It has been just over a month since the Supreme Court heard oral argument in a challenge to the decision by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross to include a question about citizenship on the 2020 census. A federal district court in New York had blocked the government from using the question, ruling that the governments conduct had violated the federal law governing administrative agencies. But the district court concluded that the challengers had not shown that the question had been added out of an intent to discriminate against Latinos and other immigrant communities.
Today the challengers alerted the Supreme Court to new evidence indicating that a Republican redistricting strategist had played a key role in the decision to add the citizenship question to create an advantage for whites and Republicans in future elections.
The notification came in a letter to the Supreme Court from Dale Ho, a lawyer from the American Civil Liberties Union who argued on behalf of the challengers last month. The challengers, Ho wrote, had filed a motion in the district court suggesting that the government should be sanctioned because the new evidence contradicted both testimony by senior government officials and representations by government lawyers in the case.

“to create an advantage for whites and Republicans”
So he’s admitting that most non-citizens here are neither?
Thanks for validating our suspicions there “Dale”.
chain of custody....
The American people have a right to not have districts redrawn and electors granted on the basis of how many illegal alien invaders are present in the districts.
In the early days of our country, southern Democrats tried to have slaves counted as regular citizens in order to inflate their own political power, even though they did not consider slaves as the equivalent of citizens. The 3/5 of a person rule was a compromise to limit southern Democrats’ ability to inflate their political power on the backs of those they subjugated.
Can anyone explain how counting illegal aliens as if they are citizens is any less of a power grab?
Clearly, DemocRATs have not changed at all.
Once a case has been argued, how do they add new evidence. Especially after all the appeals that have happened

I predicted this:
"They found their villain and now they're going to compose their narrative around him."
This case by the ACLU is just absolutely silly. Why a question about whether or not you are a citizen can be included even was questioned is rediculous. It provides information for the country to provide for it’s citizens. The democrats want illegal aliens to stay for future elections because some of their current voting base is waking up. That is what this case is all about.
Census takers ask questions about marital status and income.Info like that can easily be used to discriminate.
Yes, his estranged daughter found the new evidence on an old hard drive at his house.
Gee, you dont think she might have an AGENDA, do you?
The drafters of the 14th Amendment knew how to say "citizens"-- that word appears three times in that amendment. But when the 14th Amendment gets around to talking about Congressional representation, it says, "Representatives shall be apportioned among the several states according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each state..." The "whole number of persons" obviously is a broader class than "citizens."
Representation without taxation
There’s more to that Amendment. While it supports your use of the word persons, it calculates a net total more akin to that which exDemMom implies.

i don’t think they can ... sounds like a publicity stunt ...
They got the C. B. Ford woman to makeup her skin to look Latino and then tell in a squeaky voice how years ago, at a party, someone said that because of census data, they would handcuff her to stop her from voting....
