Sorry for the vanity. Hope it's not too silly. Also hope it hasn't been done before.
The other day, contemplating the ammo shortage with a friend, the question, "Where has all the ammo gone?" transformed in my mind into this variation on the old folk song, "Where Have All the Flowers Gone". Here it is. Feel free to tweak or use however you like. (Sorry I can't get the stanzas to post with any separation different from the lines.)
Where has all the ammo gone
Long time coming
Where has all the ammo gone
Coming at last
Where has all the ammo gone
Gone to weapons every one
Were glad theyve finally learned
Were glad theyve finally learned
--------------------------
Where have all the weapons gone
Long time coming
Where have all the weapons gone
Coming at last
Where have all the weapons gone
Gone to patriots every one
Were glad theyve finally learned
Were glad theyve finally learned
-----------------------------
Where have all the patriots gone
Long time coming
Where have all the patriots gone
Coming at last
Where have all the patriots gone
Gone to the Second Amendment every one
Were glad theyve finally learned
Were glad theyve finally learned
---------------------------
Where has the Second Amendment gone
Long time coming
Where has the Second Amendment gone
Coming at last
Where has the Second Amendment gone
Gone to We the People every one
Were glad they finally learned
Were glad they finally learned
-----------------------
Where have We the People gone
Long time coming
Where have We the People gone
Long time ago
Where have We the People gone
Gone to buy ammo every one
Were glad they finally learned
Were glad they finally learned
Great song! (PS - I thought the Fed was secretly buying it all up as a hedge against inflation.)
parsy, who don’t trust the rich guys
I made over 500rnds of 5.56mm FMJ this weekend.
Thank GOD I have a small stockpile of Win small rifle primers.
Nice effort and a nice song.
I’ll see if they had learned anything when more than 6 percent of the gun owners finally start voting their Rights and joining the gun groups.
Four million NRA members are outnumbered by forty million antigun AARP members.
The proof with be in November, 2010.
How do you know this?
Hm... who wants to take a semi to the docks then?
;)

Semi? Pistol or truck? Big difference if you are picking up ten rounds or twenty tons.
You could only load up 100 pounds of powder or a few thousand primers. Might as well take a suv.
There is a lot of material on loading docks that can only be shipped a little at a time due to hazardous materials restrictions on carriers. It might take a long time to ship enough to catch up.
I got 250 rounds of .40 S&W FMJ and 40 rounds of Hydra-Shok (same caliber) Saturday. All for under a hundred bucks. It’s out there if you look hard enough.
There is no ammo shortage form me. What is the evidence for a stinking ammo shortage? Oh, I reload.
A buddy said he called about a primer order and the guy said that it was waiting on the loading dock for shipping. Carriers are limited to 100 pounds of black powder. I think that 100 pounds is the limit for regular powder. I do not know how many primers you can ship but you can't mix hazardous materials. I don't know what the limits are for loaded ammo. I got a case of 12ga 00 buck just fine.
Nice song. Ammo shortage is over for the time being though.
Something tells me that the primer makers ship substantial orders to their industrial ammo making customers.
Maybe they ship by train, 50 cal ammo gets powder shipment by the trainload. UPS is limited. I don't know what semis are limited to but they do not deliver to individuals like upsfedexsaia etc. Some of my powder was over 25 years old, I should have sold it as antique.

Oh, come on... semis can [physically] haul MUCH more than a hundred pounds of ammo.

I was thinking the latter, but you might want the former so that you can ‘neutralize’ pesky BTAFE agents who are trying to enforce any laws which restrict your weight-limit. (What about “Shall not be infringed” don’t you people understand? ...and if we’re talking about a militia, who says I’m not forming one? ... Oh, so the Second Amendment isn’t “incorporated”?)
In that case, the primer maker could open up a drive-up retail storefront in the parking lot. There would be people lined up for miles, wherever they were in the US.
There might be hazmat restrictions on carriers, but they would not apply to private individuals taking home their retail purchases.
