Senior White House officials, in conversations with reporters today, are floating the idea that President Obama is secretly negotiating with Sen. Olympia Snowe over a health care compromise that would phase in a government-funded health care alternative if private insurance companies fail to meet quality and cost benchmarks over a certain period of the time. The public discussion of the Snowe "compromise" is meant to test the reaction of House Democrats, who will pass a bill that includes an immediate public option added to a new health insurance exchange. The White House hopes that, having voted for a public option, House Dems would accept a "trigger" as part of a conference committee compromise rather than putting the kibosh on the entire health care reform project.

If she does, she may as well announce her party change at the same time.
The Quality and Cost benchmarks:
Absolutely zero complaints of any sort, even from the Professional Complainers, and at zero cost.
And the “slippery slope” to socialism begins.....
The current administration just hates conflict doesn't it.
Go after the already convinced RINO's and call it a win.
I like this trigger idea — but it needs to be reversed. Every time a government program fails to meet its promised goals, instead of being given more money, it is ended.
We can start with the stimulus program.
Watch for the word VOUCHERS
Too many private meeting with Snowe......he is doing her!
And now another episode of “Senate Republicans are Idiots”!
Why do the RINOs always destroy the party’s momentum?
Why don’t they just change parties and be done with it.
Just say:
NO.
HECK NO.
NO WAY.
HOW MANY WAYS CAN I SAY NO, NO, NO???!!!
Now THATS an idea I can get behind! :)
I don’t blame Snowe. She is who she is. I blame the Senate leadership for failing to punish her when she broke ranks on the last several key votes.
Why should she follow party discipline when there IS NO PARTY DISCIPLINE? No penalty for breaking ranks and thumbing her nose at the party leadership?
They are both dead and have gone to he!!... is the only obvious scenario then.
Heh...Who are you kidding! Snowe has been a Democrat for many years now...
“If she does, she may as well announce her party change at the same time.”
Why? She won in 2006, not such a good year for the Rs you will remember, in one of the bluest states in the Union with 74% of the vote.
Translation - IOW, we think you're so stupid that we can pull the wool over your eyes, and pass ObamaCare in phases instead of all at once. That way, you won't know that we STILL screwed you and took over your lives!!!
How much MORE proof do we have to have to understand that the Democrats are going to pass DeathCare REGARDLESS of what "we, the people" want!!! This isn't about Obama OR Snowe - it's about a political system that is corrupt and has completely failed!!!!
Don’t like party politics - she is who she is and was elected with her views (even if she is wrong). The problem is why she was elected. If the people decided to elect her again, they are the ones at fault. Don’t blame the those that are not responsible for her decisions. Blame her and her liberal electors.
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Snowe, if you have any respect left for yourself at all, you will not do this crap. Hussein is getting his camel’s nose in the tent. Then the whole damn animal will follow.
Governments do not set prices. Period. That is disaster in the making.
Look at how Hussein lies in all other aspects of his life. Ignore him. Walk away.
“No penalty for breaking ranks and thumbing her nose at the party leadership?”
What, exactly, do you think that bunch of clowns could do to Snowe even if there were party discipline? She has what they want, not the other way round!
