Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem (Old Testament) 2 Samuel 24 David Enrolls the Fighting Men 24 Again the anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.” 2 So the king said to Joab and the army commanders[a] with him, “Go throughout the tribes of Israel from Dan to Beersheba and enroll the fighting men, so that I may know how many there are.” 3 But Joab replied to the king, “May the Lord your God multiply the troops a hundred times over, and may the eyes...

BOSTON—The man behind the scheme to help wealthy students get into elite colleges by cheating on tests and faking athletic credentials also advised some families to falsely claim students were racial minorities, exploiting the push to diversify campuses, according to two people familiar with the situation. A son of Marjorie Klapper, a parent scheduled to plead guilty Friday for participating in the scheme, was incorrectly listed on his Common Application as being black and Hispanic, the people said. William “Rick” Singer, the college counselor who has agreed to plead guilty in the case and is awaiting sentencing, also arranged for...

Twenty-five white males are responsible for Alabama’s new abortion legislation, according to the news media. But, if Americans look more closely, they’ll find that’s a blatant miscalculation. Women – pro-life women – are the driving force. The “Alabama Human Life Protection Act,†or HB 314, considers abortion and abortion attempts felony offenses, except in cases where it’s done “to prevent a serious health risk to the unborn child’s mother.†The law acknowledges that women are victims of abortion and “will not be held criminally culpable or civilly liable.†On Wednesday, HB 314, which was sponsored by a woman, was signed into...

Higher education receives a lot of flack these days, and often rightly so. Controversies abound -- from admissions scandals and skyrocketing tuition costs, to violent protests and the shouting down of certain ideas. It’s upon this backdrop that I graduated with my Masters from the University of Miami last week. Despite these unsettling trends, President Julio Frenk’s commencement speech reminded me why good education is so valuable, and why I’m proud to be a Cane. President Frenk reminded us of the values that make University of Miami special -- respectful disagreement, the pursuit of truth, and an embrace of difference....

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio ended weeks of speculation and snickering by the New York City press corps on Thursday morning, when he joined the already overcrowded field of Democrats who are chasing their party’s presidential nomination. When Bill de Blasio first ran for Mayor in 2013, his campaign vigorously peddled his narrative of a “tale of two cities” which focused on the perceived inequities that he claimed divided what is perhaps the world’s most diverse city. Now, as he takes his act on the road, it’s just a little ironic that he’s named his Political Action Committee...

Nearly three decades ago, when Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards’ wife was 20 weeks pregnant with their first child, a doctor discovered their daughter had spina bifida and encouraged an abortion. The Edwardses refused. Now, daughter Samantha is married and working as a school counselor, and Edwards finds himself an outlier in polarized abortion politics. “My position hasn’t changed. In eight years in the Legislature, I was a pro-life legislator,” he said. When he ran for governor, his view was the same. “I’m as consistent as I can be on that point.” Edwards, who has repeatedly bucked national party...

Gov. Ron DeSantis is set to sign a ban on sanctuary cities in Florida that shield criminal illegal aliens from deportation in a historic victory for his administration. For years, Florida Republicans have attempted -- but failed -- to ban sanctuary cities across the state, which has one of the largest illegal alien populations in the U.S. with at least 775,000 illegal aliens. When DeSantis swept to victory last year in the state's gubernatorial election against the pro-open borders Democrat candidate Andrew Gillum, he promised to crack down on illegal immigration, an initiative opposed by many of the state's Republican establishment,...

FULL TITLE: 'View' Hyperventilates Over Heartbeat Law: GOP 'Trying to Set Women Back 75 Years' 'Barefoot and Pregnant!' Monday at The View, the hosts opened by fretting about access to abortion, after Georgia was the latest state to pass a bill which bans abortions after a woman is six weeks pregnant and a fetal heartbeat can be detected. After actress Alyssa Milano tweeted that women everywhere should go on a “sex strike” in protest, the co-hosts argued about this approach and the “war against women:” “Let’s talk about why are men having such a war against women? Why is the...

Wednesday at the hot topics table, the hosts of ABC’s The View criticized the abortion banning bill that was passed in the Alabama Senate last night. Co-host Joy Behar cried sexism, while Whoopi Goldberg complained about religion influencing politics, and Sunny Hostin argued with Meghan McCain over the meaning of pro-life. After introducing the topic, Behar sneered that the men who voted for this bill should be forced to be sterilized. “Can we look at the panel of men who did this? What do they have in common?” she asked as the producers put a giant image of the twenty-five...

Network anchors and reporters are currently freaking out over Georgia, Alabama and Missouri passing laws designed to protect the rights of the unborn, having already devoted almost an hour (59 minutes, 38 seconds) of coverage (May 7-16) to the these new laws. But when New York passed a radical law legalizing late term abortions back in January the networks didn’t care at all - spending zero seconds on the bill signed into law by liberal New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. Back in January the networks also shirked off Virginia Democratic Governor Ralph Northam’s support of a failed state bill that...

A team of marine archaeologists has uncovered a 3,600-year-old shipwreck in the Mediterranean, just off the coast of Antalya, Turkey. The ship, believed to have been a merchant vessel sailing from Cyprus, may be the oldest ever discovered, according to Haaretz... Based on its position and the large cargo of copper ingots found inside and around the wreck, it is likely to have been a trading ship, ferrying goods from Cyprus to the Aegean region. Although the ship is in very poor condition, and the hull has been almost completely destroyed, the bulk of the ship, together with its precious...

Things seem to be heating up there but Iran may now be looking for talks. Barry Stagner, with Amir in Colorado, adds his own pertinent comments. Iran is operating through proxies, with the Houthis in Yemen attacking a Saudi pipeline and the Shiite militias in Iraq being revved up. Iran has not become quarrelsome in recent days solely because of economic hardship caused by the sanctions. It helps to remember that the Shiites believe their own messiah can't come until the Ezekiel War.

On Thursday's Amanpour and Company on PBS, host Christiane Amanpour spent more than 20 minutes covering newly passed laws restricting abortion in a number of states, but only heard from the pro-abortion side as she spoke with liberal activist Gloria Steinem for almost 10 minutes, and then Planned Parenthood member, Dr. David Eisenberg, who performs abortions in Missouri. After recalling that Alabama Republican Governor Kay Ivey signed into law strong restrictions against abortion, with a major goal of the law being to push the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade, Amanpour introduced Steinem as the PBS host continued:...

For the media, particularly its rabid feminist cohort, Alabama’s near-total abortion ban on May 15 is a major step towards the death of democracy. In the eyes of New York Times feminist columnists like Jill Filipovic, forcing a woman to complete their pregnancy is a painful imposition, one that should require equal payment on the part of men: that is, having “a half inch cut off from your penis with every [pregnancy.]” Got that? The awesome power and gift to bring a new life into the world is really just the equivalent of castration, and men should pay this barbaric...
