OREGON CITY, Ore. — It was an unusual call for Oregon firefighters: A 1,500-pound camel, named Moses, needed to be rescued. The call came in Tuesday night in Clackamas County after the Oregon City owners of the camel called firefighters to say that Moses had fallen into a sinkhole 6 to 8 feet deep and was possibly injured. The owners — who have several camels and run a children's ministry — had tried to get the camel out themselves but failed.

Christine O’Donnell won a remarkable upset in Tuesday’s Delaware GOP Senate primary. But the Tea Party movement and key supporters such as Sarah Palin and Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., may ultimately regret it. Perhaps not in the short term. Yes, O’Donnell faces even longer odds in the general election, and “Republicans’ road to 51 just got a lot harder according to Realclearpolitics.com’s Sean Trende says. Local officials in Ohio’s Andover Township have denied the use of their public square for a celebration of Constitution Day because of the “political affiliation” of its organizers. Without a state budget, California is relying on a patchwork of bank loans and personal credit lines to help sustain essential services around the state.
