BOSTONThe man behind the scheme to help wealthy students get into elite colleges by cheating on tests and faking athletic credentials also advised some families to falsely claim students were racial minorities, exploiting the push to diversify campuses, according to two people familiar with the situation.
A son of Marjorie Klapper, a parent scheduled to plead guilty Friday for participating in the scheme, was incorrectly listed on his Common Application as being black and Hispanic, the people said. William Rick Singer, the college counselor who has agreed to plead guilty in the case and is awaiting sentencing, also arranged for a proctor to cheat on the ACT admissions test for the teen, according to a Federal Bureau of Investigation affidavit filed in the case.
**SNIP**
Mr. Singer frequently gave families the option of misrepresenting race and would say that not doing so could put their child at a competitive disadvantage, said one of the people, who is familiar with his business.

Gee, imagine that.
Who are these schools to judge what someone identifies as?
Time to release Obama college records.
If a man can say hes a woman, why not? Libs created this crazy nonsense.
The Warren Maneuver - she got away with it, why not your own kids?
There’s an Indian kid (dot not feather) who claimed to be black for both college and medical school who has written about how easy it made his path.
It’s easy - really, too easy - to rag on this enormous thirst among elite colleges for blacks to be admitted. The underlying problem is real, though, and it isn’t going away.
We all have our adversity points stories. If you get my drift.
Yes,I recall seeing the article. It made the case that admissions officers put protected classes in the review pool whereas an Asian or person of india origin would be cast aside.
Once the selection pool was formed for review, ethnicity was not really looked at. So it was a way of gaming the system and clearing political hurdles.
How about the pure CIA fiction of an Hussein Havahd edjumeekashun? We know he applied at Columbia as an Indonesian, someone found his student ID. We still don’t know much about Havahd, as no one recalls ever seein him there.
I know a guy who moved here some years ago as a teen, a white Jewish immigrant from South Africa.
He says he got his citizenship during his junior year at Tulane. He went to the financial aid office and requested the paperwork for some African-American scholarship they had. Apparently the black admin was not amused as she gave him the forms.
He says he got a full ride his senior year.
Get rid of all these tests and the whole industry.Imagine the money that would be redirected if thousands of dollars didnt go to the $90/hr test prep companies.
THE LIBERAL ROT PUSHES STUPID TO THE HEAD OF THE CLASS.
Which, though I hate to have to say it, is why you never want to have a black doctor.
In 1973 I applied to the University of Cincinnati College of Law to start in 1974. I actually got a letter back saying they were glad to have me, but deferred for one year to assist them in achieving their minority student goals. I was so offended I went elsewhere. Still not until 1975 but I was not going to let it pass.
Today, I can’t find one minority from the class of 1977 that had a successful legal career. Some finished, two of which went to prison after becoming lawyers, a couple went to government jobs, but most all washed out. I am going to hang the freshman class photo on my wall to remind myself.
IT also relies on what is pretty much self-identification. There's nobody asking for DNA samples from applicants. And as more and more people have mixed-race children. There's going to be a growing number of people who are racially ambiguous. My wife, for example, had no idea that Megan Markle was black and I wouldn't have known myself until I learned it.
I really don’t see the big deal. If I feel Black, Latino, Native American, or female, then I should be able to identify as such.
Another example of anything that the left touches turns to crap.
I was advised to claim to be a minority. My cousin (with the same last name) is black.
He wrote down “Nebraskan” when asked about race.
That was 25 years ago. Neither one of us thought it was funny.
Our youngest child is African-American.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya.
Blond hair, blue eyes.
100% Caucasian (less a little Cherokee & Blackfoot)
More ‘African’ than Jessie, Oprah or Sharpton!
:-)
Because our son grew up in Africa, while in college he was made an honorary member of the African Students Association, which had NO “African-American” members!
