RESERVATIONS! Recently, someone stopped by my office, handed me two sheets of paper, and said something to the effect of, "You're always sharing something with people; here's something for you." Then he was gone. Like so many encounters we have along life's way, this one was brief. But it left a lasting impression. And brightened my whole day. The article is definitely a "keeper." Originally written by Jonathan Lee for the Washington Post, it is entitled "Reservations of an Airline Agent." I've abbreviated it due to limited space, but the point is unchanged. Enjoy!...

America has been greatly blessed by God and has stood as the greatest country in the history of the world for over 200 years. America has many foreign and domestic enemies that are seeking her destruction. This thread is a daily call and reminder for people of faith who believe in God and in the power of prayer to make a commitment to intercede for America at this critical time in her history2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will...

First things first. Michelle has pictures and video which I link to below. It is inspiring. Now to the business at hand. No to big government … no to big spending … no to the direction this administration and this Congress are taking us. And by the way … no to the MSM. From Powerline:

British journalist Stephen Farrell owes his life to a remarkable rescue by Special Forces in Afghanistan – organised last week by Cobra, the crisis committee that sits in Cabinet Office Briefing Room A. ..... Farrell was a great prize: a British journalist working for an American paper. His death would have been drawn out, probably preceded by a drip feed of videos in which he pleaded for Nato withdrawal from Afghanistan in exchange for his life. ..... But in every volatile and dangerous kidnap situation Cobra will look for a Special Forces rescue option as an alternative to negotiations. ........

Trust Democrats to overplay a good hand. Rep. Joe Wilson's "You lie!" during President Obama's health care address has become the unofficial Republican response -- letting President Obama keep the offensive going. GOP congressional leaders are embarrassed. They asked Wilson to apologize; he only grudgingly accepted (South Carolina politicians have a history of not listening to other members of their own party). A poll in his district shows that Wilson's previously perceived safe seat is now in danger. Rob Miller, Wilson's announced challenger, has been the beneficiary of hundreds of thousands of donations in the immediate 48 hours after the...

I was so jealous of everybody who attended the Tea Party - what I wouldn't have given to be there! According to the U.S. census bureau, 131 million voters turned out in 2008. Today, 2 million people showed up in D.C. - that means that over 1% of the voting population were impassioned enough to go to D.C. Think of the numbers at home, like me, who could not get there. The dems should be running scared. If that many normal, everday Americans can make a trip to D.C., I'm sure more will make a trip to the polls!! Reading...

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger will veto a pair of bills lawmakers passed early today to ratchet up California's renewable energy goals, a spokesman said this afternoon. The governor supports a requirement in the legislation that by 2020 at least 33 percent of all electrical power delivered to Californians come from solar, wind, geothermal, biomass or small-scale hydroelectric sources. But Schwarzenegger dislikes provisions that would limit the amount of energy utilities could purchase from out-of-California providers

Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick" as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending. The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency. People were chanting "enough, enough" and "We the People." Others yelled "You lie, you lie!" and "Pelosi has to go," referring to California congresswoman Nancy Pelosi. Tens of thousands of people converged on Capitol Hill on Saturday to...

Tens of thousands of conservative protesters crowded outside the U.S. Capitol on Saturday, a massive demonstration aimed at stopping what organizers called the over-expansion of the federal government under the Obama administration. "Hell hath no fury like a taxpayer ignored," declared Andrew Moylan, head of government affairs for the National Taxpayer Union, urging protesters to call their representatives. "You're being ignored today by the media and some politicians." The crowd -- loud, rambunctious and sprawling -- gathered at the foot of the Capitol after a march along Pennsyvania Avenue from Freedom Plaza. Invocations of God and former President Reagan by...

Elton John has changed his mind on adoption, the star told Reuters on Saturday. On a visit to Ukraine with his AIDS Foundation, Elton reportedly performed his hit “Circle of Life” for children at an orphanage, some of whose parents had died of AIDS – and met a child who stole his heart. “[Partner] David [Furnish] and I have always talked about adoption,” the singer told Reuters. “David always wanted to adopt a child and I always said ‘no’ because I am 62 and I think because of the traveling I do and the life I have, maybe it wouldn’t...

