Two New York City apartments were raided following a visit by a suspected al-Qaida operative. No arrests were made and no weapons were found in Monday's raids, according to The New York Times. The man suspected of ties to al-Qaida is of Afghan descent and has been under FBI surveillance. He visited the Queens residences over the weekend and returned to his Midwest home, according to reports. The Times reported that the five men who lived in one of the apartments were all of Afghan descent and came from the same area of Afghanistan. The U.S. Justice Department's Joint Terrorism...

Recently I posted the following joke: A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE OF THE KIND OF REPRESENTATION WE HAVE IN CONGRESS, TRUE STORY: A noted psychiatrist was a guest speaker at an academic function where Nancy Pelosi happened to appear. Ms Pelosi took the opportunity to schmooze the good doctor a bit and asked him a question with which he was most at ease. ‘Would you mind telling me, Doctor,’ she asked, ‘how you detect a mental deficiency in somebody who appears completely normal?’ ‘Nothing is easier,’ he replied. ‘You ask a simple question which anyone should answer with no trouble. If...

In 1967, I was the radical Alinsky wrote the rules for. On the political cutting edge, I’d been arguing with fellow students and coworkers for years about Vietnam, and my growing disgust with my country led me down many winding roads of anti-American thought. I was counterculture before there was a name for it, skipping my prom and graduation as “bourgeois,” going barefoot, braless, and unshaven, and collecting tattoos at the only place in town those days — a crummy hole-in-the-wall next to downtown D.C.’s Greyhound station. Everything about me was about making a statement. And while it was pretty...

WATERFORD TWP., Mich. (WXYZ) - A woman who gave her son up for adoption 10 years ago is now accused of having sex with the teen after finding him on the Internet. Aimee Louise Sword, 35 of Waterford Township, has been charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct in the case. Investigators say she used the Internet to find her biological son. Sword was arrested after Child Protective Services informed police of the sex accusations. The woman's lawyer says she maintains her innocence. She is currently free on bond.

United Nations investigator Judge Richard Goldstone said on Tuesday that his commission had found that both Israel and the Palestinians committed war crimes during the offensive on the Gaza Strip earlier this year. Goldstone concluded that Israel committed actions amounting to war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity, during its December 27-January 18 military operations in the Hamas-ruled territory. A summary of his nearly 600-page report on the fact-finding mission's conclusions also said the firing of rockets into Israel by Palestinian militants where there were no military targets would constitute war crimes and possibly crimes against humanity, as well.

One way to fix this without expanding the military burden would be to send in a team of dedicated professionals whose word is law. I can think of at least three retired Marines who already know the terrain and would be willing to take on the task. They should not be on State payroll or AGNA payroll but paid by and answerable to a Senate or Congressional Oversight Committee.

President Obama’s visit to Center City to attend a fundraiser for Sen. Arlen Specter this afternoon will be sparking protests and is bound to clog up rush hour traffic. Air Force One touches down in Philadelphia at 3:45 p.m., according to the president’s schedule. Though police won’t give the president’s specific route through the city, either I-76 or I-95 are bound to be used--and jammed--right in time for rush hour. Obama’s three-hour-and-40-minute visit will be spent at the Pennsylvania Convention Center for Specter’s $2.5 million campaign fundraiser. The $1,000-a-head cocktail reception and $10,000-a-head dinner event begins at 3 p.m. In...

Obama-file 2 Barack Obama Was Endorsed by Chicago Marxists Obama-file 1 here Barack Obama came to Chicago in 1983, inspired by the city's new mayor Harold Hashington. A long time Communist Party associate and probable member, Washington, who died in office in 1987, stacked the city's administration with communists and socialists. Washington was also close to the Democratic Socialists of America. DSA was formed in 1983 by from a coalition of former Trotskyists, "new left" activists, ex Socialist Party and Communist Party members. DSA is now the US's largest Marxist organisation, however its moderate name has allowed it to infiltrate...

It appears the public disagreed with my assessment of the president's speech. I found little redeeming in it however both the President's personal popularity and the popularity of his health care reform bill have gotten a small bounce. The most recent evidence is Rasmussen showing an up trend for both health care reform and the president's popularity.

It was bound to happen, but it might have been the Orlando Sentinel's TV reviewer Hal Boedeker that was first out of the gate to compare the obscenity laden tirade disgorged at a tennis match by Serena Williams to the no more than annoyed outburst of "you lied" from Representative Joe Wilson during President Obama's healthcare speech. Apparently, according to Sentinel columnist Boedeker, there is no difference to pointing out that a liar is lying, as Wilson did, and losing one's mind in a petulant, childish explosion of anger, as Williams did. In fact, Boedeker didn't just compare Wilson to...

A short report on CNN’s Political Ticker is interesting for what it doesn’t mention in the story as well as its admittedly misleading trumpeted headline that Obama got “double-digit post-speech jump” after his Sept, 9 healthcare speech to a joint session of Congress. First the headline: “CNN Poll: Double-digit post-speech jump for Obama plan.” Reading that headline would lead someone to believe, well, that there was a double-digit jump in Obama’s numbers. After all, that’s what is says. But at the tale of the story the CNN piece the last paragraph admits that these numbers are heavily skewed to Democrats....

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Obama administration is unveiling plans to require higher efficiency standards for cars and trucks and tougher rules on vehicle greenhouse gas emissions. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson planned to release the proposed regulations Tuesday. They call for the auto industry's fleet of new vehicles to average 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016. The plan follows up on President Barack Obama's announcement in May that the government regulations would link emissions and fuel economy standards. The Obama administration estimated earlier this year the requirements would cost up to $1,300 per new vehicle by...

An interesting admission by James A. Williams, president of the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades in Philadelphia, can be seen in an interview he did with the Philly Inquirer. It is an admission that conforms one of the things that anti-union folks have been saying for years, but one union officials are loath to admit. While discussing the hard economic times, the Philly Inquirer asked how the recession was affecting the union. In his answer President Wilson admitted that his union uses out-of-work members for "political events." Wilson mentioned that they lower dues to $1 a month after...
