It appears the public disagreed with my assessment of the president's speech. I found little redeeming in it however both the President's personal popularity and the popularity of his health care reform bill have gotten a small bounce. The most recent evidence is Rasmussen showing an up trend for both health care reform and the president's popularity.

Apparently it bounced back down, too.
Obama is very good at saying what people want to hear, and that was the first half of his speech.
There is such a disconnect between what this guy says and what he does. He knows people are concerned about the cost of healthcare, so he just keeps saying that’s his plan. Meanwhile the plan costs an additional $1 trillion and there is nothing in it that will reduce cost.
The HuffPo is boasting about the New England Journal of Medicine poll that shows the vast majority of doctors favor the public option.
This Volpe guy is always a day late and a dollar short.

POTUS speeches always get a temporary bounce - especially if POTUS can talk like a snake oil salesman ...
But, after a few days, reality sinks in and the numbers generally go back to what they were before the speech.
BTW:
My Grandfather was a pol in Connecticut during the FDR years.
He said that the Speaker of the House (GOP) at the time refused to listen to FDR’s speeches. The Speaker said that if he listened to FDR, he would come away from the speech agreeing with him. The Speaker preferred to read the text of FDR’s speech afterwards.
