Twitter statement, Trump announced a 5% tariff on all Mexican imports will start June 10. […] The potentially economically crippling tariffs — which will be paid by American consumers of Mexican goods — are allowed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, Trump said. In his statement, Trump painted the unprecedented number of migrants arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border with a broad and fear-mongering brush.“Gang members,...

An analysis of the causes of death of 3,419 former athletes in the National Football League and 2,708 former Major League Baseball players finds that football players suffer a mortality rate nearly 1.3 times higher than baseball players. The study, published last week (May 24) in JAMA Network Open, calculated NFLers to be 2.5 times more likely to succumb to cardiovascular disease and nearly three times more likely to die from neurodegenerative disease than MLB players. The underlying reason for the disparity is not known, and it’s unclear if it has to do with elements of the sports themselves, such...

"So, Trump…did commit a crime? Or did he just not not commit a crime? Robert Mueller, why don’t you just speak English?! Even Yoda would be like, ‘Mmm, report confusing you make.'" That was Comedy Central's Daily Show host Trevor Noah on Wednesday scratching his head over just exactly what Robert Mueller actually said at his press conference earlier in the day. Noah also poked fun at the liberal media's wild speculations as to what Mueller would say although all they had to do was wait a very short while for him to speak his rather obfuscated English.

LaCroix is "effectively in a free fall" amid declining sales and rising competition, according to a new research note from Guggenheim Securities. "The LaCroix brand has gone from bad, to worse, to disastrous in a relatively short period of time following negative media attention regarding the 'natural' claim of the brand's flavoring ingredients that surfaced in October of last year," analyst Laurent Grandet wrote. A lawsuit last year alleged that LaCroix contains artificial ingredients, which is contrary to the company's "all-natural" marketing claims. LaCroix has denied the claims in the suit.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex, seemed as surprised as everyone else when he admitted he agreed with a proposal put forward by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-NY. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ✔ @AOC If you are a member of Congress + leave, you shouldn’t be allowed to turn right around&leverage your service for a lobbyist check. I don’t think it should be legal at ALL to become a corporate lobbyist if you’ve served in Congress. At minimum there should be a long wait period. Ted Cruz ✔ @tedcruz Here’s something I don’t say often: on this point, I AGREE with @AOC Indeed, I have...

In what can only be construed as the "literally, no one” meme brought to life, next month San Francisco is getting a pop-up called the Rat Bar where “rats run free and the booze flows like water.” The project comes from the folks behind the San Francisco Dungeon at Fisherman’s Wharf, a haunted house-like venture specializing in theatrical recreations of historical events. The pop-up is slated to run from June 13 to 15 at 145 Jefferson St. In 2017, this same group brought a similarly styled rodent spot to the city called the Black Rat Cafe.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has opposed virtually everything President Trump has done since he took office, but she apparently cheered at his firing of FBI Director James Comey according to a new book. In the volume, "We’ve Got People: From Jesse Jackson to AOC, the End of Big Money and the Rise of a Movement," author Ryan Grim, the Washington bureau chief of The Intercept, interviewed people in Clinton's inner circle, including former spokesman Brian Fallon. Grim said Clinton was "ecstatic" when news of the Comey move broke. “She had spent the winter and spring poring over survey...

A lone swimmer in the Gulf of Mexico was circled by a shark without her knowing, according to a frightening video. Stan Battles reportedly took the video Wednesday morning from his balcony on the 28th floor of a resort at Panama City Beach, Fla., according to the Panama City News Herald. The outlet reported Battles had been watching the shark for a couple of hours in murkier waters until it swam into a clearer area, which is when the woman swam by. That’s when he started filming the shark. “The woman swims directly over this thing,” he told the outlet....

Watch out, folks! The Federalist’s Sean Davis is dragging the beaten hypothetical corpse of Robert Mueller through. He just took the man to the woodshed in his latest piece and rightfully so. The Russia investigation is over. Special Counsel Mueller is done. He’s done talking about it. He directed us to read the report that was compiled after two years of digging and to leave him alone. Oh, and Democrats, go ahead with impeachment wink* wink*. He twisted the words of his investigation’s findings on Russian collusion; none was found. But Mueller phrased it in a way that left it...

It has been just over a month since the Supreme Court heard oral argument in a challenge to the decision by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to include a question about citizenship on the 2020 census. A federal district court in New York had blocked the government from using the question, ruling that the government’s conduct had violated the federal law governing administrative agencies. But the district court concluded that the challengers had not shown that the question had been added out of an intent to discriminate against Latinos and other immigrant communities. Today the challengers alerted the Supreme Court...
