Rangel-ing: Charlie Pays 'Angels' In Ethics Probe Harlem Congressman Gave Campaign Contributions To 3 Dems On Ethics Committee Charged With Investigating Him Reporting Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS) ― CBS 2 HD has learned of more alleged back-door dealings and political power peddling by Democratic Rep. Charles Rangel. The reigning member of Congress' top tax committee is apparently "wrangling" other politicos to get him out of his own financial and tax troubles. Here's a look at Charlie's so-called "angels" involved in his ethics investigation. Congressman Rangel has been arrogant in refusing to discuss how, as the man who writes this...

In the October issue of Vanity Fair, Levi Johnston tells his story--not of his relationship with Bristol, or her campaign for abstinence, or of life, in general, as a traveling spectator of the McCain/Palin campaign--but of Sarah Palin herself, what she's like at home, what she does, says, and how she treats people. And it is not pretty. Not by a long shot. It's a five-page first-person account, told by Johnston, of the way Palin is. Johnston certainly has an axe to grind: since the end of the campaign, it's become clear that Johnston does not like Sarah Palin very...

Our Organizer-in-Chief will address students across America come September 8. In preparation for that teaching moment, Teaching Ambassador Fellows at the Department of Education have prepared a Menu of Classroom Activities to prepare the kiddies. Here are a few of the leading questions: Why is it important that we listen to the President and other elected officials ...? Why is what they say important? What is the President trying to tell me? What is the President asking me to do?

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (BP)--I envied Terri Schiavo for her father, Bob. There were times I thought: What a waste, she doesn't know how good she has it. Not like it was her fault, but if only she knew. But of course she knew. From all the firsthand accounts and the vivid description of my friend David Gibbs, the attorney who fought for the right of Bob Schindler's daughter to live, Terri herself knew what it was like to feel the whiskered face of her father rough up against her cheek and tickle her until she smiled. She knew when he...

When I learned that Dr. Stephen Meyer had written a new book on the evidence of design displayed in living cells, I expected to be impressed by it. I wasn’t prepared to have my mind blown—which is what happened. In Signature in the Cell, Meyer marshals the scientific facts and arguments to show that the staggering quantity of information contained in the “computer code” of our cellular DNA almost certainly cannot have been generated by undirected material processes. Instead, Meyer contends, in our combined human experience the kind of complex, functionally specified information that is present in living cells is...

Senior White House officials, in conversations with reporters today, are floating the idea that President Obama is secretly negotiating with Sen. Olympia Snowe over a health care compromise that would phase in a government-funded health care alternative if private insurance companies fail to meet quality and cost benchmarks over a certain period of the time. The public discussion of the Snowe "compromise" is meant to test the reaction of House Democrats, who will pass a bill that includes an immediate public option added to a new health insurance exchange. The White House hopes that, having voted for a public option,...

Organizing for America (OFA), a project of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), used to be Obama for America. The political group has been encouraging participation in a work-at-home ObamaCare organizing event by besmirching the opposition as “Right-Wing Domestic Terrorists”. When their detestable ploy was discovered yesterday (September 1st), they removed the online open letter. But … Google’s cache saved the original page which can be found with this search. This cached page will likely be “scrubbed” soon too. So … we’ve captured it both as a PDF document and as a graphic (below) … for your careful perusal. In this...

In a letter to The Daily Telegraph, a group of experts who care for the terminally ill claim that some patients are being wrongly judged as close to death. Under NHS guidance introduced across England to help doctors and medical staff deal with dying patients, they can then have fluid and drugs withdrawn and many are put on continuous sedation until they pass away. But this approach can also mask the signs that their condition is improving, the experts warn. As a result the scheme is causing a “national crisis” in patient care, the letter states. It has been signed...

Animal rights activists on Wednesday released a film in which thousands of discarded male chicks are shown being ground up while still alive -- cruel treatment which they said is typical of the modern poultry industry. "These young animals are sorted, discarded, and handled like mere cogs in a machine," said the animal activist group Mercy For Animals in a press release. The group said it obtained the film during an undercover investigation at the Spencer, Iowa hatchery, but said it shows the heartless treatment young chickens are subjected to across the poultry industry. For its part, Hy-Line International said...
