The district atttorney said Scheuermann also had self-inflicted knife wounds to the neck. which were "contributing causes to his death. "

Pennsylvania state police are investigating the shooting.

Morganelli met Tuesday with Atty. Josh Karoly, the lawyer of Scheurmann's family and is asking for any and all information Karoly uncovered during his own investigation to be brought forth, including additional witnesses.

He plans to meet again early next week with the family's lawyer.

The district attorney wants to know all the information before making any decision about possible charges.

His said his decision may be to refer the case to a grand jury or even to the state attorney general's office.

The deceased man was involved in a police chase back in October after driving on the wrong side of the road in Palmer Township and failing to stop for police.

I wonder when the victim decided to stab himself in the neck multiple times. It seem like the cop did a mercy killing here.

If the guy cut the carotid or jugular; he’s dead. It’s simply a matter of time.

If the cop shot him after the knife wounds were inflicted; does it really matter why? The end result would still be the same.

Yes it does... We shoot wounded animals (horses) in this country, not people. If the deceased died one heartbeat before he would have otherwise, it’s homicide.

We know how badly neck wounds can bleed.

Cop doesn’t know this guy (or if he is sick with communicable diseases).

Be safe and shoot the sob from a distance, stops the bleeding and potential risk for the cop.

a viable potential defense if this goes to court.

the classic argument: man commits suicide by jumping from a tall building
as he is falling he passes a room in which a man intentionally
fired a shotgun at someone else but misses and kills the suicide instantly.

is this murder?

Oh my. How about, neighbor calls in a crank call because you made him mad. Says you have been taking pot shots at him with a silenced weapon and you are actively in the process now.

Cops respond and have no idea what kind of firepower you might have or your state of mind. Safest way to handle the threat you pose is to destroy your house with you in it.

You stick your head out the door and say, "What the hell?" It has been deemed a capital offense to swear at police so they shoot your head off. Did you commit suicide or did the cops murder you?

Might be able to say my scenario has nothing to do with yours, but I would suggest that a world where yours makes sense will lead to mine.

It’s important to know the race of the victim and the cops before having an opinion on the case. /s

The ultimate in bad government is when it starts routinely shooting the people it governs.

That is true - you didn't say it. I just wasn't sure whether you noticed it.
