TWITTER FACEBOOK The Arlington Independent School District, which passed on airing President Barack Obama's live classroom address, has announced that some students will be bussed off campus to hear a message from former President George W. Bush on Sept. 21. District officials said it's part of a Cowboys Stadium field trip that the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee invited 28 fifth-grade classes to attend several months...

BASHING “speculators” is a popular pastime for American politicians trying to explain high and volatile oil prices. But whether speculation has really been responsible for spiking prices is a controversial issue. In 2008 the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) issued a report dismissing the role of speculators in last year’s startling run-up in prices. But banks, hedge funds and others who bet on oil (without a use for the stuff itself) still face limits on the positions they can take, if Gary Gensler, the new CFTC head, can show that their influence in markets does harm. On September 4th the...

“You hear about people who are sick but don't have health care, and suddenly they get a bill for $100,000, and there's no way they can pay for it, and they're about to lose their house. And you’re just reminded that the country is full of really good people who sometimes are going through a hard time,” Obama said. “They just need a break. They need a little bit of help. Maybe the way things are set up right now isn't always fair for people, and that motivates you, because you say, well, I can't make everything perfect, I can't...

Sorry for the vanity. Hope it's not too silly. Also hope it hasn't been done before. The other day, contemplating the ammo shortage with a friend, the question, "Where has all the ammo gone?" transformed in my mind into this variation on the old folk song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone". Here it is. Feel free to tweak or use however you like. (Sorry I can't get the stanzas to post with any separation different from the lines.) Where has all the ammo gone Long time coming Where has all the ammo gone Coming at last Where has all...

The Politico posted a lovely piece: White House talking points blast Palin. I feel this post sums up Obama’s frustrations (click on link) with Governor Palin. OUR White House cannot resist but to focus on Governor Palin and make her the focus of opposition. You have to give credit to The Governor when she speaks we all listen. Although I will not be listening to the speech tonight

The first game is Thursday but you could miss it and still score big points on Sunday when the rest of the slate of games are played. Welcome back to Yahoo! Pro Pick'em! After minutes of thoughtful and deliberate consideration, the name of our league this year is Fishy Football Reform. Our league is here to help anyone who is entirely sick of the health-care debate and wants to hide from it for a few minutes a week. Actually, it tends to become an all-consuming week-after-week ego-deflating compulsion. You'll beat yourselves up for having put 16 points on the Bears...

The presidential speech that sparked a political firestorm aired in many central Ohio schools yesterday with little fuss -- and even some apathy among its targeted audience. "Basically, most of the people I talked to didn't care about the speech," said Kayla McGuire, a Centennial High School senior who is a member of the Dispatch Youth Team, a group of about 20 high-school students. "It wasn't so much that they didn't want to hear it; it was that they weren't interested. Those are things that our teachers and parents tell us every day."

On this Labor Day a flash news update from the Glenn Beck Department of Labor hit the news wires and this is what I could call good news. As we sit now the Czar Unemployment Rate (CUR) is sitting at 3.13%. Hopefully it will reach 100% soon.

The health care system is broken. Young people are the most uninsured population in the country. The status quo is no longer an option. We need bold, real reform and we need it now. Sign the pledge to act. You should mean it because we're going to ask you to get in the game by making a phone call or two, sending a letter to the editor, or emailing your Senator. It is important and we need your help!

Here is video of Fox News' Megyn Kelly today talking to White House Spokesperson for Health Care, Linda Douglass. Kelly pressed her on the issue of "Tort Reform," asking what Obama is going to do about the frivolous lawsuits that are a huge factor in driving up the costs of Health Care. When Douglass refused to address the question, Megyn Kelly said "with all due respect, talk is cheap." Later, after Douglass gave another non-answer, Kelly said "I didn't hear an answer there." She also called Douglass on her assertion that the majority of Americans support the Democrats' plan for...

We put together a little video chronicling the meetings we held. The meetings were attended by the public and many views were expressed; but even the dems concluded that the discussion should not be rushed. A longer synopsis will follow!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=th9SVcF84Ew

Obama's problem is more fundamental than his health-care mess. He campaigned on a no more red state/blue state, white/black, rich/poor polarity, and offered a sort of transcendence that was used to make up for his prior dubious relationships with the likes of Reverend Wright and Bill Ayers. When governing, his supporters liked to think that he would have to rein in extremists like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid to gravitate to the center and work in "bipartisan fashion." But that was never in the cards. The problem is that beneath Obama's hope-and-change veneer, his past legislative and vocal record (cf....

Rush read this article in his show today.... Having spent much of the past thirty years of my life in the advertising industry, the flaws of President Obama's health care message are apparent and massive. Most people outside the ad business will tell you that commercials try to beat you over the head to make you buy what you don't need or want. In truth advertising that doesn't address the public's needs or wants does not work. On top of that, if a consumer keeps being exposed to a message that does not meet a need, they begin to tune...

Boehner: Obama Health-Care Speech ‘Will Try to Put Lipstick on this Pig’ Wednesday, September 09, 2009 By Nicholas Ballasy and Edwin Mora Washington (CNSNews.com – House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Wednesday that President Obama will “try to put lipstick on this pig and call it something else” when the president addresses Congress tonight on health-care reform. “I think we’re all interested in what he (Obama) has to say, but I hope he’s been listening to the American people,” Boehner told reporters. “I think over the course of August they’ve raised their voices loud and clear that they don’t...

Ask a Democrat if he’s in favor of killing people. The answer will be complicated, since he’ll say yes to killing innocent babies sleeping in their mothers’ wombs, but no to killing criminals who have raped and killed others. And the best part is that he’ll think he’s being totally reasonable! The death penalty has changed much over the years, thanks to liberals. It used to be that a big crowd would come out to cheer on the execution of someone who had committed crimes that could only be described as evil, whether it was murder, rape, or some other...