Congressman Joe Wilson surpasses $1 million in contributions since challenging Obama! Some want him named "Truth Czar!"Conservatives who wanted a champion not afraid to take the fight to Obama have found a hero in Joe Wilson, my congressman, who catapulted to fame by shouting "You LIE" at President Obama when he falsely claimed that WE were the ones lying about illegal immigrants qualifying for benefits under Democrat health care takeover plans! Contributions have poured in from across the country from disaffected citizens willing to vote NO on Obama with their checkbooks by supporting a conservative like Joe. Over one million...

I received a telephone call telling me a friend died of a heart attack. His name was Bob Schindler. His death certificate may say he died of cardiac arrest but those of us who knew Bob know he really died of a broken heart. I first met Bob, his wife Mary and their son Bobby in 2001 while I was in Charlotte, North Carolina to deliver the keynote address at the U.S. National Right to Life Prayer Breakfast. Bob and MaryÂ’s daughter was Terri Schiavo. They approached me to ask for help to save Terri from being starved and...

Newsweek, in all of its wisdom, is still arguing that Sarah Palin lied about the death panel provisions in ObamaCare, but we really should have a death panel anyways. The author of the below piece, Evan Thomas, writes that his 79 year old mother wanted to die but the doctors wouldn't let her because the assisted living facility she was staying at was sustained by Medicare. He didn't like this and muses on how we can fix health care in this country by, you guessed it, getting people into hospice care and out of hospitals. People need to die and...

Even though the DC protest was much, much, bigger every little bit still helps. I did not see any SRM coverage so all the more reason to cover the one that happened in Phoenix today! Lots of flags and love of country on display . It happened in front of the State Senate. If they continue to ignore us using the first they will eventually see us use the 2nd amendment.

Posted By Victoria Jackson On September 10, 2009 @ 3:13 pm In Featured Story, Politics I’m lying in my Tiffany blue bedroom, in the dark, listening to the President tell lies. He’s so good at it, that he is smiling and lots of people are clapping. He says, “Public Option. No one will have to change, if they like their present situation.” LIE. He says, “My plan will not add one dime to the deficit.” LIE. (Congressional Budget Committee speak up!) He says that if we don’t act now, the country will fall apart. LIE. He says that quality of...

CINNAMON STILLWELL Eight years after the Islamic terrorist attacks of 9/11, it appears that America has largely drifted back into complacency. Certainly, many Americans still understand that the threat of repeated attacks remains real, but the sense of urgency has faded with time. Meanwhile, the country's current leadership and its supporters are inhabiting the willful blindness of a pre-9/11 mindset, if not acting as apologists for and, in some cases, active supporters of America's enemies. Misconceptions that began with the Bush administration continue unabated. There is an inability to grasp that, to quote Robert Spencer, the "stealth jihad," being visited...

So by now were all aware of the damning videos taken at the Baltimore & Washington, DC offices of ACORN teaching people how to break the law. 4 employees have been fired, and the U.S. Census has severed all ties to the organization. Despite this, they continue to receive taxpayer dollars from HUD (Housing and Urban Development) and to my knowledge Obama has not said one word condemning ACORNs activities, despite his close ties to the organization. Does this make The White House look complicit? You bet it does, especially considering how "Stupid" he said the Cambridge police were during...

This was announced by the Obama administration last evening. President Barack Obama on Friday slapped punitive tariffs on all car and light truck tires entering the United States from China in a decision that could anger the strategically important Asian powerhouse but placate union supporters important to his health care push at home. Obama had until Sept. 17 -- next week -- to accept, reject or modify a U.S. International Trade Commission ruling that a rising tide of Chinese tires into the U.S. hurts American producers. A powerful union, United Steelworkers, blames the increase for the loss of thousands of...

I would have been in Washington today. A last minute change in my plans did not allow me to take that 7:00 am bus to DC this morning. I have no access to television at the moment but see some of the pictures being posted on the Internet. One thing that I see in common in most of the signs is that they are not the fare of some highly organized protest with mass printed signs by unions or some left wing non-profits who like to squander the money of their contributors. No, what I see all over the place...

Two million people marching on Washington in protest? Get ready - after the Healthcare fight, they're going to crack down on free speech, free press and people assembling. And they're going to wrap their arguments in innocuous, even reasonable language such as "bringing diversity to the argument", "instilling civility to the debate", "making sure that only the truth gets discussed", etc. They'll do this to try to win the useful "moderate" tools that will go along with it. But I'm warning you: the crackdown on making your opinion known is coming.
