California budget despair continues for unpaid vendors
Sacramento Bee ^ | 9/15/10 | Kevin Yamamura

Without a state budget, California is relying on a patchwork of bank loans and personal credit lines to help sustain essential services around the state.

It isn't the government borrowing the money directly, but the thousands of businesses that have supplied state operations, provided medical services and cared for children without reimbursement since July.

Many of state government's business partners are used to the budget dance each summer: no budget, no payments. But as state leaders push the stalemate into record territory, contractors and care providers wonder how much longer they can last.

California - is it destined to become America’s “Greece”?

It's a good thing that CA has all that oil revenue coming in along with not having to pay big bucks for illegals. Otherwise, they'd really be hurting. /s

Indeed.

Instead of being tens of billions in the red, California would be two billion in the black were it not for the Mexican Invasion.

Unfortunately, I only see one outcome from the California Budget Mess. Taxpayers througout the rest of the counrty will be expected to bail that state out of it’s fiscal mess. It’s only a matter of time. You can move to another side of the country away from the leeches, but you will never escape them.

Along with Michigan, CA is the poster child for a progressive / union run economy. It’s a lesson in how to take unimaginable prosperity and turn it into poverty for all (including the union minions who thought they were destined for a lavish early retirement).

It's time for some of these vendors to sue in Small Claims Court and obtain Judgements. Then they can start taking possession of some of California's physical assets.

After all the bans on oil production in California it is still the 3rd largest producer of oil only behind Alaska and Texas. It could be a major source of income to help the state.

Maggots feeding on the dead corpse of CA. Sooner or later they are going to run out of flesh. Despite the knowledge that illegals are costing the state big time, that our welfare assistance attracts and keeps more clients and that our govt employees are consuming our state budget..nothing is likely to change. The inmates are running the prison..literally.

Living here in Southwest Washington (for the same reason a miner lives near the shaft...) it gives me great comfort that we have Oregon between us and Kallyfornea. When TSHTF, we can always blow both bridges over the river, and keep the thundering herd out of here...

Will the last American to leave California please bring the flag??

Washington? I’m not sure I’d be bragging about that place...
Pennsylvania is no Texas either, but it does have a healthy GOP State Senate firewall, and there’s a strong likelihood that we will elect conservative Pat Toomey to the US Senate.

Remember this movie where Doris Day successfully seizes a railroad asset to get what is owed to her and ends up starting her own railroad?

The vendors should cut off supplies to CA until their accounts are current. Start with the toilet paper suppliers. That might not be enough because CA government is so full of $#|+ anyway.

You can move to the other side of the world and you still wouldn’t be able to escape them.

Any host that feels healthy is likely to find a sudden upsurge in socalist feelings over some petty grievances before long.

It is understandable that so many good people are bent on leaving California.Yet whatever drives them away soon follow them.
