It began with a television ad by Meg Whitman, the Republican candidate for governor, hammering Democratic rival Jerry Brown with a video clip from Brown's 1992 presidential nomination duel with Bill Clinton.
In the video, Clinton hits Brown, to wit: "CNN. Not me, CNN says his assertion about his tax record was, quote, just plain wrong. He raised taxes as governor of California. … He doesn't tell the people the truth."
It's effective because it's not Whitman whomping on Brown but Clinton, a popular political figure, and CNN, a reputable news organization.
. . .But Brown, a motormouth who at age 72 doesn't grasp that virtually everyone today has a video camera, then turned it into a mini-disaster.
On Sunday he was recorded in Los Angeles: "Meg Whitman. She stops at nothing. She's even got Clinton lying about me. That's right. No, did you see that? Where he said I raised taxes. It's a lie… I mean Clinton's a nice guy but whoever said he always told the truth? You remember, right?

Moonbeam needs to be hammered re his anti prop 13 actions and stand until the results came in re the vote and support of prop 13 when we defeated the tax and spenders.
