Each week we look forward to the Friday News Dump, that special time when the Government "dumps" a news story that will be unfavorable to them should it be well publicized. The theory being the public will be too busy to pay attention to the news during the busy weekend and when the news cycle begins on Monday, the "dropped" story will be old news. Yesterday, Obama Administration literally dropped one of its biggest supporters: ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now) Read more about it on The Hippo's Ass Blog

Toward the end of his speech on health care Wednesday night, President Obama said that he had been thinking a lot about the phrase "the character of our country." Too bad the president's speech had all the character of a free lunch. Obama argued for the moral imperative of providing quality health care for all Americans -- but it's not such a moral imperative that most people should have to pay for it.

Madam Speaker, I am sorry that I offended you, Madam Speaker, in any way, shape or form. I am sorry I called the president a liar on the House floor last week. I am sorry that the president called Sarah Palin a liar on the floor last week. I was confused about the Democrats’ real position when it comes to illegal aliens and healthcare. They call Republicans bigots when we say we don’t want illegal aliens to get healthcare, and then when we say that they support giving illegal aliens healthcare, they say that they don’t and then call us...

THIS WEEK (not 50 or 100 years ago), African Americans from ACORN were willing to enable children to become slaves - SEX SLAVES! Yet Radicals (fueled by media, public education, professional race peddlars as well as clever and corrupt distribution of tax dollars), still use our slave past to abuse America..... Why are we stuck in America's past while up to 60,000 humans a year are sold into slavery worlwide? ************************* Each year about 17,500 individuals are brought into the United States and held against their will as victims of human trafficking.... Some estimate the number is as high as...

You can sense the Washington Post editors’ growing irritation with Obama. With arms crossed and feet tapping, they want to know when he’s going to get to the hard part: figuring out how to achieve his lofty goal of universal health-care coverage, or at least expanded coverage, without breaking the bank. They write:

Sometimes it's best to go back and listen to the heavyweights in order to truely learn. Some answers don't deserve to be forgotten. _ Nobel Laureate Economist Milton Friedman explores the unsettling dynamics set into motion when government imposes itself into the health care system. (1978) _

A RIOT by Muslim youths in Auburn last week was organised via Facebook, police believe. The troublemakers used the social networking site to flash up inflammatory references to police and rally their friends for a confrontation. One update identified police as "non-believers" who were raiding a "brother's home". More than 150 people gathered in Cumberland Rd, Auburn, on Tuesday night, forcing police to call in 100 officers, the riot squad and a helicopter. The tense stand-off came after Middle Eastern organised crime squad police raided four homes. Opposition police spokesman Mike Gallacher's office revealed one of the Facebook updates read:...

I spent an hour in an alternate reality on Thursday. In this grim place of long shadows and short tempers, paranoia is the coin of the realm. Fear trumps fact. Anger is virtue. Grievance is universal. Rage is a commodity. Dissent is throatily endorsed, so long as it conforms to majority opinion. The Mob rules here, fella. In this alternate reality, history is malleable. If the record doesn't match the Mob's memory or support its agenda, it must be hammered into shape. Nothing is what it seems, anyway, except of course those things that really are what they seem. In...

Just a few observations from the latest Census report on Income in America. Real median household income declined by 3.6 percent between 2007 and 2008, from $52,163 to $50,303, following 3 years of annual income increases (Figure 1, Table 1, and Appendix A). The decline in income coincides with the recession that started in December 2007. Real median income declined for both family (3.3 percent) and non-family households (4.0 percent) between 2007 and 2008 Households of each race category and those of Hispanic origin had declines in real median income between 2007 and 2008 Native- and foreign-born households, including those...

In case you haven't heard, there's a debate about health care reform going on - today we find out that a campaign promise, no fines if you choose not to use government health care, is off the table if you are middle class. That's only going to aggravate the situation. What is needed is some clear thinking and some science-based evidence, but you won't find it in Washington. Heck, you won't even find it in medicine. The downside to insurance over the last few decades is that people have misunderstood what the word 'insurance' means. There have been lawsuits (at...

