It was 1 a.m. on a Saturday when the call came. A friend, a University of Virginia freshman who earlier said she had a date that evening with a handsome junior from her chemistry class, was in hysterics. Something bad had happened. Arriving at her side, three students —“Randall,” “Andy” and “Cindy” as they were identified in an explosive Rolling Stone account — told The Washington Post that they found their friend in tears. Jackie appeared traumatized, saying her date ended horrifically, with the older student parking his car at his fraternity, asking her to come inside, and then forcing...

With all the recent race clanging on MSNBC and other cable news networks, now’s probably a good time to remind everyone that America is among the least racist countries in the world. I know this statement will be shocking news to regular viewers of “PoliticsNation,” but it also has the quality of being true. From 2010 to 2014, the World Values Survey asked residents in over 50 countries who they would not want as neighbors. Just over five percent of respondents in the United States said “people of a difference race.” That’s far more tolerant a response than citizens of...

The Rev. Al Sharpton has been praised as a civil rights icon by prominent figures in politics, and "60 Minutes" reported that he has become President Barack Obama's "go-to black leader." Sharpton has been frequently in the media for leading protests against grand jury decisions exonerating white policemen in the deaths of unarmed African-Americans in Ferguson, Missouri, and Staten Island, New York. But many in the mainstream media have sought to downplay the negatives surrounding the firebrand minister, who has been accused of being a rabble-rouser out for personal gain, including: 1. When Sharpton sought involvement in the funeral of...

Tuesday morning, as Dr. Jonathan Gruber was testifying before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY)76% revealed some surprising words previously written by President Obama’s trusted economic advisor. According to Massie, Gruber co-authored a paper in 1997 titled: Abortion Legalization and Child Living Circumstances: Who is the “Marginal Child?” In it, Gruber wrote: From these results, we estimate that the legalization of abortion saved the government over $14 billion in welfare payments through 1994. In other words, murdering unborn poor children is good for the American economy. Gruber went on in his paper to state:

... As far back as 2004, notes Micah Zenko of the Council on Foreign Relations, the CIA began moving away from capturing and detaining suspected terrorists in favor of killing them via drone strikes. Zenko's own tally, based on reporting from non-governmental research organizations, puts the rough death toll at around 3,500 people. These include an unknown number of civilian casualties believed by independent researchers to number at least in the hundreds; the Obama administration reportedly counts "all military-age males in a strike zone as combatants," which produces lower estimates of civilian casualties. Tuesday's report from the Senate Intelligence Committee,...

Saudi Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi on Wednesday shrugged off suggestions that the world's biggest crude exporter might cut production to reverse the deepest price slump in years, saying the kingdom's output had remained steady through last month. Naimi's comments on the sidelines of an annual U.N. climate change conference in Lima, Peru, stuck to the message he laid out at OPEC's meeting two weeks ago: The market would be left to balance itself without the kingdom's intervention. That stance was seen as a shift from longstanding Saudi policy to act as a swing supplier. Oil prices have dropped $13 a...

From one woman who had an abortion: You could hear crying in the holding room… crying of women who already had the abortion. I remember the sounds, the smells, the suction… You could hear the sound of the motor of the pump, the suction when the baby was being withdrawn, the clinking of the utensils.… this hurts so bad [she thought] this is what I get, of course it’s going to hurt… Look what I’m doing… I just remember the crying… So many people crying. LANSING, MI — Coercing a pregnant woman to have an abortion could result in criminal penalties under Michigan bills debated Tuesday. Supporters say the legislation would add teeth to abortion regulations approved two years ago, but critics argue a “vague” definition of coercion could cause unintended consequences. “This is a very, very important issue to discuss and a very, very important issue to act upon,” Sen. Judy Emmons, R-Sheridan, who sponsored one of the measures, said during committee testimony on Tuesday. “(There’s) a lot of trauma for individuals who are forced to do anything, but certainly great trauma for someone...

A New Physics Theory of Life Katherine Taylor for Quanta MagazineJeremy England, a 31-year-old physicist at MIT, thinks he has found the underlying physics driving the origin and evolution of life. By: Natalie WolchoverJanuary 22, 2014 Comments (151) print Why does life exist?Popular hypotheses credit a primordial soup, a bolt of lightning and a colossal stroke of luck. But if a provocative new theory is correct, luck may have little to do with it. Instead, according to the physicist proposing the idea, the origin and subsequent evolution of life follow from the fundamental laws of nature and “should be as...

A lawsuit against a former Ohio abortionist could reveal violations of the state abortion clinic law, so he set up shop in Michigan while the suit moves forward. A West Virginia woman traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to a clinic owned by Martin Ruddock for a second trimester abortion which didn’t turn out the way she expected. Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue says that the woman later filed suit for a number of reasons. “The patient had undergone part of the abortion — he had actually started it,” Sullenger explained. “She found it too painful and frightening.” The terrified woman then...
