The relentless attacks on ACORN’s members, its staff and the policies and positions we promote are unprecedented. An international entertainment conglomerate, disguising itself as a “news” agency (Fox), has expended millions, if not tens of millions of dollars, in their attempt to destroy the largest community organization of Black, Latino, poor and working class people in the country. It is not coincidence that the most recent attacks have been launched just when health care reform is gaining traction. It is clear they’ve had these tapes for months. We are their Willy Horton for 2009. We are the boogeyman for the...

During President Barack Obama’s address on his health care bill, Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted “you lie” following the President’s assertion that his bill does not allow illegal aliens to participate in receiving benefits. The Democratic Party leadership is now planning to censure Wilson. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) called Wilson’s remark “shockingly disrespectful and unacceptable.” “While it is true that the President called his opponents liars, this does not grant others the right to respond in kind. The President represents the entire nation. He speaks for every American. Mr. Wilson’s small, red-neck constituency doesn’t give him the right to...

A south Minneapolis woman who had refused to leave her foreclosed home after being evicted last month has been removed from the house again. More than 40 supporters of Rosemary Williams on Friday afternoon lined the yellow tape that police used to cordon off the property, chanting and yelling as workers boarded up the house with metal sheeting and friends helped Williams carry out boxes of personal items. "It's not over yet," Williams told the crowd when she emerged from the house, smiling through tears as she held high a bouquet of flowers. The largely peaceful rally briefly turned physical...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi considered gaveling Joe Wilson out of order Wednesday night, but decided against calling out the South Carolina Republican in front of a national audience. “The episode was unfortunate. He has apologized. It’s time to talk about health care,” Pelosi told reporters today. But Pelosi, who appeared startled, then angry, after Wilson’s outburst, acknowledged that she was “shocked” at the incident. Pelosi said that she thought about taking formal action against Wilson but quickly decided that was not appropriate. And she said that President Obama “did the right thing” in simply resuming his speech after the heckling....

Here is video of talk show host Mason Weaver speaking at the "Taxpayers March on Washington" today. Weaver told the crowd, "I thought you would want to hear a black man speak to you without a teleprompter." Weaver blasted Obama by asking the crowd, "How's that Hope and Change working out for you?" He said Obama wants to "Change" us from "Freedom" to what? Hope? He said, "If you have Freedom you have all you need." Great speaker! . . . . (VIDEO)

By Mike Soraghan - 09/12/09 03:57 PM ET Rep. Joe Wilson's home-state senator says he doesn't expect the South Carolina congressman to apologize on the House floor, as House Democrats are demanding. "I don't think he's going to do any more apologizing," Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said in an interview at the Taxpayer March on Washington. "They just don't want to talk about the bill." DeMint said he has talked to Wilson, and he defended the conservative Congressman for shouting "You lie!" at President Obama during his address to a joint session of Congress this week. "I'm glad he apologized...

September 10, 2009, 4:00 a.m. Would Obama Really Fight the War?More troops only make sense if we think he’s trying to win. Is he? By Andrew C. McCarthy They had me up until “free Afghans from the chains of tyranny.†That is, the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI) had me. The group, founded by the excellent Bill Kristol, Robert Kagan, and Dan Senor, has assembled a number of similarly impressive people to submit a letter to President Obama, urging him to be steadfast in Afghanistan. “Steadfast†in this context means sticking with, and enhancing, a serious counterinsurgency strategy. The letter...

"I've worked a lot of different cases in years in law enforcement, but I've never worked a case where someone caught somebody on fire," Runion said Friday. He said the resident, Petrina Mendez, had called a local EMS unit after an argument with her boyfriend, which ended when investigators say he doused her...

WASHINGTON -- Thousands of demonstrators descended on Capitol Hill Saturday, protesting the expansion of government spending and illustrating the network of conservative activists that has emerged in opposition to President Barack Obama's policies. Organizers said people from all 50 states came to D.C. for the "Taxpayer March on Washington." The largely peaceful crowd began marching near the White House and up Constitution Ave. before settling directly in front of the Capitol. During the march, protesters dressed as colonial Americans banged drums as chants of "U.S.A." echoed throughout downtown Washington.

It may look like a ferocious mutant from the city sewer. But this newfound species of giant woolly rat is a docile denizen of the forests of Papua New Guinea. On a chilly night earlier this year, biologists Kristofer Helgen and Muse Opiang were trekking through high-elevation rain forests on the inactive volcano Mount Bosavi when a local tracker pointed out a cat-size rodent walking on the forest floor.

Although they will be vastly overshadowed–and rightly so–by the amazing turnout in Washington, D.C., several localities also hosted Tea Parties to coincide with the March on the Capitol. I was fortunate enough to attend the event in Roswell, GA.

Note: To All Fifth Columnists is an open letter written by Ayn Rand around the beginning of 1941, when she was encouraging conservative intellectuals to form a national organization advocating individualism. She desired for the letter be issued by such an organization. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You who read this represent the greatest danger to America. No matter what the outcome of the war in Europe may be, Totalitarianism has already won a complete victory in many American minds and conquered all of our intellectual life. You have helped it to win. Perhaps it is your right to destroy civilization and bring dictatorship...

That according to brilliant constitutional scholar MSNBC's David "biased in favor of facts" Shuster, who matter-of-factly insists the "general welfare" clause in Article 1 of the Constitution "unambiguously authorizes" social welfare spending like "social security, Medicare, veterans' care, etc." Shuster made his comments today shortly after 4:30 p.m. EDT in reaction to Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R), who recently suggested that Tenth Amendment grounds could be a means of opposing as unconstitutional certain Democratic health care proposals.