This event had been promoted as a taxpayer “tea party” but the crowd’s concerns were wide ranging, from outrage at ACORN and Obama’s socialist cadre known as Czars, to Obama’s untruthfulness. Protesters also displayed signs mocking Nancy Pelosi and others for smearing the grassroots movement as “astroturfers” and as an “angry mob”.I think this gathering should be appreciated as the extremely important historical event that it is. This is the first great conservative anti-statist manifestation in American history. The conservative movement, which developed in the post-WWII, Cold War environment has now fully matured into the most significant political movement of...

Many of us are having discussions today about the meaning of the gatherings yesterday. I am sure many are thinking in terms of a new political party. I would suggest another direction. The pitfalls of a 3rd party have been made manifest many times in the past. Furthermore, some of our Founding Fathers warned of the dangers of party loyalty. How else might we hold fast to Constitutionalism/Conservatism/Capitalism/ and not be held hostage to a political party whose members too frequently clash with these principles? I suggest a permanently grass-roots association of patriots who strictly adhere to the idea of...

WASHINGTON (CNNMoney.com) -- As President Obama turns up the heat on health care reform, one new and surprising detail to emerge is his pledge to tackle medical malpractice. "I don't believe malpractice reform is a silver bullet, but I have talked to enough doctors to know that defensive medicine may be contributing to unnecessary costs," Obama said Wednesday night. Obama's decision to wade into the issue has some insiders scratching their heads, because cutting down on medical malpractice lawsuits is a Republican tenet.

Just wanted to give an after report from the San Jose Tea Party. It started today around 1pm on the corner of Winchester and Steven's Creek. I'd say there were several hundred protestors. Lots of cars were going by and honking in our support. As usual, it was full of nice peaceful all-Americans. I heard that some of the protestors were going to a Town Hall meeting that Mike Honda was having. I didn't know about it, so I couldn't go. I didn't have a camera so I can't post any pictures. It's always very encouraging to see so many...

Group once linked to Barack Obama taped giving advice to 'brothel owners'By Toby Harnden in Washington Published: 9:19PM BST 13 Sep 2009 Acorn employees were taped giving advice on tax avoidance and employment of 13-year-old illegal immigrants to Right-wing activists posing as brothel owners. "It is clear that Acorn's affiliation with the 2010 census promotion has caused sufficient concern in the general public, has indeed become a distraction from our mission, and may even become a discouragement to public cooperation, negatively impacting 2010 census efforts," said Robert Groves, the census director. Acorn - the Association of Community Organisations for Reform...

Sapper Alexandre Beaudin-D'Anjou, his face still bloodied and badly swollen one day after a homemade landmine had killed two of his colleagues last week, announced he would answer questions about the awful incident, but only after making a statement. In what was an exceptional "cri de coeur" to his countrymen on the home front, the young combat engineer from Quebec City declared: "I want to say that part of the Canadian population negatively views the work that we do here, above all because they don't understand what we do. In my opinion, the majority of the Afghan population benefits from...

RIYADH: The family of Osama bin Laden has announced the death of one of the terror mastermind's brothers. In a full-page notice on Sunday in Al-Riyadh newspaper, the family said Thabet bin Laden passed away and the funeral is scheduled that afternoon in the holy city of Makkah. The notice said he died Saturday but did not give the cause of death or his age. Thabet bin Laden was one of 54 children born to Mohammed bin Laden, a poor Yemeni immigrant who started the family contracting business in the 1930s that grew into a multimillion dollar construction empire. The...

Here’s a front page story the New York Times (NYT) would rather not be running: The paper is warning readers to be aware of bogus ads running on its Web site. The paper says “some readers” have seen unauthorized pop-up ads promoting antivirus software on NYTimes.com, and warns visitors who see the ad not to click on it but to restart their browsers instead. While the Times doesn’t spell this out, it has likely had its site hijacked by a “malware” scammer who is trying to trick visitors into installing pernicious software onto their hard drives.
