  • Lena Dunham, Reporting People To Authorities For Disagreeing With You Is Creepy

    The Federalist ^ | August 4, 2017 | Mary Katharine Ham
This week, famous millennial journaler Lena Dunham was strolling through an airport eavesdropping on a couple of flight attendants. There she was, just a right-thinking individual with fluency in approved language and a desire for a kind and compassionate society, when she heard a conversation that violated her sense of an ideal society. Then, as any individual principally interested in kindness and empathy would do, she reported the flight attendants’ conversation to their bosses at American Airlines. Then, filled once more with the compassion and humility that are her hallmarks, Dunham broadcast this conversation, and her reporting of it, to...

Media Matters for America, the George Soros-funded progressive activist organization, is praising Trump’s National Security Adviser, H.R. McMaster, for terminating some members of President Donald Trump’s National Security Council, criticizing conservative media for questioning his loyalty to the president, and his decision to allow former NSA Susan Rice continued access to classified information. “Media in support of President Donald Trump are calling for the ouster of Trump’s national security adviser, H.R. McMaster, accusing him of being a ‘globalist’ ‘traitor’ who is ‘aligned with the enemies of Trump and America,’ ” Media Matters wrote on its website on Friday. Media Matters,...

South Korea President Moon Jae-in has requested a call with President Trump sometime Sunday evening, the White House said. The notice, which came from a brief White House press pool report, did not indicate the purpose of the call. However, Trump tweeted around 9:22 p.m. Eastern to say he just got off the phone and brought up new international sanctions on North Korea....
  • Matt Drudge is firing warning shots at Trump, and that should worry the president

Matt Drudge has been in the White House an awful lot these days -- "all the time," as one senior administration official puts it. He's met with President Donald Trump, spent time with Ivanka Trump, and doled out advice to Jared Kushner. That he'd have influence in the Trump White House should not be all that surprising. The internet news tycoon, who founded and edits the Drudge Report, the narrative-setting conservative news website, has been one of Trump's most ardent supporters since Trump announced his candidacy. He boosted him through the contentious Republican primaries, helped him defeat Democratic presidential candidate...

In 1971, at a small USAR unit in upstate NY, I was assigned a Colt 1911 pistol. It was in the shape you would expect it to have been in after a few wars, etc. There were many obvious non-original parts, worn blueing, etc. The interesting item was that it a real Colt, not another manufacturer, and the serial number was 000086. I don't remember how many digits were in front of the 86, but as I remember, they were all zeros. It was definitely not a 1911A1. The armorer said it was most probably the eighty sixth Colt Automatic...

It is Sunday, August 6 – around 2:30 pm – live interview between HA Goodman and DNC fraud lawyer Beck. I am going to get it out as fast as I can, so I apologize for any errors. HA tells them he knows they are risking their lives. Jared says we have to accept that we have already lost Seth Rich and Shawn Lucas. When witnesses are dead in your case, you do not feel safe in prosecuting the case. Jared says he focuses on what can be done in moving forward. HA tells him the world knows how dangerous...

TEL AVIV — White House National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster served at a UK-based think tank financed by a controversial, George Soros-funded group identified by the Obama White House as central in helping to sell the Iran nuclear deal to the public and news media. From September 2006 to February 2017, McMaster is listed as a member of International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), where he served as consulting senior fellow. The IISS describes itself as a “world-leading authority on global security, political risk and military conflict.” The IISS has been supportive of the Obama administration-brokered 2015 nuclear accord with...

Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) regarding a technology aide on her staff who is under investigation for fraud. "The incompetence and terrible judgment displayed by Debbie Wasserman Schultz and House Democrats is jarring," the 2016 presidential candidate said a tweet on Saturday. (TWEET-AT-LINK).....
  • Ivy League Schools Brace for Scrutiny of Race in Admissions

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — A Justice Department inquiry into how race influences admissions at Harvard University has left selective colleges bracing for new scrutiny of practices that have helped boost diversity levels to new highs across the Ivy League. Harvard and other top-tier colleges closely guard the inner workings of their admissions offices, but they defend approaches that consider an applicant's race among other factors as a way to bring a diverse mix of perspectives to campus. While the schools believe they are on firm legal ground, experts say the investigation could inspire new challenges. "They're pulling the scab off...

TEXAS -- One of the most eloquent opponents of Texas' proposed gender bathroom law began identifying as a girl four years ago, when she was 3. It was at that age that Frank and Rachel Gonzales started to realize their child, Libby, wasn't living the life she was born to live. It wasn't always clear to them how best to support their first born. While on a family trip to California, Rachel took Libby -- then still called by her birth name -- to the toy store. It was there that things "came to a boil." "I said, 'You can...

China delivered frank advice to North Korea, its outcast neighbor, on Sunday, telling Pyongyang to make a “smart decision” and stop conducting missile launches and nuclear tests. The statement by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi came on the heels of a U.N. Security Council decision to impose additional sanctions on North Korea and its exports, and suggested that the American push to further isolate the regime of Kim Jung Un is reaping some dividends. But Wang also called on the United States to dial back the tension.
  • When Trump sticks to his agenda, he wins -- and the media lose

There's no clearer pattern in President Trump's first six months in office than him getting the best of the national media when he pursues the agenda he campaigned on and him losing when he does anything else. Trump on Wednesday backed a bill by Sens. David Perdue, R-Ga., and Tom Cotton, R-Ark., that aims to sharply reduce immigration and put a priority on admitting foreigners who know English and have higher work skills. During that day's press briefing, White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller won the argument against reporters attempting to find something wrong with a bill that follows...

Noam Chomsky has generally been one of the strongest intellectual voices of the left for decades. But he has an unexpected take on the growing scandal around President Trump and the alleged “collusion” with Russia. The 88-year-old MIT professor Chomsky, a celebrated linguist and philosopher, thinks that the Russia story is a major distraction and it’s wrong for Democrats to focus their energies on it. In an April 6th conversation, organized by the American Association of Geographers, Chomsky characterized President Trump as not having a strong center of beliefs, while “his only ideology is ‘me’. What is instead happening is...

I always find it faintly amusing to see how “mainstream” Catholic commentators attempt to diagnose the obvious malaise of the Church that developed abruptly after the Second Vatican Council, at whose beginning Pope John XXIII was praising “the Church’s vitality.” Take this commentary, for example, which laments that “[f]ew religious publications are willing to delve into the issues facing the Catholic Church today when it comes to declining attendance. Most priests do not want to recognize the fact that churches are now emptier today than ever before and parochial schools are closing at an accelerating rate.”Why?  The author never really...

President Trump and his campaign organization are going to war against the Russia investigations, said an official involved in the effort, launching a multipronged public relations offensive to spread distrust of special counsel Robert Mueller’s probe. Capitol Hill Republicans and Washington legal professionals say Mr. Trump should keep out of the investigation and focus on governing because his protestations keep the story in the media spotlight and make him look defensive. But the president is determined to confront head on the allegations of Trump campaign collusion with Russia and expose the investigation to be a political hit job. Marshaling opposition...
